Did you write it? If you’re writing this music you can apply it wherever obviously. But if you didn’t, most (lots of emphasis on “most” there) pop music doesn’t really use authentic or half cadences as an organizing principle, so in the majority of cases it wouldn’t make sense to apply this concept to it.
