WOW ! I REALLY LIKE THIS . I AM A BEGINNER IN WATER COLOURS AND ITS GOOD FOR EVERYONE LIKE ME WATCHIN THIS AND LEARNING THIS , THANK YOU SO MUCH . WE ALL APPRECIATE YOUR DRAWINGS
Yes Terri, next time I will show the entire painting process sped up. In this I had to film a little, stop and paint, film, etc. because of the camera used.
If there are any students who need to write notes from this: 1.a kneaded eraser to pick up graphite on the surface of the paper. 2. Use a wash of light color and do the outline of an apple. 3. Paint with red and green around the image to let the surface dry as much as possible. 4. Use dark colors for shadowing. 5. Wet the spot and blot with a paper towel to make white specks on the apple.
Hi Karen!Always your fan!I love how you paint and I would like to buy every CDs you're going to produce with your projects. Some fruits or vegetables would be really wonderful!
Hi Karen! First of, may I just say that your painting skills are awesome! I would love if you could make one more video of you painting an apple, but this time with the whole process (sped up maybe) I tried to get the look that you have (of your apple) and couldn't get the shading quite right. Thanks a lot!!! - Ivy
What a beautiful painting Karen! I really enjoyed watching it. You'd probably love 'painting' on an iPad too. It's what I use to draw with the procreate app. It's amazing how you can add color and layer textures. You might want to check it out.
Why do you skip out huge chunks? Please please can you do one where you don't leap from putting the brush on the paper to fully painted piece? Can we please see more of the steps please?
Your comment is 7 years ago, but I’m having the same problem. The pores on the apple skin suddenly jump out without even a footnote on how to achieve the effect. I believe it might be careful dotting with a white colored pencil, but I’d still like to make sure that’s what the artist is doing here. Other than that, her video is informative on the specific topic I was searching for.
good day maam! i admire your artworks a lot..so realistic and astonishing. i am a fan here! 😊 i am just starting to learn how to paint and i would like to ask what brand and sizes of brush do you use? the details of your painting are very intricate. 😊 thanks a lot!
Your painting and skills are great. It would be very helpful if you could post the entire painting process and the image of object you are painting. Thank you.
Thank you for all these nice comments! It is painted on a very smooth hot pressed paper. It's a Strathmore bristol plate finish which is not really meant for watercolor but it is not getting too wet.
Wow wow wow! I would love to see a longer video that shows the entire project. I'm not sure how you got from the rougher broader strokes to the very smooth finished look. Did you use more water at some point, or just continue with many small strokes with the small brush?
Thank you! I usually start with wetter washes and then go to a drier brush for details. I have full length videos available for sale on my website botanicalpaintings.com :)
Hi! I found out about you from a watercolor book that you and three other artists wrote and I love your art! I love to draw realistic things, but I’ve never been really good at paint. At all. Do u have any tips for painters on how to paint realistically?
Very well done. I only wish I could have seen a less edited one. Your colors jump from on hue to another & as a beginner I'm not sure exactly how you are laying in the color. Are you using a more dry brush as you add layers? Beautiful work! Thank you.
Thanks Liam! I only put quick clips on RUclips but sell longer tutorial videos on my website. They give lots of info! See botanical-paintings.com if you are interested:)
I've just watched four different watercolor renderings of apples. This, by far, is the most realistic. Thanks for sharing your technique.
Glad you liked it!

The white specks are done by wetting the spot and blotting with a paper towel.
+Karen Kluglein Thanks! I was just going to ask how to do this! Awesome apple! It looks so real!
You changed the way I paint watercolor in this video.. Thank you.
I now love arches hot press.

How did you get the little yellow specs to show through? This is amazing 😍
They are lifted out with the tip of a tiny wet brush and blotted with paper towel:)
Great! What kind of paper are you using?
Very nice. Just one opinion. I think the bottom of the yellow should be red. Of course, it's entirely up to you. Just what I think.
Ingvi,
Any lighter speckles are lifted out of the paint. There is no white paint used, just the white of the paper.
how to prevent the water from spreading ? or are u waiting for the paint to dry first?
azizul azri Yes, the paint is dry and then with the tip of a wet brush you touch a tiny area and blot with a paper towel.
Nice ..
.i can do this thanks for tip
So beautful
Very nice :-)
The apple is beautiful but the biggest problem is that I could not follow you
👌👏🏻
Please tell us what colors you used and the brand of the paint. Thank you.
Veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy nice

I have full length videos available for purchase on drawing and painting that are slower and explain everything . See botanical-paintings.com
Bravo :)
This is great! How did you add the white spots on the apple?
The spots are done by wetting the tiny area with water and blotting with a paper towel.
nice drawing
Beautifully done. I feel I could reach out and bite it.
Great
good👏👏👏
How did you get the white specks?
cool

If I may ask pls, What is your favorite water-colour brand?
I've used Winsor and Newton for many years and prefer it to any others I have tried. Use the professional grade not their Cotman line.
Please say what paper u useds for this painting
KAREN IM THE MANAGER
Good 👍👍👍❤️🙏😘😁
How did you get those minute pores on the apple, starting at 2:03?
Little light spots are created by removing paint with the tip of a small wet brush and blotting with a paper towel.
What technique did you use to create the white speckles that appear at 2:02?
The spots are done by wetting the tiny area with water and blotting with a paper towel.
Great Karen, how did you get the light spots on the bottom and right side of the apple?
+Putcha Narasimham Thank you! Little spots are made by touching a tiny area with a clean wet brush and blotting with a paper towel.
that is one round apple
Is this a dry into wet technique?
I start with a wet wash and the layers get progressively drier. Hope this helps!
You better should do your video continuously why you are not showing your highlights and details on your painting
