Les Gold and his two children, Seth and Ashley, overcome challenges as they run an American pawn shop in Detroit.

I was a pawnbroker for about 10yrs and really enjoyed it. I didn’t have security and 90% of the time I worked alone and never had anyone get violent or seriously threaten me. I realise the US, particularly Detroit is completely different, though.
I have spent years in pawns and loans, I wish my life were this exciting.
@@elusivespirit2959not wrong mate, all I did was loans on TV’s DVD’s and game systems. Maybe once a month I’d get something interesting, did a few motorcycles, a few cars, that’s about it.

Both Ashley and Seth showed absolutely no interesest in the other person’s situation and at the end they call it “working together” 😂😂

As an european I have a question: In these episodes the black ladies frequently freaking out so fast and without any reason... Is that their real character or is the portrayal exaggerated?
It's US "Reality TV", do you think it would be viable economically to have a film crew out and wait until something happens? And when you don't pay your writers well you get mediocre writers that use stereotypes a lot.

From what is shown in the show, Ashley is an outright bitch, and really unprofessional. She cannot negotiate, and her greatest tactic is to offer someone 1/3rd of what they want, smile and hold out her hand. She may be very skilled in jewellery and gemstones, but in buying and selling, she is useless.
