Always good to see you, whenever you have the time to record something! You're doing extremely well with your no buy year. Advents are seasonal products and don't count one bit, neither does inherited yarn.
Sian lovely to see you again 😊 The shawl you wearing is so beautiful 🤩 You have been so good with the yarn purchases 👏 Shopping with in once stash is so rewarding I find.
Hello Sian, lovely to see a fellow Melbourne knitter on you tube. I discovered your Bendigo Show video and instantly subscribed. It’s wonderful that you’ve taken this time for yourself and family. Look forward to your next video when you feel ready.
Lovely to see you here again Sian! I'm glad you are being kind to yourself and not being too strict or harsh on yourself with your "really really want" items. It sounds like you are fully aware of what is emotionally helping you and what is not! Looking forward to your next video, when you get time. Good luck with the house decisions / offers!!
It’s so nice to see you 😊 I’m glad you are able to be kind to yourself and allow the odd treat. I think you are doing very well with the no buy , see you again when you are ready ❤
Hope you are doing ok! I think we sometimes have a tendency to look at achieving or failing a goal as something very black and white. In 2021 I did a year long no buy of any non-essential items, and on the 29th of december I bought a rolling pin, some loose leaf tea and a lipstick. I was really disappointed at getting so close to my goal and "failing" and a friend said to me "but hang on, how much do you think you would have bought if you weren't on a no-buy?" and it really helped me. Even though you've purchased a bit of yarn, you have probably purchased far less than you otherwise would have. I like the idea of advents in terms of opening a fun surprise every day, but I also kind of find some aspects of it a bit problematic in the way they are marketed as very limited quantities, purchase now and receive it in 7-8 months etc. I think at the time you don't feel like you've bought anything because there's no yarn physically coming into your stash, and when you get the yarn you also weirdly don't feel like it's a purchase because it's been such a long time since you paid, and you might not even remember the price. Not a criticism of people who purchase them (I have also bought 2 advents) but I think it's a tricky one for people like me who have a bit of a yarn shopping problem.
Oh wow, I’m super impressed! It is easy to get hyper focussed about it when you’re in the midst of it all, so yes the occasional considered purchase or splurge is a good thing.
So glad to see you again! I missed seeing your face. Definitely relate to you with everything difficult coming at once. I like that you haven't been too stringent (idk if that's the word), but so harsh with the no buy. Sh*t happens, and sometimes it's useful to utilise shopping/crafting to help, and also not when it won't. Good luck with the house hunting! It's a mess in Melbourne at the moment.
Thanks so much! So true, hun. Glad it resonates with you too, although I hope all is ok on your end. Oh yeah, Melbourne housing is so inaccessible and after 20+ years of being a renter/house sharer I’m so over it. Not sure I’m ready for a mortgage, but would love to be able to have some security.
@@theobsessivemaker yeah security is so necessary. We rented a house for 10+ years, and now we've moved, we are having to move every year! Such a struggle
Advents definitely don't count! 😉Looking forward to your next podcast and will keep my fingers crossed your house buying plans run smoothly!
😂 thanks for the advent reassurance 😂 And thanks for the 🍀 💕
