If it's good enough for a well-renowned physicist, then it's enough for me to hope to strive for more in the future.

I believe that being able to prioritize effectively and efficiently is a sign of high intelligence. Some people, including “smart” people just don’t know what to do next or what is more important to tackle first. I don’t claim to be ultra-intelligent, but my ability to prioritize means that I rarely have to answer to the boss. Being able to prioritize also means I have more ability to do one thing at a time really well as opposed to several things at a time half-assed. Self discipline is a big factor in this trait.

I was always told I was gifted and scored in top percentiles on state tests, but man am I totally the opposite of this right here. I can do pretty much anything I set my mind to but I always feel like I'm slower than other people when it comes to, for example, when I worked as a dishwasher, or at a car wash, or stocking beer for a distributor.
Between my brain thinking about everything, and trying to do it all at once instead of just prioritizing one thing at a time, and having to do things 100% all the time (even when the job wants 75%, so that you can get more done). I always feel like I'm putting in more effort than everyone else to achieve basically the same results. Especially when my more polished 100% goes largely unnoticed, like in the mentioned, more manual labor, jobs I've had.
Am I really so smart afterall? Lol

@@derekspringer6448 discipline is a learned behavior. It takes practice. It sounds like you already know that you can do better, so you’ve got step 1 out of the way. From there you just need to make a conscious effort to do only one task at a time. And just remind yourself of the task at hand whenever your mind begins to stray.

One big problem is that nowadays, intelligence is all about remembering what you "learned"
You can go to school as a child, fix an electric fan and everyone will go "Wow! You're so smart!" But you fail the class and the words are now "Wow! You're incredibly stupid! You can't do anything. You won't ever find success!"
The only moments people appreciate these attributes is when they need it the most, but once the problem is solved they'll go back calling you an idiot.

That is a very sad truth.
However, if the option of others is what guides your plans in life, I suppose someone would give up due to no positive feedback?
Or what if someone received encouragement even through failure??
Would it be a worthy advantage to dust yourself off and try again??

1 - I can adapt quickly in new environments and feel save and chill in them.
2 - I question a lot of things. Thou that sometimes is problematic in a relationship, due to trust concerns, I just can't stop doing it. It also increases my curiosity in a wide range of topics, but not all.
4 - I like doing a lot of different stuff, therefore I learn a lot of new stuff. Right know I learn japanese, increase my programming skills and try to figure out content creation.
5 - I did doodle during school and before I was doing home office, but stopped with covid.
6 - I thing reflexion is key to a happy and healthy life. Everyone should do it, to not only enhance your life, but the lifes of your loved ones as well!
7 - As already mentioned, I am super open to new topics. Especially when I talk to new people I try to dig into the topics they know about best.

Wait but, the more intelligent an animal is people find they need toys (aka a form of entertainment) to stop them from getting bored, especially humans so that kinda makes no sense? HJKL
      edit:
to anyone still replying, idr anything about this so I don't know how to respond -- ig what i was saying is just that the more intelligent an animal is, the more entertainment they need to keep their brain going, you can daydream and stuff but you can't do that all the time because eventually you'll get bored or something like that idrk lol
like, for example, spiders don't need any form of entertainment. They wait for bugs (i think, I'm no entologist, ik jumping spiders are smart -- but even then they don't have entertainment from what I understand) and do basic survival things. Animals, like dogs, need to play and socialize or they'll become depressed. Humans also need to have entertainment or they'll become bored, and even depressed if they don't socialize. Dogs are smarter than spiders and need entertainment, and humans are smarter than dogs and need more forms of entertainment (a dog could do the same thing over and over and not get bored, but a human can't if that makes sense). So, if you were intelligent, yes you can be entertained by merely your thoughts and daydreams (which is a unique human thing), but that won't last forever (like younger me thought this suggested, I don't think the quote meant that lol), your mind will eventually want to do something.
but like i said, don't expect a reply because idr any of this -- that's just what i think i was saying lmao
i do agree with what @soniccookie655 said and I think he explains it better than I just did too lol
edit 2: Now people are writing paragraphs, omg 💀
Idk what is happening anymore please stop replying it's been a year

@@pinkfluffy82 Also, highly intelligent people learn quickly, so new stuff gets boring before long. They also make connections to previous things they’ve known, so the object or activity is less new than it otherwise would be. Just thinking doesn’t entertain most people.
Highly intelligent people are also prone to depression, which makes the world less interesting and gives you less energy to seek out new entertainment.

      @fanartgalaxy1352 2 года назад +35

@@NM-xj6om I am not the best at explaining it, but it is a developmental disorder that shows itself in having big problems with socializing, communicating and social understanding. It has complex disturbances in the nervous system, especially in the perceptual processing. That basically means that people who have autism feel everything like 2 times more. They hear everything louder, smell everything more etc. That costs a lot of energy processing all these things in a day and if we have too much, we react in different ways. Some get aggressive, some just so tired that they don’t "function" anymore and in the worst case some pass out. People with autism also think in a way different way than people without it and also have a unusual way of thinking and problem solving (which isn’t always a bad thing, for me it’s a big benefit). That’s it :) If you still don’t understand it, look up a professional definition or ask someone professional. I just explained it with a google definition and the symptoms I had/have, which one of them is the social understanding, that’s why psychology explains to me how humans work and are how they are. Hope it helped, have a nice day :)

I think one of the most intelligent traits anyone can develop is admitting you aren't experienced in an area and asking for help from someone who's had more experience. Also I don't really doodle, but when I'm focusing on something I often have a fidget toy or stress ball that I'm messing with in the background, I have an infinity cube on my desk for example.

I find this fact extremely interesting as it reminded me of this time in 5th grade when my teacher yelled at my entire class because the “majority of us were always doodling on our school work”. She became so annoyed by this that if we doodled on any type of work we had to hand in to her, she would take 1 point off for each doodle. Now I’m having the realization that she was actively making it harder for us to learn whether she knew it or not.

    My thoughts:
1: I’m not one for the same old day-to-day routine; if things aren’t in a constant cycle of change, variety, and newness, I do what I can to refresh my sitch in some way.
2: My favourite question is “Why?” (with “How?” coming in at a close 2nd), and it’s rare for me to not question something that others may take at face value if there’s clearly room for improvement. I’ve used the Power of Why as a key part of my cognitive toolbox since childhood; it really is that powerful. Believe it. Or perhaps ask why it’s so powerful instead… see? Told ya! 😉
3: My best friend finds not knowing something to be a curse, as if you don’t know it, then how can it possibly benefit you in any way? In my case, not only am I unfased by not having all the facts from the start, but I find the idea of not knowing something to be a thrilling opportunity to learn something new and amazing, and expand my repertoire of knowledge that can then be used in some way, whether to make a contribution to others (even if it’s simply relaying that information) or to create something fun to share.
Quote: “If you immediately know the candlelight is fire, then the meal was cooked a long time ago.”
4: Basically the same as #3, with an addendum that sometimes I get a little obsessed with knowledge binges, usually after finding a tasty “appetiser” that leads into a wikiloop, multiple tab openings, ploughing through a whole triple-digit count thread on Reddit, etc.; basically, it _is_ possible to feel bloated after hours spent researching a huge meta-topic after reading a single factoid, and being hooked and reeled in like a barramundi on an Aussie coastline… oh, I think I feel an urge to research Ichthyology coming on! 🐡
5: Yes, I do get bored, usually as a result of points made in #1. If it’s mundane and/or repetitive, I either find a new way to do it, shake it up just enough to reduce the monotony, or find something else to do instead. Simple, yet effective, just as any task should be… but it should still be fun.
6: Hm… I suppose I “doodle” in a way, except in my case it’s more letting my mind wander into a sort of “mindful breather,” releasing the focus and letting my thoughts wander a little while still remaining attentive enough to absorb the necessary gist; this is more likely to happen during long stretches of filler words and speech patterns, recitation of already-known information, or simply an inherent disinterest and/or minimal necessity in a given topic. No _wonder_ primary school became so… _boooooooooring_ to this precocious preteen. They were trying to teach me what I either knew or could infer all on my own, *instead* of what would’ve _actually_ benefitted my intellect, interests, and attention span! 😅
7: Mindfulness of others, as well as myself, is a constant subroutine of mine that’s always active no matter what. If someone’s hurting, I pick up on it almost immediately, yet I choose carefully when to intervene and/or offer my support: sometimes, if a person is going through some tough emotions, they’d rather be left to process them alone, especially if they’re an introvert; conversely, if they need help with what’s on their mind, or even just someone to hear them out, more often than not they come to me, even if we’re total strangers in public who’ve never met before.
This can also lead to _less_ mindful folks trying to manipulate my empathic nature or take advantage of it, though I’m now much more savvy in distinguishing between someone in genuine need of comfort and an unscrupulous character who seeks only to use me as a tool. Doing what’s best for each in a case-by-case basis is the best choice in any encounter, as it means less overextension of personal resources and more focus into contributing to causes that truly need such support. 💚
8: I’m always open-minded and tolerant of others (within reason); no matter someone’s personality, background, history, etc., the benefit of the doubt is always among the first things applied to any newly met individual or group. One thing I’ve learnt over the years is that you’re far more likely to succeed via making friends than enemies, and to this day I still strongly believe this to be so.

I'd say that this is a very odd list, considering a lot / most of those things are found in / done by the average human regularly.
    1. adaptation isn't a natural given to a lot of people, but humans in general are a very adaptive species
    2. sufficient non intelligent people question everything as well
    3. at a basic level we all admit that we don't know everything, we just don't want to admit we don't know about certain things
    4. seek knowledge = human curiosity?
    5. every human will get bored if placed in the right/wrong situation and/or with the lack of his/her preferred stimuli
6+7+8 may be on the spot, although it can still mean a variety of other things besides intelligence
    (6) they may just like to draw and don't remember anything else that happened during doodling
    (7) they may lack self confidence
    (8) they may be indecisive people who can't make up their mind or don't know what to believe because they don't understand

Unless you believe that autistic people and people with ADHD, etc, can't be intelligent, then (1) adaptability, and (6) doodling(?) and (8) remaining open to new opportunities are not at all indicators to smartness. Your brain is made up of many folds, but if you were to lay it all out, you could see and compare to others. (Think even biology and how surface area determines the rate at which diffusion occurs in cells). I never really thought of myself as really intelligent but I also realized that I’ve done pretty much everything the video has said. My number one motto is pretty much to always stay open because that’s the only way that we can help each other is to tell the people closest to you what is happening at all times. I have always felt that I was extremely sensitive to seeing changes in myself and other people. For example this one time my friend seemed slightly off and I asked him if he was OK and he said he felt completely fine; but the very next day he was home sick. I just need to remember to tell people more often that the changes that I’m sensing probably aren’t just a gut feeling since a lot of times it’s actually true. Although whenever they say that they’re fine or something like that I usually think of that as the truth and not my own intellect. My biggest weakness is in action because sometimes I think for such a long time that I never make a move whenever my point is correct. I always want to change my perception when I am wrong instead of continuing to try to prove my point if the situation is serious just to resolve the conflict. Another big problem of mine is whenever I start thinking on my own I’ll usually be thinking for hours on end without any coordination (but I think that’s probably because of my SID). Although now I’m taking some herbal medication for it and it’s helping me a lot. Most of my friends are way smarter than me (math-wise) but I’m always the one to bring them back to the subject and try to help them. Does anyone else feel around the same way about most of these things? I’d love to hear!

You might find identifying your Myers-Briggs type helpful. My guess from your description is that you may be an INFP or Introverted, iNtuitive, Feeling, Perceiving type. From a quick Google search: INFPs tend to be creative problem solvers. They are often deeply thoughtful, curious, and imaginative learners. They're incredibly motivated by their own core values-and equally curious about the values of others. In general, they strive for and value continuous personal growth. From my experience with strong Ps, they may be so busy gathering info & planning that they delay action, as they’re not sure they have enough info…

I find that I reside somewhere in-between introverted and extroverted, I’m pretty sure that I was actually around 57% or so on the extroverted side which is pretty balanced. I don’t have too much time to talk about this right now, but my fine-tuned sensitivity to my surroundings hasn’t changed as I am still able to perceive when things are wrong with people and my environment. I’ve noticed that a lot of my friends are chronically online now which makes me sad. I’ve taken internet fasting and got rid of most of my notifications which helps me with this problem a lot. People wonder why the whole world is depressed, but it’s actually pretty obvious and right in our pockets the whole time. I wish I had more time to talk, but just know that the internet age is crumbling because we prefer fake individuality over community. It is always best to have people in real life that care about you and your problems rather than resorting to ANYTHING online. People here are brutal because we are all lonely and think that social media will help fix these issues, but then supply addiction and an idea of false-belonging instead. If you have any friends that are always on TikTok or even just on their phones all the time, please let them know that they are loved deeply. I hate to see the direction that our society is going and it can only be fixed by helping and caring for each other.

For example, being with new people or learning things in a brand new way, takes a lot of my energy. I really love to doodle whenever i have classes or draw in my free time. I learn most things visually, so it helps me in many ways when i draw notes, instead of writing them down.

@@Sarawarawara- I think people who boast about their IQ are quite dumb because IQ is only a small fraction of intelligence (even EQ and IQ combined isn't imo even half of true whole intelligence). Even IQ tests doesn't really measure IQ correctly because you can train those by training your logical thinking. Overall intelligence is so broad concept that it can never be measured and even people who may have low IQ and EQ, may be more intelligent by their experiences and hard work compared to someone with high IQ and EQ but who doesn't have experience or make use of that IQ/EQ of theirs.

Those who are "intelligent" tend not to be humble, they tend to be arrogant and ego driven I'm here talking about those who are the 1 in 100 people, i.e they were one of, if not the smartest person in their school, or at least they think they were. The truly gifted, i.e those who are IQ 150 + do tend to be humble and they will likely exhibit all the attributes listed to a varying degree. However you likely won't know they are that smart, unless you work/school with them in an environment that they like and where they have the opportunity to demonstrate how stupidly smart they are. They tend to be the nerds, the loners who don't fit in etc.
When they get older and realise that it's not arrogant to repeat what others say, they may admit that other people keep telling them how stupidly smart they are, but rarely will they ever tell anyone how smart they are, mostly because they frequently don't realise that they are.

In school I remember leaning about different intelligences and teachers teaching it very well but there was a bit of subliminal messaging that IQ was still the top dog. And wasn’t talked about. beautiful in its way of keeping a confusing-lesson-about-education alive.
And now after facing my fears in the matter really embraced my intellect.

I am able to view certain situations in number base, probability and even statistical variation. I have never felt intelligent, quite the opposite because I feel that what I know everyone should know. But if that is true, where did this information on enzyme kinetics come from and all this abstract knowledge of neurophysiology come from??? Um, forget that last part...I DON'T DOODLE!!!

Remember that nearly everyone is brilliant at some thing, but most people never find out what. You can be gifted and not be good at math. Don't let anyone else's judgements define you.

Let's say they just lack interest, no matter how much they try to be interested in a conversation sometimes, like, their brain and heart will say "whatever, I might be feeling something, but it doesn't seem to be that deep, so we're moving on now".
What do you think of this situation? Is this some kind of emotional disease to cure? Is this some sort of unwanted narcissism? What will happen to these kind of asocial people in the long running? Will they completely fail in life or never build a decent career? Is there a way to change their opinion and actually make them a little more interested in building connections (in the least artificial way)? Asking for a friend, since I'm kinda worried.

Here are my 10 extra tips to INCREASE your daily manifestations that I’ve learned over the years..👇🏾
    1. Practice gratitude every morning. When you wake up, list everything that you are grateful for and feel that gratitude in your core. Feel free to write things down in a journal so it is easy for you to remember.
    2. Replace your negative thoughts with positive ones. Every time you feel a negative thought coming on, make a positive spin on it right away.
    3. Take ownership for things that happen in your life. It's easy to blame others however you will feel much better when you realize that most issues stem from us.
    4. ALWAYS believe that good things are about to happen. By being open to new possibilities you are inviting abundance into your life.
    5. Remember that like attracts like so you get back whatever you put out, whether it is good or bad. So do good AND received good.
    6. Meditate for five minutes a day. During this time focus on how you want your life to be; but place your focus on how you feel AND feel that feeling as if you have already accomplished those goals.
    7. Step outside of your comfort zone. Stop playing it safe and make that decision to finally go for your dreams.
    8. Focus on activities that make you feel truly happy. When you are truly happy you have the best vibrational frequency to manifest your desires.
    9. Avoid the naysayers and surround yourself with people who only lift you higher. Downers will be downers, don't let them drag you into their misery.
    10. Don't be afraid to dream and know that you are always supported by the universe.
    Hope this helps!

It’s beautiful, the part where she talked about meta-cognition I do all of the time! If I don’t know something and I know part of a word or a word root or an association I’m equipped enough to look further and educate myself to explain something as best as I can in a new field and I’ve become more open to fields outside of my interest!
Now that is limitless human potential and awareness! Every modicum of information we humans gather on a daily basis leads elsewhere and expands and expands exponentially leading us to discover answers that were there the whole time! It’s why I love learning and drawing connections between fields of science and technology not previously thought before! I think science will become have to become broad-scoped rather than narrow/pigeonholed to tackle today’s challenges and to birth new titans like Newton and Franklin. Reader, maybe you or I could be the giants whose shoulders we stand on!

That's so interesting! I had a little notion of these things from observing the people around me, but it's great to see these things explained with the proper studies and the points of view from each writer.
This is just my observation and it's not founded at all (I didn't do my research) but I think it's very common for intelligent people to question their capabilities the most, comparing themselves to other people. Cuz they are more aware of their difficulties and flaws, even if their know about their strengths too, it's easy to feel like you're not as good as other people may think. That becomes a pressure with time, and eventually the person is thinking that others can see their flaws first and judge them before they can show their strengths. But then they end up trying so hard it looks to others like they're showing off. And sometimes that leads to being anxious about what others are thinking.
That's what's happening to me anyway.
Also, the thing they said about getting bored and always looking for more information... I don't know about you, but that usually backfires on me. I either look for a distraction in the internet or a book (that's actually how I found this video) or jump right into something else I'm interested in. And if I'm not finished with the previous thing, then I'll be abandoning a project and I never end up finishing anything.
    That happen often to others?
