I flew on this aircraft as a staff of Malaysia Airline from KL to LAX, seeing it brings wonderful memories and great pride in representing the airline and the great country of Malaysia .Saya sayang Malaysia.
Malaysian Airline System, the name they adopted when Malaysia Singapore Airlines (MSA) split in 1972 and MAS n Singapore Airlines wereborn. Mas is 'gold' in the Malay language and MAS' tagline was 'On Golden Service' in those days.
i was so happy that they brought back one of their 744s and dressed her in their historical livery... Unfortunately she had to go back to the hangar... and currently still unserviceable... due to poor structural condition... sob sob
I flew on this aircraft in the summer of 1988 LAX - NRT - LAX. I spent about 45 minutes on the flight deck on the return leg. Great memory seeing this video!
I spotted this MAS 747-300 one evening at the Tom Bradley International Terminal about 1990 or 1991 when I was a law student at Pepperdine. Same livery. It was thrilling to see it then. Thrilling to see this magnificent video record.
Those good old days...first time flight untuk further studies ke USA, 1988, pesawat MAS DC-10 (logo baru) from Subang Airport, stopover di Narita, kemudian sambung lagi ke Los Angeles. Habis studies, balik naik flight MAS dari LAX Boeing 747 (logo lama, kalau tak silap). Thank you MAS for the good memories, thank you MAS for your excellent service. I can't forget those memorable trips sampai hari ni 👍👍👍😊.
Not sure either this plane registration number was my flight..still remember back at night 1 october 1989, I flew from k.l to london and 2 time stop at abu dhabi and zurich airport for transit pickup. i'm feeling so sentimental to see that big logo Visit Malaysia in this video, as it was promoting Malaysia that time.
It's gone because the Jawi writings - which is basically Malay language written in Arabic font - is passé. Not many Malays write in Jawi nowadays, and few can read it even especially the younger generations.
My heart aches for this machines. These were the days when an aircraft's sound was as big as its frame, and when tri-jets dominated the skies. While I love today's aircraft too, I just miss the giant aircraft of my childhood deeply...if I could go back in time for any reason, it would be to catch a day at LAX or JFK in 1989.
Hi Ryan, very nice old video that's bring back old memory. See that Blue Flag with Arabic description that said "Malaysia Airlines System" in english next to Malaysia Flag, well that's gone now. Don't know why...The Big word Malaysian..now just Malaysia...
747-3H6M The M means it is a Combi version (half passenger half cargo). The 3H6 means it is a -300 series; the H6 is Malaysia Airlines' unique identifier with Boeing
This was back when the Malaysian currency still have some power against the USD, 1 US Dollar was around 2.5 Malaysian Ringgits. Now it's almost double that.

majestically flown by the professionals. Fly High MAS :)

MAS are reactivating 9M-MPP in a retro livery (This one!) - I'll try and do her justice at Heathrow!!

747 malaysia airlines ( retro ) kini kembali 2016
1984 Malaysia began launch to first trip a Los Angeles USA from Kuala Lumpur with 747 jumbo jet

I was a toddler at the time of these videos. How I wish I could've been the age back then that I am now. These were the times to be alive in aviation!

Pray for MH370.
MAS still one of the best. Love the foods, love the cabin crews!
WOW that's so awesome Ryan!
loved every second of it ryan! all your videos are pure gold!
Nice sounds!
you should call it:BEAUTIFUL TAKE-OFF Malaysian Airlines System Boeing 747-3HM
sangat awesome... 1990... visit malaysia...
@sandrochatlos1, it was recorded near the end of 1989, probably between October & December.
Malaysia Airline will reactivating Boeing 747-400 in a retro style Livery exactly like this one ❤
I like this classic red livery. But was blown away when MAS introduced the star trek-like blue & red livery back in 1987. The latest is just ok ;)
My dad flew on this in 2001 i think, KUL - LHR on the 747. It was the exact livery, and the best drink you could get was a Pineapple Juice
And now there's a 738 with this livery. 9M-MXA, I believe?
Shulkamania - Running Wild Since 2011 yes
Yes but unfortunately for Mas they dont use it
i miss this old livery than the new one for MAS >.
Same
Wow! Very rare livery!
wow amazing! and those engine sounds are amazing too!
malaysia 300 series 747 hot rare route rip Malaysia 370
Those 300 models are huge
its remind me for my trip to uk 1989 with 747, not sure which model, but yet, signage visit malaysia 1990 was at that plane.
I wish they brought this livery back and paint it at 1 a380
bring 747 back and bowtie jacket.

@88mroux same P&W engines as the -100 and -200, the RR version and GE versions sound different.
So RARE!🩷💙🩵🩷💙🩵🩷
Old design from MAS in memory 😍😍😍😍😍

So far, so good ....
2020👍👍
very aesthetic
This was during the golden era of MAS
i wonder where can i find this MAS' plane with this rare paintjob in 2012 ^^
@kidkadbugler errrr.. yeah same paintjob, but not the same aircraft.
the one crashed at Tanjong Kupang was a Boeing 737-200.
Definitely their best livery.
@88mroux, I won't hold it against you :)
I feel the same way.
@j4cko56 don't forget it has it in the -400 and the airbus
MAS 747s with the oldest livery look like TWA's 747s
Direct flight from LAX or transit in Tokyo or Taiwan...? Semua tinggal sejarah... No more US and Europe routex except LHR.
old school but cool...
The JT9D is in the interest of many people! But I rather fly a JT9D powered 767 747 or A300 anyday!
9M-MHK.. Only -300 in the fleet
EPIC
The year where i was born 👶
At one time they had a tag-on leg LAX-MEX.
they sounded better back then. the old noisey engine. class
747 300 and a 3h6m ? or a340 300 and a340 313? whats the difference thank u
747-3H6M

this video is from 1989???
Tahun bila ni?
The good old days when the Malaysians and the thailanders could fly to the us
Oh
This was back when the Malaysian currency still have some power against the USD, 1 US Dollar was around 2.5 Malaysian Ringgits. Now it's almost double that.
i hate the engine shape. one of them at left side was dull. it looks like its going to fall
2021

hell yeah haha i think so
Oldskool :)
9M-MHI or 9M-MHJ????
Neither, 9M-MHK. It's right in the description.
@@RyanBomar yes you are right. Last in service somewhere in mid 90s... Then sole to africaan country... If not mistaken. Correct me
No. MHK was converted to a freighter then sold to Dragonair Hong Kong.
