Pagan is one of Troy's best performances. Everyone can hold 3 up as the best but i feel 4 has its own merits from beginning to end thanks to the performances. It's wholly seperate narratively and solid throughout.
I think Pagan was just better then Vaas too. People say Vaas is the joker but we literally have the Jokers voice actor here and I cant help but here shades of it sometimes. Lol even references on the radio about his suit
I'm not gonna lie if we ever get a remaster for this (for some reason) I hope that at any point of the game if you go to an Outpost or army HQ and ask to see Pagan you can fight for pagan and beat the golden path. That was the biggest nudge for me for this entire game is that Pagan was the lesser of 2 evils, golden path destroys everything to get to pagan but pagan kinda helped kyrat economically, culturally and morally to a degree. But that's just me I love FC4 but damn I wish you can fight for Pagan
To be fair, Pagan is an awful-awful person who reinstituted gladiator fights, outlawed the local religion, and looted their cultural heritage. So he's still a terrible-terrible person and admits it. Its just that he's being upfront and honest about it with Ajay versus the Golden Path.
@@abyssdreamer6286 that sums it up perfectly for me. I liked Pagan because from the start he’s been nothing but honest and open with Ajay but the Golden Path takes advantage of Ajay and try to twist their story as if what they do and believe isn’t as bad when it’s in my opinion actually far worse.
Helping kyrat economically is a bit of an exaggeration, he only built opium fields, starving the locals. He also converted one of the country's few factories into an opium production facility.
@@chriskopp1361bit late 2 years but Amita said most resources were exhausted to the point of no return, so it was illegal trade the most easy and fast way to maintain Kyrat economy(remember that tourism is impossible due to Golden Path revolution *movement*)
I always felt like Far Cry 4 was the Far Cry game that never got the praise it deserved. While many people prefer Far Cry 3 over this one (and not without merit) I personally always preferred Far Cry 4 for its truly fantastic villain* and its illusion of choice but in a good way. Like, it doesn’t matter who you side with Anita or Sabal, because in the end Kyrat is left in ruins from the civil war and you simply traded one dictator for another.
It's more that you can see him as the better guy. They truly managed to make a "pick your poison" story. He's still a crazy dictator, and people still suffer under him, but they also suffer under the others, who become their own flavor of dictator. Even the third ending, of just joining Pagan at the start, just means Ajay becomes a dictator. Kyrat is screwed no matter what.
@@Tmanowns I think that Pagan being the good guy in this game doesn't mean that he's a good person. He's not, he's a morally evil and awful person. He might have understandable motives and a sympathetic backstory, but he's evil. He's only slightly better than Sabal and Amita, after all. But, I think what most people mean by Pagan being the GOOD GUY is that, in Pagan's ending, Ajay gets Kyrat. Not a Kyrat being ruled by essentially a cultish dictator, (Sabal), and not a Kyrat that uses child soliders for a drug trade, (Amita). It's a Kyrat that Ajay can change for the better, and truly make a better place.
I always wanted to join Pagan, I really hated the Golden Path aside from Bhadra, I mean she's just a kid who wants to make a difference to Kyrat but is pushed by for either Amita and Sabal's purposes. I'd love that if Ajay had joined Pagan, they and the King's Forces go into Kyrat to battle the Golden Path and save Bhadra and then when the Golden Path is wiped out, Pagan passes on the rule to Ajay and Bhadra is an advisor to the new King.
Pagan Min strikes me as that one friend everyone needs, who's a little "off" and would be scary if he weren't unquestionably always a stand-up dude to you. The sort of guy you call, freaking the f' out at 2am, who three seconds into you spouting frightened gibberish just says "Shut up, breathe. Alright, good, good. Now tell me where you are, and I'll be there in 15 minutes with shovels, plastic wrap, and some hacksaws.."

With 6 we saw it with the Supremos and crazy companions like Chicharrón (I love him). And I agree, it's more fun when we set true realism to the side and go a bit crazy with the mechanics.
8:28 One can also interpret Pagan's lines as the players getting the curiosity of the secret ending out of the their system, and moving on to play the rest of the actual game

Fun Fact: If you go back to the mines later on, all the bodies are still there apart from Yuma's, leading me to believe she's still alive. Personally, I'd love to see her come back.
here's a fun fact, you can get 3 wingsuits in this game, yes, 3 wingsuits. One after returning from the mountains for the first time, one you can buy from the store, and the one Willis gives to you. And having more then 1 does absolutely nothing, but it's cool to have 3 of them.
Have you tried FC Primal? I know it was controversial but that one was my favorite. The thing that really drew me in about it was the language they created for it. They had separate dialects for the three tribes, and about halfway through I could kind of understand the ambient NPC dialogue. Oh, one of my guys is saying the word for "predator", I should go help him. Hey, that's the southerner's word for my tribe, we've been spotted! That sort of thing. I love learning languages and the best way to do it is through immersion, soaking in what people say and how they say it rather than memorizing from a book. And while I couldn't hold a conversation in Wenja it was fun to learn the 4000 BC equivalents of tourist guidebook phrases.
You can still kill pagan after he takes the helicopter, that's how I finished the game so long ago. I still have that scene saved on my Xbox where he goes "but I'm keeping the helicopter" then I walk up on the ledge with a grenade launcher and "the king is dead"
Wait this game was so long? I thought that it was just a nice waiting simulator in which you had to wait for the dangerous dictator to come back and then you just got to hear your mom story and go home.
I really wish there was a DLC where you embrace Pagan as your surrogate father figure and work to hunt down the Golden Path. I so desperately want a game where we fully take the side of the "antagonist" and take down the opposition.
I REALLY liked Pagan actually. And depending on what options you choose (going to Lakshmana) He actually perfectly tells you why and how he became the way he now is. He's not insane for the sake of being insane.
This was the last game which still felt like Far Cry to me. The physics were better too, fire effects were still based on Far Cry 2's and the foliage reacted _way_ better to everything. The Shangri-La sections were amazingly good and the characters were at least memorable, with a couple of stand-outs like Longinus and Pagan. Noore is also fairly interesting. To cap it all off, valley of the Yetis was pretty great. If they only carried over more features from Far Cry 2. Namely the mapping system and A.I, this could've been the peak of the series.
13:59-14:07 still makes me laugh every time 😂 Far Cry 4 took a lot of unfair shade in the shadow of FC3, but I loved 4. I still think Pagan Min and The Jackal are the two most underrated characters in the series.

I love that. Wait for Pagan and he thinks you stay because of the crab and praises the chef. Leave and Pagan executes the chef, thinking you were offended by the crab
My favorite part of the ending, is that after the credits, you can find whoever you sided with committing atrocities. Sabal on the Temple Island, executing those who sided with Amita, and forcing Bhadra to watch and be a symbol as they're sacrificed to her. While Amita's post credit scene is her having the soldiers abduct children from a village to be made into child soldiers, and threatens to have their parents shot just for begging not to take away their kids. She says she "sent away" Bhadra, but it's entirely possible she killed the poor girl. Amita couldn't keep a symbol around, lest that symbol turn on her. They are both absolutely wicked people, and the game is _the_ most accurate portrayal of a nation torn apart by civil war I've ever seen. It's not just "rebels vs dictator." It's a coalition of factions that align, but turn on each other to clean house once their shared enemy is gone, and those who replace the last power are often just as bad, or worse. I would have loved a New Game + mode that lets you choose to side with Pagan Min's Royal Army, and fight against the Golden Path in the opposite order, starting from the north and working your way south. Additionally, Ajay (pronounced Ah-jay, by the way, come on man, lol) is a great protagonist. He had tons of personality, and wasn't just a trust fund baby. Plenty of comedy of his own, like the "Still alive, dickbags!" moment.
I think it was...three weeks ago, when I bought FC4 and started playing it(even though I nearly knew how the story begins and ends). 'Finished' it(Once I got to the ending) after two weeks. It's fine overall, with Pagan being the absolutely best part of it. But I didn't really like having to choose between Sabal the religious zealot and Amita. But nevertheless, I went with Amita. Why? Well, I played Ajay as if he grown to care for Bhadra, and figured he prefer her being free instead of being forced to be Tatum Matara.
Only problem is, Amita kills Bhadra... If you beat the game, you can find Amita commiting horrendous atrocities, and hints at killing her. If you side with Sabal, she's forced to watch Amita loyalists being executed in her "honor" I always pick Sabal, kill Amita, then go back and murder Sabal and his loyalists, saving Bhadra.
In the second to last Shangri-La Mission you actually get an elephant, so I would say the tiger is Sabal as you first met him and the elephant Amita because the elephant is needed to breach through gates, aka Amita breaking tradition (like Sabal said)
I wound up siding with Sabal because despite me _ideologically_ siding with Amita more often than not (excluding the postgame obviously), everything that Sabal asked me to do was something that I could justify being a part of. You don't need "faith" to justify not turning Kyrat into a drug state. For starters, it's just morally irresponsible to all of the people that those drugs might effect... assuming that we actually are selling it in the form of heroin and not converting the farms to can sell morphine to hospitals instead (I don't get why Amita hasn't considered this). And if the fields are good enough to grow poppies, they're good enough to grow actual food, so that argument from Amita doesn't really hold weight to me. Furthermore, it doesn't just harm drug addicts, it also harms Kyrat itself. Not because of some religious "protect the land" bullshit that Sabal is talking about, no it harms Kyrat because all of that opium has been getting into the groundwater and driving the animals insane. The constant production of opium has made Kyrat a more dangerous place to live, and it's only a matter of time before it starts effecting the people as well as the animals.
I like how Willis says he had to "babysit" Jason meanwhile in reality Willis loves to be a jackass and die easily on the mission where you protect him from the plane before you go the 2nd Island. Yea real good job baby sitting there willis
You should definitely do assassins creed origins. I think that’s a perfect game for a cinemawins. Bayek has become one of my most fav video game characters
I still remember on how upset i am over the choices i the two golden path dictator i had to follow. And how i unload the anger on pagan. He went,"i'm keeping the helicopter." And as it fly away i strafe left, sniped the pilot and say,"sure, i'm taking the pilot tho."
its probably a little unintentional but have u noticed how theres very little difference between the logos for the royal army of Pagan and the Golden Path?
Pagan Min ist one of the greatest characters in the Far Cry series, and for me not really a villain or a bad guy. He does some nasty shit, yeah but Sabal and Amita are doing worse.
Well, here's some fun news though, if it's true, FC6 will have DLC that lets you play as old FarCry villains, and Pagan might be one of them. Who knows? Maybe Ajay'll join him on a fun murder-spree vacation from Kyrat?
Because until it actually comes out, it's all up in the air. Cancelled DLC isn't unheard of. Especially with Ubisoft on the mix. Wanna know why? Buy and Download Driver: San Francisco on any online retailer. Oh, wait, you can't, because Ubisoft pulled the plug on it.
Honestly I think FC4 has one of the best stories in the series. There is no good or bad. Everyone in this game is kind of a monster in their own way. Pagan is the most obvious. But Sabal and Amita are honestly way worse. Sure Amita helps people by giving them food and making the country profitable but by using drugs and ripping a child away from her home just because of out dated religious beliefs. And Sabal is the complete opposite wanting his county to remain poor and worship disgusting religious beliefs that leeds to a child being forced into marriage. This game made me feel like no matter who I sided with ,Pagan by going for the quick ending or Sabal or Amita, that I was making a massive mistake and I'm sure that was intended. I mean I always ended up killing all three of them anyways just to make myself feel better. And yes you can do that there's a small window at the end of either option to kill whoever you originally sided with. Doesn't really matter but it helps me feel better.
Never really was sure why I didn't enjoy this one as much as 3. I like to think it's that I enjoyed the island environments more. It's mostly odd since Ajay seems like a more interesting protagonist on paper. Anyways gotta continue my tradition of asking for Outer Wilds every video. It's an incredible experience and one I'd love to see you breakdown.
My fav Far Cry game, and was actually the first one I played when I bought my first Xbox 360. I no longer have that console nor the physical copy of the game but I bought it recently again for my Series S. I also played 3, didn't like it as much, played 5, didn't like it at all, and I am currently playing 6, seems nice so far. But 4 holds that special place for me. (Haven't played 1 nor 2).
My very first game that introduced me to far cry. I remember being addicted to This game for WEEKs and couldn’t put it down. Probably my 3rd favorite far cry right now :)
Best secret/true ending in a Far Cry game, enjoy dinner and take your place as ruler You do know though, that Amita turns children into soldiers right? Rather "break" as you call it than bend in this case
I love this game so much but after a couple times through I realized there was no winning and just wanted to chill with Longinus, Rabi Ray, and Badra. I also would have loved an option to join the Royal Army or if you let Sabal or Amita escape half the outposts turned as they rerebeled.
To me Far Cry 4 is the best of the bunch. At the time people complained that it was just 3 again, but all they've done with Far Cry since 3 was try to recapture 3. I think 4 is the only one that really captured 3's magic and actually expanded on it. The combat was just 3's but better. The story progression is better paced, and doesn't do a weird second less compelling villain after the first dies. Like how you could make 2 choices at the ending of 3? Well in 4 there's a secret ending, 3 different true endings, and 2 different leaders you've been able to choose throughout the entire story. It also still looks really good for being a PS4/XB1 launch title, I been playing 6 on PC with everything maxed out and I swear (besides the environments, those are beautiful) 4 & 5 defiantly have more realistic looking facial animations and animals.
5 was kinda eh, interesting story idea but it changed a little too much, and the way the story was paced was god awful. Then 6 is actually pretty good, it really does feel like Far Cry 3 part 2. The combat changes are whack AF, leaving alot of weapons feeling useless, kind of forcing you to use certain weapons you may not enjoy or find fun just because if you don't you'll be useless to certain enemies. It's still fun though, I think it's definitely a step in the right direction for the series from 5 and it's story expansion.

Haven't beat 6 but when the rebel leader said that even when Castillo dies there will be chaos made me think of this game
“I wonder how much Kanye is going for”
That hits different after recent events
I literally just bought far cry 4. Great timing!
Watching the start of this made me think the rest of the game was a fever dream and I was so confused
I really wish we could pick between Pagan and the Golden Path cause I would definitely pick Pagan he’s great
You ever think about a multi-part episodes about the Witcher 3?
If you choose correctly Pagan explains why the way he is. Leaves, and leaves everything for AJ.
Ah yes, Far Cry 4. Commonly known to me and the boys as Grand Theft Elephant
IMO, Pagan fits the title of antagonist more than villian. Though that’s mainly comparing him to Vaas.
I think troy baker himself says that Pagan is more of an antagonist than a villain
Its a theory that longinus is a character from far cry 2
I literally started replaying this game like two days ago
I think it was...three weeks ago, when I bought FC4 and started playing it(even though I nearly knew how the story begins and ends). 'Finished' it(Once I got to the ending) after two weeks. It's fine overall, with Pagan being the absolutely best part of it. But I didn't really like having to choose between Sabal the religious zealot and Amita. But nevertheless, I went with Amita. Why? Well, I played Ajay as if he grown to care for Bhadra, and figured he prefer her being free instead of being forced to be Tatum Matara.
Surprisingly I grew to care about Bhadra so I was always against sabal
Only problem is, Amita kills Bhadra... If you beat the game, you can find Amita commiting horrendous atrocities, and hints at killing her.
If you side with Sabal, she's forced to watch Amita loyalists being executed in her "honor"
I always pick Sabal, kill Amita, then go back and murder Sabal and his loyalists, saving Bhadra.
16:00 Yes. Even little Alice didn't figure it out the first time around.
Personally i think the tiger and elephant at the loading should be a point. They are so FIRE😂
I like how Willis says he had to "babysit" Jason meanwhile in reality Willis loves to be a jackass and die easily on the mission where you protect him from the plane before you go the 2nd Island. Yea real good job baby sitting there willis
14:27 - My heart nearly stopped at this. Sounds like.... well, yeno.
FUCK YES LETS GOOOOOOOO!! this is my favorite far cry game by far and i am so glad you're finally covering it :3
Favorite Far Cry game and Far Cry villain bar none!
For some reason, I relate to Pagan a lot for his flamboyancy, suit, and his love of Kanye West.
It’s funny that you mention modernity since it’s one of the themes of the game.
I loved Yogi and Reggie personally. They are just a couple of really fun stoner buds and their missions are a hoot!!
You should definitely do assassins creed origins. I think that’s a perfect game for a cinemawins. Bayek has become one of my most fav video game characters
I still remember on how upset i am over the choices i the two golden path dictator i had to follow. And how i unload the anger on pagan.
He went,"i'm keeping the helicopter."
And as it fly away i strafe left, sniped the pilot and say,"sure, i'm taking the pilot tho."
Brooo I was not expecting that “oh baby a triple” hahahaha excellent timing
As i was reading this hhaahahahsha
Come on the little scenes Castillo was in he was gold
Thank you for pointing out that Far Cry has better stealth mechanics than Assassin Creed (especially the new ones).
Troy baker's soo good. they have him in everything. even pong has troy baker voice acting in it.
its probably a little unintentional but have u noticed how theres very little difference between the logos for the royal army of Pagan and the Golden Path?
Pagan Min ist one of the greatest characters in the Far Cry series, and for me not really a villain or a bad guy.
He does some nasty shit, yeah but Sabal and Amita are doing worse.
Well, here's some fun news though, if it's true, FC6 will have DLC that lets you play as old FarCry villains, and Pagan might be one of them.
Who knows? Maybe Ajay'll join him on a fun murder-spree vacation from Kyrat?
Why are you talking like confirmed DLC is some leaked rumour someone's uncle who works at Ubisoft told you
Because until it actually comes out, it's all up in the air. Cancelled DLC isn't unheard of. Especially with Ubisoft on the mix. Wanna know why? Buy and Download Driver: San Francisco on any online retailer. Oh, wait, you can't, because Ubisoft pulled the plug on it.
Love that Pagan sometimes really sounds like Joel from tlou
Pagan Min may have been a bad king, But he is one hell of a good stepdad.
4 will always be the best of the series imo
Glad your talking about this game one of my favorite far cry games of all time
God I love the Pause he does before saying Fabolous lol Pagan is the best villain in the series
Willis not only drinks vodka
But also in his first mission he uses a AK 47
Never really was sure why I didn't enjoy this one as much as 3. I like to think it's that I enjoyed the island environments more. It's mostly odd since Ajay seems like a more interesting protagonist on paper. Anyways gotta continue my tradition of asking for Outer Wilds every video. It's an incredible experience and one I'd love to see you breakdown.
wooo yea been waiting for this man keep up the good work
"Better to bend than break" damn bro 👏
ive played shadow of war/mordor to much so i dont hear troy baker i hear talion
Fin is end in french
Thanks for covering my favorite farcry game ever!
This game is my most play3d game to date i have almost 100k hours on it and i still play on it every once in a while
100k hours is equivalent to 11 years. Far Cry 4 came out 10 years ago, or around 8 when you posted your comment.
Stop bullshitting.
My very first game that introduced me to far cry. I remember being addicted to This game for WEEKs and couldn’t put it down. Probably my 3rd favorite far cry right now :)
GamingWins PLEASE do UNCHARTED series especially Uncharted 4
Longinus being a callback to FC2 is just so freaking sweet.
Edit: That "uh-uh" was exactly what I said.
Another great video. Keep it coming.
Best secret/true ending in a Far Cry game, enjoy dinner and take your place as ruler
You do know though, that Amita turns children into soldiers right? Rather "break" as you call it than bend in this case
Gaming wins you should make everything great about Mafia definitive edition
these recaps are incredible, please cover New Dawn, Primal, and Blood Dragon (in that order of importance afaic).
Almost 100k let’s get it
Longinus is my 2nd favorite far cry character, right behind pagan
I love this game so much but after a couple times through I realized there was no winning and just wanted to chill with Longinus, Rabi Ray, and Badra. I also would have loved an option to join the Royal Army or if you let Sabal or Amita escape half the outposts turned as they rerebeled.
Willis and Hurk are a couple of the best side characters ever
This one was my first far cry game
So it is my favorite
