Over the last couple of days since receiving my Sculpfun S30 Max 20W I have been taking two steps forward and then three steps back, until that is I found your channel and what a great of fresh air it is. You explain things slowly and clearly and no matter if your new or experienced the content is of huge value. I had been watching the Lightburn channel but although very good I have found they assume a basic knowledge and don't really go down the the very basic level, not a criticism but an observation. Finding your channel has allowed me to really make progress on this fascinating hobby. Thank you thank you thank you from a wet and windy London UK

    Rich, Excellent Video!! I had already downloaded the library you provided from the bb so I just made some changes to the existing files. I added the new ones to the existing plywood and cardboard. I did do the metric to imperial conversion so was working with the right thickness. I’m telling ya,, this almost seems like drinking from a fire hose. Did my first 3 burns today on plywood today and at 80% power and 3000 they were great! Only problem I had was centering the art on the workpiece; took several frame attempts to get it close. Then went through your vid on cutting board family tree to get a tip on using laser at 1% so will try that. Your videos are a very great help! I will get myself set up to help support. Thanks again!

    I am sure to already know this, but in case you don't your your name comes up so many times when someone has a tough question (easy ones also). You are making a difference to a lot of people
    Question/Thought
    Have you ever developing a list of your settings for your D1 Pro
    I know that we need to do are on tests but I bet you have hundreds may more than a thousand different projects, and us new people would benefit from a starting point when it comes to power and speed.
    I think people would pay money for this type of resource from such an experienced person like yourself.
    Of course, there would need to be a disclaimer stating that it is only a guide and people need to test their machine
    Let me know when it is ready to buy. 😂 Thanks

After three days of watching your videos you have opened up an entirely new insight. I am now setting and learning the correct and easy way to use this software. Thank you for all you are doing. There are a lot of people out there that know how but they are hard to listen to and they don’t know how to teach. You sir are easy to listen to and you teach well. For me, it's a bit confusing, but after I do it a few times, I'm sure I'll get it. One question. I have two computers. One in the house that I work on my projects in the evenings on in Lightburn, the other is in my office in a detached garage where my laser is. What would be the best way to copy libraries from one computer to the other? Could I just make a duplicate of my file structure on say a flash drive, and copy it exactly to the other computer? I'm sure I would have to first make the structure on both computers, but will Lightburn see it from one computer to the next, as long as I point to it in Lightburn? Thanks for your videos...

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, just copy the main folder, Lightburn, and everything inside it copies as well. Before I got my NAS, I used to use a flash drive plugged into my Wi-Fi router. This way any computer on the Wi-Fi could access, read and write to it.

    Hello, I love your channel, nobody explains like you. I congratulate you for helping people like me who have no idea how to start on this topic. Could you help me, how many mm are there from the laser to the mdf wood to be able to cut it. I have already more than a month with the Ortur Master 2 20w and I only manage to burn the 3mm mdf, it does not cut it. Thank you

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  2 года назад +1

      The default focal distance for the LM2 is 29mm (from the bottom of the lens to the object) for engraving. To cut, you deduct 1/2 the thickness of the workpiece. So, for example, if you want to cut 6mm, you would lower the focus to 26mm Joaco.

      It's a descriptor column. You can name it whatever you want. For instance, I have layer #29 named, "Ebonizing Iron Acetate" and the settings for that layer are 2000/50. So whenever I want to run a job of this kind, I just put it on that layer. Once you name it and set the settings, click Make Default at the bottom of that window and it will save all of that info for that layer.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy  2 года назад +1

      Bonjour Stephen, etching is a chemical process, usually done on glass and metals, while engraving is a physical process done via a machine with a router or a laser; both are actually CNC machines. Laser engraving is a process that vaporizes materials into fumes to engrave permanent, deep marks on other materials, like wood, metals, leather, cardboard, etc. The two terms are used interchangeably by hobbyists though they are completely different processes. Cutting is exactly what it sounds like; you set the intensity higher and the speed lower to cut all the way through the material. Thank you for the question! 👍

    • @michaelkeymont501
      @michaelkeymont501 2 года назад

      There is a type of person who makes these types of comments. No, I’m not attacking you, Steve, but I happened to have been involved in a project at Bose where they decided to play music in all of the cafeterias. The overwhelming majority of people were happy about it and many people had suggestions for the type of music we played, some folks didn’t even notice the change. However, there was a small number of people who were ANGRY about it. One guy in particular repeatedly went into the room where the music server was and DISASSEMBLED it. Security became involved. Cameras were setup to try and figure out what was going on. The guy was caught sneaking into the room and disconnecting all of the cables etc. A different guy was caught on camera messing with the external volume controls. He would turn the volume all the way down and then lock the controls, since he was involved in designing them, he knew how to do it.
      So yes, there are people who are so bothered by the presence of music that they’ll protest and eventually take matters into their own hands to eliminate it. What I can tell you with certainty is that it’s you. I don’t know why, but I know that it’s only a small number of people. Those types often believe that everyone feels the same way, but they don’t. Most people enjoy music in the background. Some people lose their shit…
