People show way too little appreciacion for people like you who video it and upload. Gonna do it on my 2010 Clubman Cooper S now, would be a nightmare without this video. Massive shoutout!
Thanks for the video. Bought my son his first car and its a 2014 clubman S. I looked at doing the oil change and was surprised how much of a hassle it is to get the oil filter out. Horrible design on mini for location. I had him take it to mini for this oil change. Thanks for your video. I will be more prepared to show him and help do his next oil change.
Thanks for sharing. My wife has a 2010 Mini One and it's the same process except there is no need to remove the radiator bottle (to access the oil filter) as it is in a different place. As you drive on the wrong side of the road in the US (LOL) I always have to think twice when you guys refer to the "drivers side".
This really helped, i have an 09 jcw and everytbing has the same placement and this helped tremendously. I have no reason to go get it changed for $130 lol
re: copper washer - flat side goes against the head of the drain bolt. This way when you torque it down it will crush at the oil pan side and make a seal against mating surface of the pan.
Still have to deal with the filter element. They couldn't use spin on filters like the rest of the world; which are so much easier and neater. Guess it's a German thing.
DTR RTD different location would be way easier. My wife malibu and my camaro have the same type filter element and its right up top and easy to change. and i like them better than the metal ones.
nice video.Must use Jack/or 2x6 wood, in order to put up mini S convertable, high enough, to get oil pan under front splash guard. Also, do you know what torque oil filter housing goes to? case shows 25NM , this seems WAY to high. Thank you.
I was doing the same and while I was doing it, I seem to have disconnected a wire harness around the oil filter. I've been looking for hours and I can't seem to find where it goes back into. Do you know where I might be able to get help to plug it back in. I think it leads back to a part of the ecu, but can't find where it is supposed to be plugged into. Thanks so much for your help
I took my mini to get the oil change the guy didn't tighten down my filter my oil was on my drive way by 8pm had it towed sunday morning back to them they basically tighten it up a little better topped off my oil sent me on my way the problem is its still leaking i needed to know the size of the filter socket thanks for the answer
@@kenjenn3059 quick question.. my mechanic attempted to do an ATF drain and fill.. but he drained the transmission fluid pan drain bolt.. which is correct.. but he also removed the bolt for the bell housing.. timestamp 1:04... My concern is.. even though very little fluid came out.. he only pumped ATF fluid into the transmission drain plug (even though he opened 2 drain bolts)... So the bell housing he didn't pump any fluid back in... Do you know if that bell housing drain plug should also be pumped with fluid? Does the bell housing and transmission share the exact same fluid.. meaning no partition in between?? He pumped in a little less than 2 quarts to only the transmission pan drain plug. The car is the same year and model as you with an automatic transmission... Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Quick and simple video. I really like that you don’t babble in your videos. This was really helpful. Thank you
Great video. Answered a lot of questions I had. Thanks for taking the time and effort to post it!

Thank you a lot this is such a great video. With lots of details. Please keep up the good work. This video helped me a lot. Have a good time.

Great Video. so many youtubers could take a lesson from how you shot yours. thanks.
Thank you!

The sticker on the valve cover reads "We recommend MINI Synthetic motor oil 5W30", rather than 5W40. Did the manual say otherwise?
Thanks for pointing that out. I made a mistake when recording the audio for this video.
Says "I recommend wearing gloves"... while not wearing gloves 😂
Great Video, Thank you
Nice video. If you buy a vacuum oil extractor you'll never have to get under the car or replace the crush washer.

Loved the vid. Ty

25 N-m is just 18.5 ft-lbs, seems like that might be reasonable with the large diameter of the filter housing threads.

Thanks a lot !!
As this synthetic oil last a lot, I would like to change just the filter between changes, is it feasible?
well done! think this would work for my '13 mini coupe as well?
Not sure about a 2013. Best of luck to you!
1:30 é o que interessa.... muito bom!!! parabéns!!!!
All that’s missing is some “slick 50” and a “ValvoMax” drain plug”

Thanks! I have a MacBook Pro that came with iMovie. Easy to use.
Hey. having a problem removing oil filter on my 2006 mini one. Just won't move even on a breaker bar. any suggestions for removing? cheers.
did you try turning the opposite way....................
I think my comment wasn't posted..
Any chance you can do an ATF change on the same vehicle??
Thanks for the comment. Yes. As soon as I do that, I will record it and post it on my "I Fixed it!" channel. I have no idea when I will do that tho.

@@JCX.. Sorry, I haven't had any experience in this yet and can't comment on the correct procedure. Sorry!
I am planning on getting a 2012 Cooper base model, will it be the same process as your Cooper S?
Sorry, I have no idea. Good luck.
I was told that it takes a second generation filter which has a more zig zag design.
I’ve done a few Mini Cooper videos that may be of interest to DIY’ers, here’s the playlist:
