The idea that affordability is "..Incredibly important to (him)" Is admirable. I am happy to see Epiphone is following through. As I'm looking for a Les Paul with active pups, this particular model just went to the top of the wish list. It's affordable. Where as even the '06 or newer Gibson Gothics cost more used than the Matt Heafy sig is brand new. Makes it an easy choice. Thank you Matt and Epiphone.
I have to say that Matt's desire to make a signature guitar that is affordable to the every man is quite admirable. I've followed his work for the better part of a decade and he never fails to impress both as a musician and a human being, my hat's off to you!
I'am actually a fan of 6 string guitars. You can get this guitar (the 6 string version) for only 580€ (new) in Germany. And its a custom with EMG's. I mean , thats really awesome!
Matt was offered to work with Epiphone or Gibson. He chose Epi so more fans could afford the guitar, versus Gibson where the guitar could cost well over $5,000. If Matt is happy with guitar, it doesn't matter what is on the headstock.
I went to the guitar store with the intension to buy a PRS SE Standard. I saw the Epiphone Les Paul MKH there so, as a big Trivium fan, i had to play it. And it was STUNNING! Way better than any other guitar from this prise range i´ve tested, so I ordered one a few days ago and im super excited for getting my hands on this beautiful guitar! Great Work ;)
Got his 7 string and my god it is awesome, pretty heavy weight wise but isnt neck heavy. As an added bonus the certificate of authenticity is hand signed by matt himself :].
I just ordered one of these (7 string) and can't wait for it. I love the feel of les pauls, and the fact that it's a seven string version just sold it to me. The fact that it's got such a chill guy's name attached is just an added bonus. Hopefully the build quality is as good as he makes it seem, because if it is, it'll be a fantastic guitar for a fantastic price.
+Lennart N I've made it my personal duty that my son has a great practice room and a good guitar/amp setup if/when he wants it. The only thing I'm lacking is a child lol
Lennart N lol I have all the gear and amps and guitar buts the child I have does not like music. crossing my fingers that the second one won't let me down haha
i bought my own at 18,worked 2 weeks spent my entire 2 week check on it other than $50 and starved, then i did the exact same thing with my jcm800 100 watt half stack, work 2 weeks, blow it all on the amp, live of $50 for 2 weeks.
Im not the biggest Trivium fan (they were my thing back in like middle school) but I can say I admire how over all artist, he's the one to be willing to say "I'm going to play the same guitar you can afford." Instead of getting the 1,899 USA version, while everyone else plays the Indonesian 699 version. There are so many artists that have ESP sigs for as of that sell both ESP and LTD models and really are out of the average humans price range.
I love when artists do these kinds of thinks. Not only thinking about themselves but about all of the fans. And wanting people to play the exact same thing as the Performer themselves.
This is probably the best guitar I've ever tested for that range of price. I really recomend this to everyone who loves the LP design as much I do for just ~$850
I recently got a LTD EC-401, switched out the 81 to a 85, so it's running 85/60. It's awesome to play, awesome to see and it's also an affordable guitar. God knows how they could make the ESP versions better, the LTD's are great instruments. I'd go for his guitar tbh. If it's really that faithful to his original Gibbo then go for it, apparently it's going to be at a really appealing price point too. I'll probs be getting the 7 string model. Seems like a good first time 7 string :)
I don't care for Trivium.. I just purchased this guitar from Sweetwater after playing one at guitar center. Best tone ever! Matt is an excellent guitarist but that's about it. Fine guitar Sir!
He actually does play it live. As most musicians he's switching guitars several times during a show. He plays his signature Epi, some of his Gibson LPC's and his Explorer's live
Oh man, this new album is going to be ridiculously heavy. The way he slyly mentioned that there "may" be a new tuning, and the playing at the end definitely sounded lower than drop C# which In Waves was in. But hey, I think this is going to be be an excellent album, and excellent guitar.
Lol Matt looks like a Veteran Death metal guy now haha! He's Always been my favouite Guitar player, Lyricist and Vocalist. Thanks for the amazing guitar Epiphone, you guys always nail it! \m/
I don't really like Trivium... just not my cup of tea, but I really respect Matt as a guitar player and a person. Great to have a musician that wants his signature stuff to be affordable, great guy.
Although I'm not familiar with Trivium I respect Matt (obviously a killer player) for making affordability a priority. Not every adult musician has the income to afford a $4-5,000 signature model. I loved when Joe Bonomassa described his Epiphone signature model as being for kids who are just getting into guitar :/
if its affordable to everyone it better be 20 bucks because im broke as hell. And Matt seems like a really chill guy. Gotta love rock stars ricking an epi
I could be wrong, but he & Corey were given a Dean by Rita to play. They liked it at the time (Dime's death/influence may have had a part to play) but Dean went through a change after/during their Sig model. They weren't happy and may have been contractually obliged to use&promote the guitar. Once all obligations were fulfilled they went back to Gibson and Jackson..
ive always been a huge fan of LPs and LP shapes. idk its like I can really dig in with the bridge where it is and the way the archtop forms to my forearm. I have an Ibanez 307 7string and its a beast and basically looks exactly like Matts guitar, only mine has 25.5" scale and I think this one is standard LP 24.75. anyway... sold my old white LP about 9 months ago and ive been kicking myself ever since the day. so this guitar will be my next one. affordable, great tone woods, and EMG pups...what more do ya need? lol.
+RayzerAnarchy88 Selling a guitar then regretting it is the absolute worst! I had a Gibson LP classic stolen a few years back and it still sometimes keeps me awake at night.
To each his own. Personally I think the Casino headstock looks better. Aesthetics aside, Epiphone is a historic brand. A trusted brand. And if it ever branches out of Gibson territory, it will remain the thorn on Gibson's side with the way quality control and pickup tone have improved thru the years. :) Gibson's biggest rival remains its biggest rival.
thumbs up to heafy and trivium for their modesty and all the good stuff they write. but, with all due respect, even if that guitar has "epiphone" written on it, it doesnt mean he will take a "not so reliable" guitar on stage in front of thousands of people while shooting a dvd. i definitly think that the guitars he will use are by far even better than the stock usa gibsons that most of us cant afford...
The shape and color kinds remind me of my ltd ec1000 vb. Im aware theyre possibly two totally different feeling, and sounding instruments. Still, the idea of an epiphone designed to the specs of a legit gibson custom is pretty interesting, particularly the weight.
There is still a slight difference. When I same them live, and even the guitar in the video above, have the diamond symbol on the headstock in pearl. The ones you buy are just a white paint.
i cant wait till these are available in canada and i happen to be starting the search for a new les paul since i need a better guitar to suit the stuff im playing now
I may look into that one. Been wanting an LP body, not the biggest Epiphone fan, kinda would prefer the Eclipse ESP. This is pretty close to the Prophecy model except w/7 string. Pretty nice, if only this video was in color.
I applaud the fact that he made sure the guitar was affordable
HCkev I second that comment. He understands the struggle.
HCkev in Peru is expensive!
900 bucks is not affordable 🤣
Thank you Matt! Your love for the fans has always been clearly important, and this just reinforces your appreciation for us! Trivium fan for life!
The idea that affordability is "..Incredibly important to (him)" Is admirable. I am happy to see Epiphone is following through. i have the 7string version, and it plays like a beast
Witcher Kenway I’m about to get the white 7 string. Can’t wait!!🤘
I'm buying mine soon!!!
How does the string tension feel on the 7 string with lp scale lenght?
That last riff he's playing I'm pretty sure is an exercise from John Petrucci's Rock Discipline. Great video!
Madison Roney o
My girlfriend bought mine yesterday... Man, it's an amazing guitar... Unbelievable...
Gonçalo Ferreira awesome gonçalo
You know she's the one...
Not only because of that, but it's true. She is :)
7-Strings tuned 1/2 down is one of my favorite tunings on guitar. Sounds like Trivium will be using it. Hell yes!
I have to say that Matt's desire to make a signature guitar that is affordable to the every man is quite admirable. I've followed his work for the better part of a decade and he never fails to impress both as a musician and a human being, my hat's off to you!
“Working on the best trivium album ever” come on now hahaha
hi 5 years later and i still wish it comes in Left handed version :(
Never considered an Epiphone until now.
I'am actually a fan of 6 string guitars. You can get this guitar (the 6 string version) for only 580€ (new) in Germany. And its a custom with EMG's. I mean , thats really awesome!
Where can you get it for 580€?
Wo hast du die Gitarre für 580 Euro bekommen? Auf den Websites, auf denen ich nach Preisen geschaut habe, kostet sie mindestens 750 Euro.
@@TheAlmightySushi
Nowhere. Its 700-800 everywhere.
vengeance falls is soooo great

He's such a chill dude. Much respect to Matt.
i have so much respect for this man. the love he shows for the fans is unlike any that i've ever seen.

Lucky him, getting a Gibson Custom at 12.

Dont ever stop making this guitar plz way better than the prophecy

respect to him for using the same guitar that we can get without spending an arm and leg.
I don't care for Trivium.. I just purchased this guitar from Sweetwater after playing one at guitar center. Best tone ever! Matt is an excellent guitarist but that's about it. Fine guitar Sir!
Haven't tried the guitar, but from what his saying it sounds like one of the best sigs out there.
He actually does play it live. As most musicians he's switching guitars several times during a show. He plays his signature Epi, some of his Gibson LPC's and his Explorer's live
Good for Matt for making an affordable guitar and using it.
Nice ! Been waiting on this guitar being available for months, can't wait to try out the 7-sting version too!
Saw him playing one last summer when I saw Trivium live... sounded awesome.
He's so cool! The guitars look amazing. I can't wait to try them out.
Damn! Matt has and insane picking hand. Very fast, articulate, and acurate.
He is such a clever and technical speaker, as well as being a boss front man, guitarist and food tester haha!
4:20 just another reason why Matt Heafy is fucking awesome and the coolest frontman in modern metal
that 6 string is a monster. my guitar professor actually complains about it being too powerful sometimes. my first ever eletric guitar, fuckin love it
I got this guitar today.. and saving money to get another one of this.. in 6 string
The logic is flawless.
Love it man!! I really love that lick at the beginning!
this is awesome! can't wait for the new album
I hope some of that riffage is on the new record. God, that was great. Such a beautiful guitar, too.
Oh man, this new album is going to be ridiculously heavy. The way he slyly mentioned that there "may" be a new tuning, and the playing at the end definitely sounded lower than drop C# which In Waves was in. But hey, I think this is going to be be an excellent album, and excellent guitar.
Guys help! Should i buy 6 string version of this guitar or Jackson kexmg x series kelly?
"6th, and greatest Trivium album we've ever made."
Lol Matt looks like a Veteran Death metal guy now haha! He's Always been my favouite Guitar player, Lyricist and Vocalist. Thanks for the amazing guitar Epiphone, you guys always nail it! \m/
THANK YOU MATT AND EPIPHONE!!!
Building just the guitar im looking for: Les Paul body and 7 strings
Emperor logo on his chest \m/
the guitar will hit stores in April and will be $699 for the 6-string and $799 for the 7-string model. this info is from Epiphone's website.
Dad bring this look back
sick guitar
I don't really like Trivium... just not my cup of tea, but I really respect Matt as a guitar player and a person. Great to have a musician that wants his signature stuff to be affordable, great guy.
I was proud to have a imitation when I was young
i like the way that he thinks about guitars and the fan's.
that how it needs to be
I like the six strings model more. Also love the access heel neck.
this is BEAUTIFUL!!
i cant wait til i get mine in august!!
already have mine on preorder and prepaid, getting the 7 string on june 7, cant fucking wait!
i must buy this guitar, matt is my idol.
Remember when he decided Dean was better? That worked out terribly.
+lastserenadeUK what do you mean? I don't follow Trivium too much
How?
Good question. I'd go for both to be honest
they just went with what was in reach at the time. clearly dean guitars suck
thank you matt :)
He got a Les Paul Custom when he was 12?!? Well, he kind of deserves it :)
I'm really interested in this guitar. And the price is great! The only thing I will change are the EMG pickups for Gibson Dirty Fingers.
great instrument) waiting Trivium new album!))
Very humble man
I LOVE MATT HES SO AWESOME! SUPER NICE WELL SPOKEN SMART GUY TOO! i love to watch him perform espec at wacken
They are available to pre order. I have a deposit down on the 7.
Yaaa i'm so buying the 6 strings version when it is out !!
any idea about the price ?
I'm going to buy it.
if its affordable to everyone it better be 20 bucks because im broke as hell. And Matt seems like a really chill guy. Gotta love rock stars ricking an epi
He's got a deep Japanese sounding voice.
I could be wrong, but he & Corey were given a Dean by Rita to play. I NEED ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like Matt's going for the Black Metal look. Wouldn't be surprised if the new Trivium record sounds a lot more black metal.
ive always been a huge fan of LPs and LP shapes. idk its like I can really dig in with the bridge where it is and the way the archtop forms to my forearm. Guitar Center and Musicians friend have the preorder out online, but it wont be shipped until May. That's when it comes out.
The clipped wing headstock on epiphones is why I save my money for a Gibson.... Sounds stupid but the headstock just looks wrong too Me
you can easily get a luthier to fix up the headstock into a open book one.. know plenty of people who did it
Epiphone headstock is better than Gibson, not adding too much binding on the nut, less angle and stays in tune better
Owner of a Epi LP custom. I feel you bro, Epi's headstock just feels like is missing something :(
epiphone headstock looks way better
To each his own. Personally I think the Casino headstock looks better. Aesthetics aside, Epiphone is a historic brand. A trusted brand. And if it ever branches out of Gibson territory, it will remain the thorn on Gibson's side with the way quality control and pickup tone have improved thru the years. :) Gibson's biggest rival remains its biggest rival.
Matt understands that normal people can't afford the expensive guitars. Other guitarists with signature guitars should take advice from him
show them a video of Matt playing his guitar loud and heavy, that'll convert them!
I need this one!
The 6 string version costs around 150 euro more and the description shows that it has other adapters used. Doesn't it imply it is better?
such an awesome guy. i want one of these :P
PLEASE PLEASE let there be at least one seven string song on the new album
So classy that guy...
Since I got the Prophecy Custom EX Plus a few months ago this is the next one I get
Any news on the release of the matt heafy sig guitar, i live in the uk and id LOVE ONE
and thats your opinion... youre entitled to it... just dont bash someone for liking them because you dont
thumbs up to heafy and trivium for their modesty and all the good stuff they write. but, with all due respect, even if that guitar has "epiphone" written on it, it doesnt mean he will take a "not so reliable" guitar on stage in front of thousands of people while shooting a dvd. i definitly think that the guitars he will use are by far even better than the stock usa gibsons that most of us cant afford...

How does this compare to like a LTD EC-407?
Cheo Samad frets arent jumbo on the LTD
+Cheo Samad the LTD has also a 25.5 scale
Where did you order it?
7Strings les paul?! FUCK YEAH!!!
There is still a slight difference. When I same them live, and even the guitar in the video above, have the diamond symbol on the headstock in pearl. The ones you buy are just a white paint.
Zombie 8890 mine is an abalone pearl diamond, the only difference I've spotted is he has the Grover tuners and we had to buy ours seperately.
Shean Carey yeah mine has the abalone inlay too. Epiphone own tuners tho but i didnt think they were that bad so i havent bothered changing them out
i cant wait till these are available in canada and i happen to be starting the search for a new les paul since i need a better guitar to suit the stuff im playing now
What string is doubled on the 7 string edition??
EPIC!
I may look into that one. Been wanting an LP body, not the biggest Epiphone fan, kinda would prefer the Eclipse ESP. This is pretty close to the Prophecy model except w/7 string. Pretty nice, if only this video was in color.
