Those red hands actually work a lot better than I thought they would. Might have to swap mine out if I ever feel brave enough to take him out of dino mode again :).
For the shoulder pieces, Planet X just posted on Facebook it's because the first batch come in a plastic shell that could get the shoulders damaged if the box in manhandled or dropped in transit. Newest batches of Cacus will come in foam shells tested to prevent this.
I have this, and there are two things nearly every review misses in dino mode. The hexagonal pieces on the cheeks should be rotated back 90 degrees to fill out the face a bit more, and the three front toes on the dino feet do have some 'ankle' pivot, for a bit more stability in some poses.
At one point I did flatten the toes and briefly mention that they move, but I can agree that I could have been more explicit about that point. I was unaware of the cheek panels, so I will try that when I get home. Thank you for the tip!
I LOVE this figure! I found a few things that make the transformation super easy. First and foremost are the leg/tail. Going in to dino, do the first leg completely. Then for the second, use the thigh swivel. Leave the lower leg/tail panel extended but rotate the thigh 45°. Get the inner panel (the one that's super hard any other way) in place and then rotate the thigh into place. Second, for the butt flap/back fillers, I put those at 90° and then fold flat into place. Sorry this is a bit late, but this makes a world of difference in the transformation!
not usually a fan of modified versions of characters, but this is an impressive exception.. Im content w/ my Masterpiece Grimlock, but congrats whoever bought this figure, looks great.. always amazing review & transformation demo, @peaugh
I LOVE how this looks, and would love to buy it, but there are so many other things dropping about now - Tesla 2.0, MP Skywarp 2.0, maybe FT Skullcruncher, and others I can't remember off-hand.
Gotta be Cacus (the "dirtiest" way you pronounced it), it's Latin and Cacus was a son of Vulcan. I believe every Planet X toy is named after a Roman god or relative to it.
I don't know about you guys, but mine came in robot mode. Showing the transformation starting from dino seems kind of, I don't know... Cart before the horse?
Looks like they got some inspiration from the recent Transformers movies, it's reminiscent of the knightly look they gave the dinobots. At least in the figures... Much more complex and nice looking though
It's funny his head resembles more like an Optimus or Nemesis Prime head. I'm still undecided about getting this because of the very prominent "beast feet" under the forearms. Although it's not as bad as Planet X's Ismenios.
I got the figure and put the hands in according to the included instructions and they just will not come out let alone being able transform the legs easy and my copy was missing a screw in the legs entirely maligning I can just pull the whole lower leg off of his leg
I really dig this version of Grimlock :D The things i like with it is: The T-rex head in dino-mode look like a chibi version of a normal T-rex head :D it's cute :D and the robot head look like a Space Marine (then the antennas were folded down) And then the robot-mode is just awesome.. it looks like a medival knight, especially at the feet and torso.. and does leg bits (the one the fell off) look like armor too, would like if they were grey and not black. A question that I have is the packback.. how well does is stay in place when plugged in all the way?. (it came loose a few time in the review)
Interesting: "In Roman mythology, Cacus was a fire-breathing giant and the son of Vulcan." Very appropiate name. I really like this figure.
Funny because there foc grimlock was named vulcan

Grimlock over here looking like a Space Marine
Great to see more toys based on Nick Roche designs. Would love to see a toy based on his first design of Hot Rod, from that first spotlight issue
That's an interesting take on Grimlock. I like stuff like this. Nice review.

Both modes look great, but jeez that transformation is giving me anxiety and Vulcan PTSD! Agree, the red hands look better.

Can't wait for the Nick Roche Dinobots.
I waited until PX-14 Apollo went on sale, so I'm gonna wait for this to go on sale too.

Does anyone know where to order the replacement parts?
this could get repainted as Optimus Primal from Rescue Bots or Batman as a T rex mech.
Looks great. Too bad you can't pop off the the dino head to use as a Megatron fusion canon style
I wonder if this Grimlock has ever worked upper management. Looks like he has a steel butt plate to cover his own keester.
I would like to know if they are going to published the other dinobots in this style ? I just got hun he's epic looking
They are doing Sludge next.
@@decathect3203 where did check the announcement for sludge?
Pronounced “COCK-iss.” Cacus was a fire-breathing giant from Roman mythology. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cacus
Thank you very much!
anyone else getting a batman feeling when looking at the robot mode
"Me am Batgrim! Haw haw!"

Fairly solidly, but it’s not super difficult to knock loose while posing.
@@peaugh Okey :D so it get's the OK from you? :)
Definitely one of those figures that looks gorgeous but is absolutely NO fun to mess around with.
That’s fair.
Careful with the arm/shoulder joint..it can shear off if not careful
Emotional damage
I fucking hate transforming this thing. It looks great, but it's not fun at all to do.
I just leave all my Transformers in robot mode
That thing looks a mess
MANY have broken theirs, reviewers included so beware.
I am aware, and have been being careful with it.
