People (including me) watch these type of videos and feel like geniuses when in fact they are only as smart as a potato. If you are a genius, you are a genius. You prove it over and over again with what you do, not by staying up till late hours. Lets accept who we are please.

Yup. My school is full of nerds, but compared to each other, we are all dumb somehow (sometimes in *very* dumb ways). Any one of these traits could apply to someone and so would they be a "genius" One of the teachers said that the average student of that class subject is stupid, so if any of these applied to them, would everyone at my school be truly geniuses? This isn't very related I just realized but whatever.
also, my ma'am in school has favoritism towards me, which i find very odd. She always asks me whether I'm finished in a seatwork first, then gets angry at my other mates for not being finished. I just don't want to be praised so much because i want everybody to be treated as equal.

Good point, it's also a well documented fact that people with adhd, down syndrum or autism have a higher chance of receiving amazing different abilities often in music, arts, and mathematical fields just to name a few.
I have all these traits, but they really sound more like the traits of 'successful' geniusses, rather than simply being associated with IQ. I think that the important takeaway is that these traits aren't necessarily bad, but instead can help you achieve your dreams.
ADHD, anxiety, and having a high IQ actually have many similar “symptoms”. My psychiatrist described it to me using a Venn diagram where each has traits that overlap with one another. Autism (and Aspergers as it is part of the spectrum of autism I think) is often accompanied by a very high IQ. I’m not sure why this is but I do know the correlation exists. So the traits listed in this video are likely common among geniuses, those with ADHD, and those in the autism spectrum. Some of these traits would also pertain to people with anxiety, but the particular behaviors mentioned in this video are less in line with that of someone who only has anxiety.

I understand the motives behind this video, which is to inform people about stuff, obviously. But in MY opinion this video is less of 'Traits of a Genius' and more of 'Traits of almost everybody living on this planet'. All this video is doing is catering to people who are doing normal stuff / doing unhealthy stuff and making them feel that they have traits of a genius. Most people who happen to be awake at night, honestly, are just being kept awake by their handy distractions called smartphones - at least mention this because this is obvious. Now you have a bunch of 15-year old thinking that them being awake at night is GREAT because its a trait of a genius. Same goes for the points about Forgetfulness.
I can see how you are not a very open minded person, because you did not understand the explanation behind each characteristic. Staying up at night is only somewhat beneficial if it means that you are actively thinking. And forgetfulness simply means that your ideas override simple information, because you can't remember everything. The real factor in determining if you are a genius is whether or not you are a rational thinker, because you can actually just have been a basic thinker the entire time. But these are just possible indicators if anything, and I doubt everything inhibits it because there are so many people out there.

These seem more of the traits you have when you have ADD then the traits of a genious. Especially the hyperfocus. In ADD you have difficulty focusing. I agree with part one, but part two of your statement is completely wrong. The literature done I.Q is so solid there is almost no social science data on any other subject that comes close to it. I can link you a peer review done by Dan Simon that reviews some of the most relevant studies. You could just google it too

Max Power, I normally get 140-160 on IQ tests. I’m 23 years old, from Brazil, I am considered a genius among my peers and I fit 100% in everything he said. I agree with the original post in some ways too, just like an IQ test doesn’t prove anything other than recognition of patterns, Emotional Control tests also can predict much. I feel like this video was made for introverts to feel better, but at the same time it did say some correct things most people get wrong. We are introverted extroverts and vise versa. I believe you have to do something really impressive and revolutionary, it isn't just having a high IQ or talent. You have to be super skilled with exceptional creativity, photographic memory, build big companies, or publish very important work which would contribute heavily to humanity.

Yup, this video basically says "if you go around dressed like a hobo and don't tidy your place then you genius hurr durr so smart". It's on of those vids that gives lazy people excuses for being lazy.
But then it makes sense. I only tidy up because I feel compelled to. And only as much as necessary and only as often as strictly needed. If I could think and live well with less tidying, I definitely would have.
I'm so glad to see that some people know this is just a lot of stereotypes, but more than that, these stereotypes comes from having someone with bad habits not properly modified in school due to, let's say, poor parental guidance. When the kid is really really smart, and outsmarts parents, they can't find ways to correct bad habits and just let the kids "be", because they are smart; but if you are not smart and misbehave and parents can't control you, you will develop the same habits AND you'll be an asshole. They are not only stereotypes, they are WRONG stereotypes of an smart person.
I consider myself as a smart person, I learn everything quickly, I scored 139 on an IQ test few years ago, and I'm lazy, I can't fall asleep easily. I don't know if there are direct relationships between intelligence and all these stereotypes, but most of them fit me. Or am I just a loser who tries to make himself feel better?
I was tested 3 times in my life to see what my IQ was. It happens to sit at about 140, which is the minimum IQ to be classified as a genius. Lots of these things apply to me, but the optimism that geniuses supposedly have is not something I can relate to. Beyond that, I have noticed lots of gifted individuals are far from optimistic. In fact, it’s common to hear about troubled geniuses. I have my theories as to why this is, but I want to hear what others think as well. My 2 theories are as follows. 1) The social awkwardness and lack of respect for social norms isolates geniuses from their peers. Despite what you may think, they can’t just be entertained by their own minds all the time. Just like anyone else, they don’t want to be alone, and they certainly don’t want to be seen as an outcast. 2) Their high intelligence can make it easy to see all the injustices in our world. This could be on a small scale, like noticing lies they are told that most people are blissfully ignorant to. However, it could also be on a larger scale where they see the inherent flaws of human nature.

Geniuses are not everytime become genius because they have these traits. They are just the traits of people who have become genius but that does not mean that everyone who have these traits become genius. Except the focus even I have all the traits and I am sure every person in the world have these traits. Geniuses are made because of there hardwork and dedication towards their trade whether it is science or art or any other field. It takes lot of sacrifices and hardwork to become a genius so we cannot make fun of them by saying that they we are equally intelligent to them. Interesting... A lot of the qualities shown in the video are actually things that have had me in a social-anxiety deadlock for a while. Like even though I know I'm somewhat smart and had this "scientifically" proven to me once (however dubious IQ-tests may be). I was really convinced that other people must have more of a grip on their psyche since they don't have a messy room, messy clothes and chronic forgetfulness. It also felt like that, since these negative traits existed in me, my success in life would ultimately be taken down by them. I even trained myself to stop asking people too many questions because I didn't want to appear nosy. Thanks for this video for letting me rephrase those behaviours in a more positive context, though that might just be self-justification.

Yup. My school is full of nerds, but compared to each other, we are all dumb somehow (sometimes in *very* dumb ways). Any one of these traits could apply to someone and so would they be a "genius" One of the teachers said that the average student of that class subject is stupid, so if any of these applied to them, would everyone at my school be truly geniuses? This isn't very related I just realized but whatever.

ADHD, anxiety, and having a high IQ actually have many similar “symptoms”. My psychiatrist described it to me using a Venn diagram where each has traits that overlap with one another. Autism (and Aspergers as it is part of the spectrum of autism I think) is often accompanied by a very high IQ. I’m not sure why this is but I do know the correlation exists. So the traits listed in this video are likely common among geniuses, those with ADHD, and those in the autism spectrum. Some of these traits would also pertain to people with anxiety, but the particular behaviors mentioned in this video are less in line with that of someone who only has anxiety.

I understand the motives behind this video, which is to inform people about stuff, obviously. But in MY opinion this video is less of 'Traits of a Genius' and more of 'Traits of almost everybody living on this planet'. All this video is doing is catering to people who are doing normal stuff / doing unhealthy stuff and making them feel that they have traits of a genius. Most people who happen to be awake at night, honestly, are just being kept awake by their handy distractions called smartphones - at least mention this because this is obvious. Now you have a bunch of 15-year old thinking that them being awake at night is GREAT because its a trait of a genius. Same goes for the points about Forgetfulness.

I can see how you are not a very open minded person, because you did not understand the explanation behind each characteristic. Staying up at night is only somewhat beneficial if it means that you are actively thinking. And forgetfulness simply means that your ideas override simple information, because you can't remember everything. The real factor in determining if you are a genius is whether or not you are a rational thinker, because you can actually just have been a basic thinker the entire time. But these are just possible indicators if anything, and I doubt everything inhibits it because there are so many people out there.

Max Power, I normally get 140-160 on IQ tests. I’m 23 years old, from Brazil, I am considered a genius among my peers and I fit 100% in everything he said. I agree with the original post in some ways too, just like an IQ test doesn’t prove anything other than recognition of patterns, Emotional Control tests also can predict much.

I believe you have to do something really impressive and revolutionary, it isn't just having a high IQ or talent. You have to be super skilled with exceptional creativity, photographic memory, build big companies, or publish very important work which would contribute heavily to humanity.

Yup, this video basically says "if you go around dressed like a hobo and don't tidy your place then you genius hurr durr so smart". It's on of those vids that gives lazy people excuses for being lazy.
But then it makes sense. I only tidy up because I feel compelled to. And only as much as necessary and only as often as strictly needed. If I could think and live well with less tidying, I definitely would have.
I'm so glad to see that some people know this is just a lot of stereotypes, but more than that, these stereotypes comes from having someone with bad habits not properly modified in school due to, let's say, poor parental guidance. When the kid is really really smart, and outsmarts parents, they can't find ways to correct bad habits and just let the kids "be", because they are smart; but if you are not smart and misbehave and parents can't control you, you will develop the same habits AND you'll be an asshole. They are not only stereotypes, they are WRONG stereotypes of an smart person.

I consider myself as a smart person, I learn everything quickly, I scored 139 on an IQ test few years ago, and I'm lazy, I can't fall asleep easily. I don't know if there are direct relationships between intelligence and all these stereotypes, but most of them fit me. Or am I just a loser who tries to make himself feel better?
I was tested 3 times in my life to see what my IQ was. It happens to sit at about 140, which is the minimum IQ to be classified as a genius. Lots of these things apply to me, but the optimism that geniuses supposedly have is not something I can relate to. Beyond that, I have noticed lots of gifted individuals are far from optimistic. In fact, it’s common to hear about troubled geniuses. I have my theories as to why this is, but I want to hear what others think as well. My 2 theories are as follows.
1) The social awkwardness and lack of respect for social norms isolates geniuses from their peers. Despite what you may think, they can’t just be entertained by their own minds all the time. Just like anyone else, they don’t want to be alone, and they certainly don’t want to be seen as an outcast.
2) Their high intelligence can make it easy to see all the injustices in our world. This could be on a small scale, like noticing lies they are told that most people are blissfully ignorant to. However, it could also be on a larger scale where they see the inherent flaws of human nature.
All these points are very much a part of my pattern...great, I didn't want to be a genius.

Geniuses are not everytime become genius because they have these traits. They are just the traits of people who have become genius but that does not mean that everyone who have these traits become genius. Except the focus even I have all the traits and I am sure every person in the world have these traits.
Geniuses are made because of there hardwork and dedication towards their trade whether it is science or art or any other field. It takes lot of sacrifices and hardwork to become a genius so we cannot make fun of them by saying that they we are equally intelligent to them. The ones who have proved that they are deserving of calling genius are true genius.

A lot of the qualities shown in the video are actually things that have had me in a social-anxiety deadlock for a while.
Like even though I know I'm somewhat smart and had this "scientifically" proven to me once (however dubious IQ-tests may be). I was really convinced that other people must have more of a grip on their psyche since they don't have a messy room, messy clothes and chronic forgetfulness. It also felt like that, since these negative traits existed in me, my success in life would ultimately be taken down by them. I even trained myself to stop asking people too many questions because I didn't want to appear nosy. Thanks for this video for letting me rephrase those behaviours in a more positive context, though that might just be self-justification.
