    Great video! What would you say are the most common causes of hotvtub leaks? I have a 2019 Hot Spring Highlife series l full foamed hot tub with the salt system.. Is there anything i can do to help prevent leaks? I keep my PH, salt, and chlorine levels wirhin proper range. I shock with dichlor sparingly. I calcium hardness is 65ppm out of the tap

      It will almost alway get down to maintenance and chemicals..Change the water every 60 to 90 days 100 days max (Salt systems are different read owners manual )Do not leave spa empty with no water in it .Replace gaskets/seals every 3to4 years on pumps and heaters. Replace ozone check valve every year(One out of a 1000 ever change it ) Having the spa moved from one house to another by someone that doesn't know what they are doing.I personaly am not a big fan of using a lot of shock I think its very harsh on the equipment.(I think Im the only one that feel this way ..But most if not all of the people I talk to about it have never worked on any hot tub at all EVER and don't see what I see everyday)
      Most if not all of the problems I see are caused by the home owner , the person installing the Spa , the spa mover. and each one does not realize what they just don't KNOW..You have given me some new ideas for a couple Videos for the future. Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

      @@spaman5440 Will look out for the videos. Hot Springs told me the same thing about shock. They said its harsh on the system and to hit the boost button on the salt system instead and to only shock when free chlorine is low in comparison to total chlorine. Its probably better to change the water instesd of blasting the spa with shock when the TDS gets high. Thanks.

    Cool video! Very helpful since I'm about to tackle fixing a leak.
    What type/brand of fittings are you using that the PVC solvent works with? I only find them listed as "plastic" which isn't specific enough to trust that the PVC solvent will work. Also for the Clear PVC Tubing is there a PSI rating concern?

    • @spaman5440
      @spaman5440  4 года назад +1

      Most if not all of the Fittings that I use come from Home Depot or the like...They are PVC just like you use for any sprinkler system. As far as the clear goes ? I have never had a problem with them coming off (always use Primer and PVC Cement and hold in Place for a few seconds)Sometimes I will use a hose clamp If its a large fitting.
      I had a job one time that I redid over 50 jets both water and air..0ver 100 places and to this day it has never leaked (A heat Gun is your Friend)
      Good luck with your project..Take your time put cardboard down so you don't make a mess and let me know how it goes...
      Thanks for watching and Subscribing.

      Don't skip out on clamps, especially if it's under the tub.

    I understand that your in AZ, where in AZ are you located? I am in Tucson and purchased a Hot Tub 18 months age and now it is leaking. Called the place where we bought it (New one) and they sent a guy out for about 15 to 20 minutes said he thought it was leaking at a fitting that was tight when I checked it and charged us 120 bucks, well it is still leaking. I think it is by a jet, that's where the water is starting to get wet. after filling it up again. Don't really want to destroy this thing, any help would be great or if your in Tucson, you up for a service call?

    No Clamps needed?

    • @diymrscott4983

      It depends on the size of the tubing or hose and on a case by case basis.... Ive never had one come off doing it the way I did in this video... A clamp is cheap Insurance and I maybe should of put one on. :)

    How to repair salt hoses in hot tub

  • @johnhogan3810
    @johnhogan3810 3 года назад +1

    I have repaired 2 hot tubs and they were both full of rodent/mouse poo and nests (hope I never run into a rat). I now cover the bottom and sides with 1/4" x 1/4" hardware cloth. $50-75 at home depot. Then put the sides back on and no one would ever know. I have never had another mouse problem.
