  • Adham Beydoun explains to Terry Foster WHY the Detroit Lions should be contending for the NFC North come Year 3 under Dan Campbell. Adham argues that three off-seasons is enough time to not only add the talent required to content, but is enough time to evaluate Dan Campbell as a Head Coach in terms of his potential. Draft picks like Penei Sewell, Amon-Ra St.Brown, Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams have sped up the rebuild significantly. Do you agree with Adham Beydoun? Should the Detroit Lions Contend for the Division under Dan Campbell in Year 3?

      The Lions should contend THIS year. I'm not firing coaches if they don't, but they have the talent and coaches in place that THEY want, if they aren't in contention for a playoff spot this year its' on BH and DC, they can't blame MP/BQ anymore, this is the team these guys made.

    Hopefully they’re drafting a franchise QB in year 3. It ain’t DC’s fault that he’s stuck with Goff as QB

    Adham, I was more upset when they fired Swartz. What did they have, the 2nd ranked def, and the 13 ranked offense? Turned around and let Scott Lenehan go, and knew they were going to lose Suh, and Fairly, and drafted Ebron. Swartz stood up for this team when they were getting @#$%. He was doomed.

    • @PredatorKingdom
      @PredatorKingdom 2 года назад

      Same here, I was so upset when they let go of Schwartz, I think they killed a potential championship run there. He was really building the team from the ground up their defense was going to reach 2nd under him. They probably wouldn't had drafted Ebron because that was Caldwell's call from what I heard. Schwartz would've likely taken Donald. I loved how Schwartz defended his team.

    I think year 3 is when you’ll really know how good a coach DC is. Last year was his first year (I don’t count his time in Miami). He’s a good coach but not a guy who comes in year one and takes over the league. Year 2 he should have more confidence to do the things maybe he was cautious to do year one. Year 3 he’ll know his style he is comfortable with and we’ll know if that style truly wins games consistently.

    Brad Holmes is the most qualified GM ever? U do know he was a scout for the Rams right? I don't think "qualified" is the word you're looking for. Maybe the most potential, but this is new to him still.

  • @TheMrStats

    I been watching this game too long to not know that luck is just as important as talent, all it takes to derail an entire season is 1 or 2 significant injuries. When Campbell and Holmes were brought in they had a clear plan on how to build this team, we're in the 2nd off season and personally I love the direction, that being said, an injury and or injuries can derail this whole thing, if that's the case then I'd be willing to give them year 4 and even 5. Either way only time will tell

    My main concern this season is if Goff can stay healthy. If he gets hurt our season is pretty much over. I don’t trust Boyle or Blough to win us anything. But I also believe in our o line. It being a top 8-10 o line in the league it should be able to protect him.

  • @dcarman686
    @dcarman686 2 года назад +1

    The problem with the Lion's is that it took too long to rebuild. They would nail the first overall pick and that was it. 07 Calvin Johnson, 09 Stafford, 2010 Suh, 2011 Fairley, and in 2013 best draft Anseh/Slay/Warford. They signed Golden Tate in 2014. At that point of time the Lion's hit their ceiling. You could see the team getting worse under Caldwell. In 2015 lions lose Suh and Fairley and in 2016 they lose Calvin Johnson. Terry you could see this team getting worse. Brad Holmes know this and with back to back 2021 and 2022 drafts we will start to see results.

  • @ChewinFat

    I believe it’s after year 4 because in year 3 I expect them to take a young qb and that will be a developmental year for that position. In year 4 with a full season under the young qbs belt I expect with a full deep roster by that point for them to compete for a title and if they don’t I see them going for a young offensive mind to take the team to the next level. To some degree I believe Dan Campbell is the coach brought in to change the attitude and culture of a team that was in the dumps, there was no way Detroit was getting a high powered coach or a hot up and comer to come in there after the depleted roster left by the last regime. I view Campbell almost like I view Goff something of a place holder and perhaps he was brought in for his attitude and outlook to change the perception of Detroit amongst the other coaches in the league and for players as well. I think they took a flyer on the coach in Dan Campbell because they fell in love with the man if that makes sense. If he doesn’t win after year 4 with a built roster by then and a young talented qb I see Holmes and the Lions moving onto a young offensive minded coach especially since Dan would have created a driven work environment and installed accountability to the organization by then and made it much easier for a young hot shot coach to come in there and take the rains because the players and the organization as a whole will be operating as a well oiled machine by then leaving the young coach the ability to just focus on coaching and not having to change the outlook and mindset of the whole team and organization and city. Just my outlook on it.

    i agree with terry. adham we have played merry go round to much in this franchise i think we need to go until year four before we start expecting playoff wins and div. champs. i would even go so far as to say year five unless the team has turned on mcdc. you need to remember this is a young team. and if goff don't work out and we pick up a rookie qb we can not expect him to win consistently until his third year.

  • @Pheardom

    Caldwell was good in a way that pundits forget.
    7-1 against the Bears
    5-3 against the Vikings
    4-4 against the Packers.
    Caldwell needed a GM that would bring him talent. We know that BQ blamed Caldwell for mediocrity but when BQ brought in MP the Lions got worse, not better. Bob Quinn was the problem, NOT Caldwell. Caldwell needed to be able to keep his good players and get better players, BQ was NOT able to do that.
    Prove me wrong.

    The Lions need to keep the high draft picks on the team in order to change the culture in Detroit, you can't win when players leave and you can't keep rebuilding every 2-3 years.

      Absolutely when Quinn Got hired he already had his mind made up that he was bringing his friend Patricia in as Head coach and the reason that it didn't happen year one was because the owners made the decision to keep him on as Head coach if it was up to Quinn he would have been gone the same year.

    Adham is so wrong here in terms of logic and appraoch. We just saw it with Harbaugh. Especially when you're talking about a team that hasn't won in a long time, you've gotta be patient if the positive signs are there. He says about winning a division within 3 years, "it can be done". Just because it's possible, you want to fire a guy for failing to do it? It's not expected, its just possible. So falling short of quick, home run success, the absolute best case scenario, you're gonna blow it all up?! No way man

    Adham’s takes are awful, he claims campbell is still a maybe and holmes is a great gm based on one season and 1.75 offseasons. Holmes has seemed competent, yes, however we have no idea how these players will turn out. Even Sewell, who had a solid rookie season, could be a bust if his performance doesn’t improve. To act like you can judge a gm and/or coach based off this small a sample is stupid. How does this guy come out here and act like an expert constantly. “Jim Caldwell reached his cieling after 4 years” says the guy who couldn’t even get a job coaching a peewee team.
