Will we get a usb C version sometime? I prefer to just chuck my cable in as its by the bed and means I don't have to stop gaming if it's low 🥰 orrrrrr could you remove the coil and add a usb to + - input the power also or is that not how it works?
I have the newer model of the cleanjuice air and the guide doesn't mention where/if I need to solder a wire from the USB-C to the cleanjuice battery board. Is there somewhere where this info is updated to match the recent model? Apologies for the confusion.
Hi thanks for this mod, I was affraid it wouldnt be possible due to the curve of the battery compartment but your trick does the job well. Do you think the back piece of your own shell is compatible with the top/screen part from other manufacturers in case we want to mix several third party mods ? Would you even consider making and selling a modified back shell that would remove this curve and turn it flat like a gameboy pocket ?
Yeah our backs fit original shells and depends how accurate other people's shells are. I like my shells to be as stock as possible so I think the cover trick is best method for now. Always looking for improvements though
so it powered on once. then never again. and then it started making a high piched buzzing noise at me. i took it out because i scared . was my unit messed up?
Hi, for some time now I have been dealing with cleanjuice battery wireless, the reason is that it is not completely closed in its box that they sent me, for some reason when touching it, it easily makes the back cover come loose, I lose audio or the gameboy restarts, For some reason it is not very safe. Is there another way to secure this properly? to let the lid remain airtight and not open at the first movement. I appreciate any tips in advance... it depresses me that this turns off with any simple movement.
Great product but I have a problem with the battery cover not closing all the way. I bought 2 and are using your shells with both of them and if I touch the battery cover in any way they unlatch and fall off.
Would this work with a funnyplaying shell, or only the prestige? I just built out a GBC with a funnyplaying Q5 and shell and I’d love this mod, but don’t want to have to swap shells
That video was a big help! Actually I received my CleanJuice Air kit just yesterday and it came with a little black plastic trim. What exactly is that for? I couldn't spot it in the video.
@@RetroSix I have one more question: you mentioned that there is a low power LED mode. Which LED should light up in case the battery is almost out of power? My Gameboy turned off twice now because of empty battery but I could never see any LED lighting up.
Love this! I have the clean juice for GBA and plan on getting this too. Does this mod affect the power LED like the GBA one does? Having that indicator is really nice So you know it's time to charge before the console dies
I had modded 2 GBA so far with retrosix parts and cleanjuice type c mod. Interested in getting this for my planned GBC mod but is just a bit curious about why this isn't a type c charging but a wireless charging. Is there technical limitations or shape of battery covers
Yep. USB C would not fit without a very small battery or cutting the shell to put USB C at the bottom. Will make USB C version next year which will require cutting bottom of shell to install USB C
@@RetroSix could you add a usb c to this board to the - + points and remove the coil and just cut a hole at the bottom then or is it designed to just work wireless?
@@RetroSix superb!! Next up is the gba led kits I have enough parts from you ordered for 4 systems but I'm waiting on the leds to neaten it up 🥰 rough idea on price?
mine gets super hot during charging to the point it hits over 60c i have a good wireless charger. contacts are solid. but WHY WIRELESS! it is not a good way to charge......
Pretty normal. Phones get toasty to. It's only surface heat which dissipates quick when touched similar to a phone. I'll add USB support to best batch also
@@RetroSix i respect the reply! thank you for that info and ill keep using it then. i can not wait for a usb battery ill purchase that as soon it is released!!
Thanks for the guide! I installed ips, the cleannuice board and this battery using your guides and it was fairly simple! However i wanna give a fair warning to those who want this mod andare using the original shell. I used one my original shell and had to cut out the whole battery compartiment to even be able to fit in the battery and the board. By using some electrical tape i made sure to protect the insides. And as a result you can't screw down the shell on the bottom and it is not sitting perfectly seemless anymore. So buy a new shell instead of going trough this struggle! ;)

Looks a solid product and worth the wait. Nicely detailed video too 👌🏻
Thanks 😊
Amazing invention! Well done guys. I already bought this kit.
Thanks. Hope you like it
Who are the other Retro Five?
I‘d love a Gameboy Advance with wireless charging! I‘ve already installed your USB-C battery board into my GBA. Very happy with it. RetroSix RULES!

fantastically detailed video, incredibly helpful for my new GBC! Thank you!!
100% getting ones of these when i mod my gameboy so damn nice to finally have an easy gameboy color battery mod
Why’s the charge indicator blinking on the DPad side? Mines not charging and blinking steadily
i just got mine and it will not fix the prestige shell with the battery door... such a bummer i dont think i can use this in the end....
Is there going to be a USB-C version of this?
Yes I'll do one soon
So do you remove the whole spring assembly, or just the spring on the one sode
One side. The other is attached to PCB
So you take out the metal spring on the right of the console ?
Correct

Could be faulty yes. Just contact our support on discord or email for replacement
would it be possible to get a wireless board for your xl dmg battery?
I'll make a wireless version for DMG after GBA
@@RetroSix that's gonna be an awesome upgrade, thank you!
I got it on charge atm, the red light is on and the orange light is on and blinking . Should it be blinking ?
No blinking is battery not making good contact

Gently bend the battery cover clip outward and hold it for 10 seconds
Same problem here. Even when trying to bend the battery cover clip, nothing seems to be working. it's almost like there's not enough clearance
RetroSix did the trick for me! Thanks
@@mrtacointhebox same problem…ugh…
Lift off the wireless coil and re stick it in centre of board not bottom end
Will the GBC shells be available in teal soon?
Yes
So sad that to deliver to Spain I have to do it with DHL... I'll have to plan a trip to UK!
That works too ☺️
Is there any reliable way to replace the springs if they were to be broken ?
Unfortunately not unless you solder a wire to each point instead
Would this work with a funnyplaying shell, or only the prestige? I just built out a GBC with a funnyplaying Q5 and shell and I’d love this mod, but don’t want to have to swap shells
No it doesn't fit theirs as they are not flat in the bottom
If I'm only getting a red light but not the orange one?
Your springs are not contacting the black batteries gold contacts
Is it normal to feel hot during its charge ? I get 1 light blinking and the other light constant on while charging.
That's poor alignment or distance try and align it or get it closer to charger and check your battery and board are well connected to each other

Not sure what that is ha not needed
@@RetroSix actually it was the cover for the infrared port, I just mixed up some parts.

@@hary_704 The GBC just dims the power LED when low
Is it compatible with the battery display of the ips screen kit on you're site?
No as the lipo is a constant output voltage
Maybe I'm def but what's the estimated battery life per charge
Checkout RetroSix.wiki website it has detailed artical on battery life
