This movie has claimed the spot to have one of my all time favorite movie soundtracks. Each track had me in complete awe; melting in my seat in the theater. While I don’t think anything can quite meet the same emotion of the instrumentation used in the original soundtrack, you guys captured it remarkably well in this piano arrangement. It almost brings a different feel to the piece that is unique to the instrument. Still sends chills down my spine. Brilliant work!
discovering the music of this movie and knowing that it's made by ludvig goransson really motivated me to go and experience it in theatres so I'm going next week and I'm so hyped, your comment made me even more hyped
the incredible thing about oppenheimer’s soundtrack is that all songs are both abstract without a clear melody, yet concrete with a specific, powerful emotion each piece is attempting to push. Can You Hear The Music pushes the feeling of awe, power, and wonder in a way I have never heard before…
@@THEBOSS47MLG You can hear the melody, yes, but my point more is that it is abstracted. The melody is essentially just a bunch of glorified arpeggios scales. It's not specific. Compare this to the melodies of John Williams, who makes incredibly specific melodies, and this is where the piece's power comes from. You can hum Hedwig's Theme, but that's a tad more difficult for Can You Hear the Music. This song finds it's power more in dynamics, speed, etc. idk why im responding to a comment i made 9 months ago, ig i just really like this song. and this comment isn't even on the original song... :0
I love how this is supposed to sound hopeful and wonderous as it represents all the thoughts inside of Oppenheimer at the beginning of the movie where all he thinks of is theory and the fabric of the universe. At the end of the movie "Destroyer of Worlds" plays and has a similar theme to this but its much darker and ends almost in a sour note because all he thinks of now is the end of the world he helped create.
god i love this song, it’s tempo and time signature changes are insane and you captured it immaculatelyc even the really nailed the instrumentation, hope there’s a possible version coming :)
@Whitestoneshiresauce Definitely most of it is in 3/4. I'll have to check my transcript to see if changes from 3/4 to 4/4. If so, I'll correct my original comment.
Only the best percussionists can keep time with this piece. Truly a masterpiece, and reminds me of great tracks by hans zimmer because of the way polyrhythms are used. I fell in love with this piece instantly.
@@Alex-02Lookin back on this post, I think I was talking about the polyrhytmic attitudes the compser had with the changes of intervals in the notes; when they chaned from 3 to 4 reminded me of a 3:4 polyrhytm
@@nanobugs933 Polyrhythms need to be simultaneous but now I understand what you mean so fair enough. Also, the relationship between the tempo switches in the melody is not actually 3:4. In fact, the tempos are totally unrelated and quite arbitrary. If anyone’s interested to learn about this check out this video by Charles Cornel and skip to 8 minutes in. It doesn’t let me post links so here’s a search term: “Charles Cornell Oppenheimer”
Out of all the movies I've seen: the movie, the soundtrack/score, and the sound were unremarkably….incredible! I saw it in theaters almost one week ago.
This fills me with a sense of dread due to the scene of the bomb and the potential of a new world just after this event. The way it gets faster, too.. Even though it sounds rather ""happy"", (or hopeful) there's that obvious sense of impending SOMETHING. I love this soundtrack so much. Day 69 of asking for "Toroko's Theme" from "Cave Story"
Did you actually learn that by ear from the original track lol? That’s some next level by ear playing if so, this was absolutely incredible to watch and listen to, and so accurate.
This song made me feel anxious. I wanted to give everything. I felt like a physicist, it was amazing, i never felt something like that. I saw every possiblity oppenheimer had. I was oppenheimer. This movie had a soundtrack that put you in oppenheimer's shoes. We didn't know how but i felt like a bomb threw me out to space, in space i would feel exited, anxious, devastated, inspired, smart. I felt like a complicated person that was brilliant and that wanted to give the best of himself.
Every part of this movie really put into perspective the impact the splitting of the atom, the Atomic bomb, J Robert Oppenheimer himself, had on the world and the effects they play on our world today.
“When I came to you with those calculations, we thought we might start a chain reaction that would destroy the entire world...” “I remember it well. What of it?” “I believe we did”
that must not have been easy to transcribe, very well done Also love the thermal radiation colours of the notes, from red, all the way to the deep blue of extreme temperatures
Pieces like these are why music is everything in a movie. SMB, may i request "Daredevil" from Ace Combat 7? Have yet to see you take a venture into ace combat. All of it's music is good, so there is no shortage of songs to choose from.

No surprise, the Manhattan project has the loudest percussion.
Yea my favorite was the deafening sound of the trinity test, truly one of the soundtracks of all time
If you think this soundtrack is a masterpiece you should check out the Inception and Interstellar soundtrack also

This is actually very well said.
that is how original soundtracks are designed in general. They are made to fit the scene rather than being songs in their own right
its paradoxical, yet it works
The melody is very clear in this piece lol

No signature changes (all in 3/4), but the tempo changes are awesome.

When i loop this song, i feel it's like the 2 faces of the coin, the birth and the death, it's beautiful
As a pianist and a Oppenheimer lover, I both enjoy this song and convincing myself to play it on piano just like you did it on the video.
“If you can play it slow you can play it fast”
Saw Oppenheimer in theaters and it was incredible
What another masterpiece from SMB! I was impressed by the way you expressed the sound of the orchestra into the piano with a great sound editing!

By far the best arrangement of this ....even tho it's impossible to play. But one could break it down and it would still sound better
