Nice sounds of v8 engine shame there was not different v8 tho.
From 1.5liter - 5liter plus so that small block v8 competing with big block v8.
Or say w-8 engine in dtm

Flat plane crankshafts?
Yeah, a flat plane is much like bolting two I4s together 60/90 deg from each other on a common shaft. Cross plane crankshafts sound more reminiscent to the characteristic V8 American muscle cars, and there’s several pros and cons of using either layout. All depends on the application..
Well, this configuration (dual side exhaust) makes the flatplane V8 sound like two 2.0L 4-cylinder engines, one on each side.
WBRos59 In essence, any flat plane V8 will sound like an I4. Just like a V6 sounds reminiscent to an I3, and a V10 sounds much like an I5. It is quite literally two inlines mated to a common crank...
@@Dragoneer exactly. It's all about the exhaust setup (headers, collectors, crossover pipes, etc.). For example, with an 8-1 collector, this same 4.0 V8 would sound like an F1.

I understand these are v8s but why does it sound like a four pot?
I believe this is due to the exhaust system design being optimised for scavenging, resulting in even pulses and a flat sound
Freddie Appleby makes perfect sense thank you :), sounds like it works almost exactly like a 2 stroke at a certain rpm range when the pipe comes into resonance the exhaust note changes dramatically
That’s the result of the flatplane crank.
Some such as the Judd’s v8 can sound a bit more « typical » even for flatplane v8s whereas these ones sounds like four cylinders. The headers setup might have an influence on its sound.
Exhaust setup. The dual side exhaust with no crossover pipe makes the 4.0L flatplane V8 basically two 2.0L 4 bangers, one on each side.
Because they used something called over head cam / valve engine.
Flat plane engine are very different type of engine from aero plane side of technology.
And over head cam / valve cheaper then flat plane engine.
Some day soon all this will be replaced with the sound of an electric motor! Makes me feel sick
