I harbor no resentment to the blue, yet Toronto tanked on purpose sending Marner down to the OHL to try and reach the #1 pick for 2016 that resulted in gaining Matthews.

They should have traded him last year with 2 years left on the contract. Some teams would have probably stepped up to offer their trade ideas. Now with 1 year left what team wants to trade away a load of assets for a what basically is a rental?
Marner only turned 27 yesterday, but really this is turning into a mess where he could just play out next season and go UFA.
Toronto brought this on themselves by shoveling out too much salary too soon.
