A long, long time ago, I made a call to one of my regular customers who could not get her system to work at all. She'd been in the attic putting up Christmas boxes and flipped the furnace switch off thinking it was the attic light. I went over, flipped the switch and voila, problem solved. I told her I was not going to charge her but she insisted so I said, "eh, just pay me $20." She would have paid me the usual $80 service call fee but I just could not do it! It helps when the person is very nice and a regular customer. Those are lifelong customers.
@@emilhwilkins3275 How on earth would you write that off? Its still 20 bucks which is taxed. I would of just taken the cash instead. No one is going to bother to "write that off". Writing off tiny thing like that as a loss wont do anything unless you are trying to stay within a certain tax bracket and you needed this. Its not as if 1 service call would do anything. Example..on properties you can write off the value of something. Say carpet, roof etc but all you are really doing is trying to lower the ridiculous high "values" government taxes you on. Taxes are the number 1 expense for everyone. Its beyond absurd that we dont end this.
I just remember 2 years ago some guy called about his a/c, and he turned the breaker off he just wants to see if im honest a/c guy i charge for the trip 85 bucks
I had a call on a unit we had just installed a month before saying they were getting no heat. I went in to check it and found the door on the furnace was not closed. Closed it up and heat came on. They swear they didn't mess with the door.
Hey the other day you was working on a fairly new goodman hp apartment 207 or 307 blowing low voltage fuse you never actually pin pointed short but after moving the press switch wires or something problem went away. I had same problem on same type goodman never found anything infact one time went for a month came back still never found a rubbed wire or nothing have gone 3 times this time I've isolated wires see what happens .76 amp on 3amp fuse. It did blow only when red 24 v wire was connected for now its working.
you might want to "build" network of "trusted" HVAC professionals across the US. You might come up with some kind of certification for them and so on. I would love to call someone by your recommendation. It is always crazy difficult to find proper company to service units.
One guy called me Saturday around 11:58 pm ( i was sleeping 😴) mad because his thermostat wasn't working, and he replaced the batteries . I went on Sunday morning. i put some new batteries, and the a/c works 😂 and he refused to pay for the trip already blocked his phone number
Well if you are in this business long enough , it happens. Hopefully it balances out in the long run! If you are only in for the money, maybe you should run for office!!!
I used to feel bad about these types of call. I don't anymore because they obviously couldn't figure out why it wasn't working and if they hadn't called a service man they wouldn't have an operating piece of equipment.
Just asking out of curiosity. wouldent it somtimes be better for these units to have some sort of roof / shed around them. I mean they are probably build for the Outside but a little build out off 2x4 or probaly wouldent hurt.
I don't think it would need to be that tall, probably only like 20ft. But again, it's not needed. Only sensitive electronics are the main boards, and it's encased inside the unit.

I had a ac unit it had issues every summer for 10 years decided to replace it with a unit 5 times the size of the old one had nothing but issues. I'm thinking just go with window units for $800 I can do 1 for each room of the house
@@MultiTurbospeed Was that the right size for your house? Probably way too big. It will turn on and off too quickly, putting excess wear and tear on your unit. And, the A/C won't run long enough to dehumidify the house. You need to consider not only the square footage, but the ceiling height, how many people will occupy full time, whether the house is shaded or in full sunlight, the general climate, how much insulation there is, etc.

The red wire outside on the heat pump runs the defrost board. Hope that helps isolate the problem.

Outside of taking him to court, you may be able to call the police and have him charged with theft of services.
Go @ night and loosen the shredded valves. He’ll call you in the morning. But it has to be cash up front or nothing

No, it needs to be well ventilated or it will not work properly. Maybe If you built a large shed with some really big / high flow fans and vents
