I love how Les's first thought on body searches isn't "it'll be bad for buisiness" but "it opens you up to lawsuits up the wazoo!"
He's right though, it pushes dangerously close to a 4th Amendment violation even being a private business
With the first customer when les checked the guys item online " it was up for AUCTION" seriously les! The AUCTION HAD 6 BIDS..meaning it was still going..😂 les, your going off what the current bid is, it doesnt effect the final price...its only when the item SELLS.
The body and bag search was always done, if you watch the first season episodes, I think In the first or second episode, you see the body and bag searches being done.
I was thinking the same, I think it’s just literally for the TV show
That compass was not for sale at $33. It was on Ebay for auction with 6 bids so far. Les was very rude to that customer. But why would the customer take it to a pawn shop to sell it when it currently been auctioned on Ebay?
The figure he asked for is probably what he was hoping the auction would fetch by the time it ended. If Les had gave him what he wanted he could have just removed it from the auction anyway, but as Les didn't he likely just left the auction going and got whatever he could for it. The other possibility is he was just trying his luck and genuinely did think Les was that gullible. In fairness Les tries his luck all the time with customers and often lowballs them, I don't get how he can be so mad when someone tries a trick on him.
@@_ATW_ even if he sold it to Les, there's no way to cancel an ebay auction onces there's bids, so he'd have account violations and probably have to repay the person with the highest bid which would cost him a bit extra due to some fees
@@OfficialLegend He could have set a reserve price, and if that wasn't met by the end of the auction he's still got the right not to sell the item.
management is supposed to tally what comes in and whether it is retained on premise so to estimate where there is any sufficient anomaly, that would warrant a search...
I love these 3 but I have compassion on them that people treat them so badly

If a business tried this sort of thing in Australia it would be against the law, security cannot even put their hand in the bag, they can only look and as for the body search this can only be done by the police and since I do not know what laws are in America I cannot make a statement on what they are doing in this case.
But I don't think I would want to work in this environment.

If that happened where we are in Aus you will easily have a case against you and potentially might lose your (ABN) license to be a business.
Security putting their hands in bags was actually really common in Australia back when this show was made. Had it myself plenty of times as a teen. Also later on in life when i became a nightfill supervisor for coles i was required to do bag checks and to do them thoroughly (move things around) i just never did the second part. Rarely ever did the first actually now that i can be honest about it.. not only bc i trusted eveybody i worked with and its so invasive
As I was in security I am telling you that is illegal, the only person that can carry out that sort of search is a police officer, if a security officer puts their hands inside a bag they have broken the law and they can lose their security license for doing so and as for the public, just don't do it, it spells law suit. The law is the law and trust me you really don't wish to go there.@@JLYT2024
Only the Police in the UK can do pat downs. Bag wise security are allowed to look in the bags but not touch the contents.
