I'm currently a clarinet player in high school and I finished my first year of marching band and I loved it so much! There are soooo many stories I could tell and my friends are all in it. I'm definitely doing it again in the fall!

6:24 this happened to me twice in my marching band years. Sadly I was a flute player so I had to tuck my flute under my uniform because woodwinds CANNOT get wet. Luckily, most of everyone’s sheet music was dry thanks to the waterproof covering on it
You were allowed to have sheet music during the halftime show? Or sheet music for stand tunes in the bleachers?
@@johanmm2337dang we have to memorize EVERYTHING. No shower music allowed at any performance, the only time we can is during rehearsal when we’re indoors
@@johanmm2337 Yes I should have specified. We were outside for a veteran’s day parade march and it was so the younger kids wouldn’t mess up because in the words of our director, “I’d rather you play the music right than look good while doing it.”
Of course, if a few kids are using their lyres then the whole band has to match (as uniformity was always a big factor).

I'm currently a clarinet and alto saxophone player at my high school and next year will be my senior year , and I'm proud to say, I'm a Band kid! Your videos have always brought Joy to my life. It is true, marching band brings great stories.

Tbh my band director is the best, he is the most chill teacher I've had, if we mess up, he just tells us to keep going and doesn't waste our time just practicing with that one group that messed up

Getting up early for summer band camp the Friday night football games in the fall the Pizza afterwards, the out of town band trips in the spring and everything in between. Lots of blood, sweat and tears but it was so much fun and worth it in the end, my 4 years in high school marching band were the best years of my life miss those days big time. For those of you still in high school, enjoy because time flies.

I remember for Marching Band one time, we had to play in the pouring rain as we were marching on the field one time. As we were waiting for our performance, it started drizzling, but by the time we were on the field playing, it was pouring. I’m a clarinet player as well . _ .
Nobody quit either, It was actually really cool to see
I went to a competition, we were the ONLY band that day who got rained on. And when I say it rained, it POURED. Of course, the sky cleared immediately after our performance. One of the most interesting competitions I've ever been to.

Which band were you in? I am a clarinet and I just finished my 1st year of marching season competitions. It was really fun but my band had some hard competition considering that one of the bands we went up against made it to the national contest. Also, that trumpet playing was absolutely beautiful, no wonder the ladies were attracted to you. I relate to the rain story and I was so scared for my clarinet since rain absolutely ruins clarinets and I had a performance ON MY BIRTHDAY, IT RAINED AND I LITERALLY HAD TO SPEND AN HOUR IN A TUNNEL DURING THE PERFORMANCE(also it was a football game).

Two times this year did my band get rained out at major events. First was our home show which was also regional championships. We were not able to perform our best as there was a tent covering our rhythm section. The second time was during the Philadelphia holiday parade where there was a downpour the whole time. It was also televised, so that was pretty awkward.
That's sad. Hopefully there's good weather next year lol. I play trumpet in a middle school band in a district close to philly as well. During covid, we were playing outside but it was sooo windy. Our music was flying and stands were falling and that was kinda funny. Did you see the Philadelphia orchestra rehearsal in December at verizon hall? I was there.
