Thank you so much to everyone for your wonderful comments. It's really heartwarming to be reminded of the genuine love for these albums, and their sleeves.
There are so many genuinely moving comments, it would be impossible to single out any specifically. I simply thank every single person for their thoughts. I really appreciate them.
It's also a reminder of what an absolute privilege it was to work with Nick, John, Simon, Roger and Andy to create the packaging for these milestone LPs.
    Thank you ... Malcolm Garrett

Hi Malcolm, I just read your comment, after adding mine to the mix. I'm glad to see that you also enjoyed reading viewers comments, just as I did. I was fortunate to meet Duran Duran in the early 80s when they toured Australia, and I agree with how delightful they were off camera. I still cherish my photos from my serendipitous meeting (coincidently staying at the same hotel).

This was an absolutely lovely thing to watch! Thank you so much, Mr. Garrett, for sharing your memories with us. If I may ask...one of the designs you didn't address on the bottom right of the cover (and inside the cover) of 'Rio' are the eyes - one closed, one open. Did you design these as well, or did the band choose them? What, if anything, did they mean? I have a tattoo of an open/closed eye based on these designs, so I'd love to know if they meant something more than just additional graphics.

Though "RIO" continuous to be their most iconic and recognizable album cover for DD but, for me, my favorite DD album cover is "Seven and the Ragged Tiger". There's a map, hieroglyphics, treasure marks, tigers and five men that all could've been in a James Bond movie as leading men. C'mon! It's drooling with danger, intrigue and adventure all on one cover!!! How could you not love it???

The Rio and Seven & The Ragged Tiger covers were mysterious, spoke to the music, and reflected modern tastes. The Notorious cover was less dramatic but showed the evolution of the musicians. This artwork was a key component of the whole package and always a pleasure to contemplate.

When the “Seven and the Ragged Tiger” album released, I often wondered what the “Seven” referred to in the album title. It was years later that we learned that the “Seven” refers to the five band members and their two band managers. It’s such a great album title! And the design of the album, with that creative treasure map, is just genius. Malcolm’s graphic artwork on the Duran albums is simply brilliant!

Mr Garrett's design of the first album is perfect! I fetishised that logo and the chrome strips on the sleeve as a teenager in 1981. They fitted the sound and look of the band to a T. To hear about the idea of an international airline logo and the clean, sharp lines of an aircraft behind the design from the man himself is still thrilling after all this time. Thank you.

Thank you, Dear Sir, for being an inspirational part of my youth! It was your work and other contemporaries that moved me to discover I was a graphic artist, too! Although, I rebelled from art school to pursue my musical side - much like Ferry, Eno and other greats - to some pretty fun yet moderate success! I eventually returned to school to completed my degrees in Graphic Design, through which I make day job living today! And, still write, record and release music, including all the graphical and video production

I always loved your sleeves, whichever band it was for, but your work for DD was epic. I loved the consistency of each single release to its parent album, whilst still retaining 3 distinct styles for each album. I always bought the singles in 12” version for two reasons - the extended mixes, but also the larger artwork. Sir, you are a legend!

This man and his work inspired me to become a graphic designer - cannot imagine any other career now. I visited his then company in 1987 (Assorted Images) with some of my fellow design students and got a full tour etc. Malcolm was not there on that day, but the other designers could not have been nicer, and showed us unseen (to me) bits of DD design like the Arena boardgame - obvs my student mind was totally blown. I had the pleasure of creating one of the animated video backdrops for the All You Need is Now tour in 2011, but that would not have happened without MG's inspiration to me.

It is a pleasure to contemplate the covers' intentions. I'm sure DD paid up for Malcom's artwork but that just made the pie bigger for everyone.

So informative & enjoyable. Interesting that Malcolm mentioned "New Sounds New Style" magazine connection, as "The Face" and "Smash Hits" mags seem to be referenced more often when discussing 80s music. Thanks so much Malcolm for contributing to the aesthetic appeal of Duran Duran. I always appreciated your album covers and could see which direction you were coming from with the various style elements. I'm looking at my Patrick Nagel print right now...which I was fortunate to discover in a charity store many years ago. I even have pink & white tulips in a vase placed next to the print...which is my nod to the "Careless Memories" video!
