Out of all the 3rd party Springers I've seen so far, will admit, this one looks pretty darn good.
The shoulder pads are meant to be on the side. It's not just personal preference, check the pic at the back of the box. The shoulder pads are placed behind the arms only for packaging.
I love how he isn't super complicated and actually feels like a figure you can just "open and play" with

I got mine this week and while I agree the alt modes aren't perfect there's something quite refreshing to have a bot mode with a ton of quality articulation and a decent weight for just over £50. I think it's quite a strong release for a new company and I think I'm going to struggle justifying replacing him with one of the other 3P's for 2-3 times the price. Also, I think you invented a new word 'lumbersome'. I like it :)

If wasn't for the face sculpt i would get this figure i need a good Springer.......Damn!
I would have liked, instead of instructions, good static images of each form from a couple different angles each.
I do like that the transformations feel rather intuitive and easy to figure out. Also, this is the first figure in some time that I will just pick up with and play with without thinking about it.
A truly fun and great figure...
My Big Spring should be arriving tomorrow. I can't wait.
Ben, I've been wondering, can the yellow flaps on his shoulders fold down when the shoulder pauldrons are rotated forward/onto the side of his shoulders? I haven't seen anyone fold them except for transformation, but I feel his shoulders might look better if you could fold them down in robot mode.
love how he looks in all modes but hate how big he is
Car mode kinda looks like it should have a trailer hitch.
I have Allen and I've got my eye on FT's version, so I might give this guy a miss. Looks good, but nothing really impressive for me I'm afraid.
That said, if they did a repaint, I might snag one. Or, if I find one cheap, I might mod it into an original character.
This will be my springer. I believe this costs half if compared with fanstoys or xtransbots.

Although most of the recent offerings are pretty G1 accurate overall, I've hated every single car mode we've gotten for Springer. In fact, I think the only car mode I've ever liked was the Generations Voyager Springer. I'm also probably in the very extreme minority, but I actually really like the Toyworld Springer despite his flaws, which for my version, were pretty few. No, he's not really much of an MP, but he at least scales well enough with them, and deviates enough from the G1 look to standout on his own, IMO.

Better than Allen. That oversized Generations Arcee is a nice place holder until someone does an actual Masterpiece figure of her.
Just got him what a wonderful figure. Once I say what Hasbro was bringing out said screw that I'm buying this. Hasbro's Jetfire on the other hand looks fantastic.

Ben, can you point to a video or give me your thoughts on MP pricing? SHould Powerglide, cosmos, brawn, windcharger and the like be 70$ Should bots like Hot Rod and the new seekers automatically be 100+. These seem to be priced on popularity and not build quality in all cases, but I am very new to this.
When I look at the new sunstreaker, I can see sort of why its 100, but then is huffer $ less cool than coolsville for 100 ( you can get him for slightly less after shipping.
doro626 stay away from coolsville even though he averages for about 70-75 bucks new. It's not a bad looking figure but everyone I know personally that bought one ended up having it break on them. Maketoys and generation toy are the way to go, maketoys for g1 and gtoy for idw. You'll love either so you can't go wrong whichever way you go. If you want a springer, Allen is around 50 bucks at bigbadtoystore and it's one of the biggest bang for your buck figures you can pick up for dirt cheap right now that isn't a knock off with doubledeck/twincast (blaster) for 49.99 at bigbadtoystore being another.

I'm seriously debating if I want to go into season three. The junkions say yes, but the versions of Arcee and hotrod and the test print that was leaked of Kup say no. The ultramagnus looks so plasticy, but i guess he is toon accurate.
Allen is around 50 bucks plus 4 dollars shipping at bigbadtoystore right now. Until someone gives me something more accurate, particularly in robot mode, I'm going to stick with that. It's obviously not perfect but it's still a really cool, really well done figure with a really nice cartoon aesthetic and nothing else released is worth much more than that imo so Allen is going to stay as my placeholder for the time being. Thanks for this review, I was curious about this figure but the price,overall aesthetic and that Chinese looking facesculpt makes this an easy pass.

It makes no sense to me why they didn't include instructions. In a retail release no less.

I think he looks great aside from that face. Allen is just too damn thick and chunky and whatever the other option is looks too far from screen or G1 toy accurate. We all have our opinions though. This is definitely my favorite of the options.
Just gotta fix that plain face.

I'm sorry, but the fact that you couldn't be bothered to put the shoulder bits into the proper position when shooting the review, despite them being shown in the correct position on the package, then knock the figure for them being in the way and sloppily edit in bits when them correctly placed is just infuriating.
