Symbols can't be resized... totally defeats the purpose of a symbol. Imagine you have your app's logo as a symbol and want to use it across your app in different sizes... Not possible.
Very good overview, thanks. I think they'll have to add native Constraints to Sketch at some point soon... having static UI sizes is untenable these days, even at the design stage. (But hopefully they'll make it far more intuitive than Apple's Auto Layout in Interface Builder!) Just a suggestion: please consider going fullscreen in Sketch, or at least option-clicking on the minimize button to take up the whole screen. (The Dock appearance is quite distracting.) Cheers.

Hi, I cannot reproduce this behaviour, neither the "left aligned" case you say above. Can you help me clarifing what does it mean "layer next to the text layer"?
First Sketch video I've come across and picked up so many basics and luckily a few little pro tips that only come from experience. Thank you a tonne Joseph for sharing your work with us. Thanks especially for taking the time to briefly explain those little pro tips (e.g holding option selects those fully covered)

4:40 how did you duplicate the items so they were placed correctly one after another?
So how you get the check box to only show up for one name and not all within the symbol?
