Great video. I always love to hear you talk, nothing phases you. you take everything in stride. You inspire me to maintain my own trains. thank you so much.
I know this video is old, but SO HELPFUL. I'm trying to re-create a specific rail line in my home town, so I picked up one of these exact models and need to repair it.
@@watchtrainsnow1099 The wheel timing was WAY off, you showed me how to fix it. Now to see if I can put DCC in it. Will be hard with how the connector pin to the tender IS the motor brush. On the light side, it had the FULL decal set in the box still.
Thanks for another great video. I remember when these rivarossi engines were considered the best you could get. I always wanted the BigBoy by them back in the day. When I have an old one that makes noise like that it always bugs me. I would have to take it apart again and find out what was causing it.
Yeah, sometimes you can get lucky buying used stuff on ebay. I just bought a Riv 4-6-2 seller said not working? I connected leads to it, n it ran! Gotta hook my test loop back up n let it take a few laps! 😊
I love the Rivarossi's. I was born and raised in The Harbor Belt and love N Scale! Your videos are a great service! Not only do they help me through repairs and restorations, you provide me with like company. You mention sending them out for new motors. Are they smoother than a good stock motor and also where do you send them?

i love your video very much. I bought an Atlas GN 3385 at trade show last February, the seller told me that it is in running condition. I tried it later on and found out it doesn't run at all. Would you take a look and how much you charge for repair it? Thanks
Arrrrrgh! I am angry at myself. I followed your excellent video on this, but apparently didn't realize you have to keep it upside down after removing the shell, or all the running gear will fall out of place. Now I don't have a clue about how to get all those tiny rods lined up correctly. Is it possible for you to do a video about lining up all those little pieces? This model may not be worth fixing. 🙂
No, it’s fun to fix. I’m sure somewhere I showed how to time everything. I have Done it I’m sure. Look at the 4-6-2 video it’s the same way. Just the 2-8-2 has an additional wheel set.
@@watchtrainsnow1099Yes, and thank you so much. You have shown how to time the wheels, and I know I can do that. My problem is the very very tiny piston that slides into the cylinder box has come out of the box and out of the little metal rails that align it, and I do not know how to position those delicate parts so the pistons will get back into those microscopic slots in the cylinder boxes! Yikes! What a nightmare when you don't know the proper technique. It's all way too small for me, even though I do NOT have fat fingers. Maybe a magnetic screwdriver or two could help. The rest of the running gear will not be a problem because it pretty much slides into place, but man, the little pistons and cylinders have the best of me, for now. 🙂
It's always nice to bring an old loco back to life.
Great video again
Yeah it’s so much fun. I’ve been running it. It’s a good runner!
I just got a 1000 subs. It`s the best Christmas present!

Be le I’ve it or not, working on my trains relaxes me.

Glad it was helpful!

I do that until I’m happy.
As always, your videos are very enjoyable. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
I had fun making the video.

Late to the video but as always a great one. Thanks for sharing. Dave
That engine got me to 1000 subs it’s a keeper for sure!
That Engine Runs great looks Lime a Good Engine.
It runs great, lots of fun!
Hello, next time when you fix another train, can you show your testing meter and how you set it up to test the engine? thanks
Basically I have a tech II power pack, and if the engineruns or motor turns, I know it’s good.

You would have to pay for shipping both ways, and for all the parts necessary. If you are interested i can take a look at it.

Do you do any repairs for other people?
Thank you
It depends if I think it will make a good video, and if I’m confident I can repair it well.
