Best tutorial I've ever seen, you explain what you're doing, and you do step by step. Instead of some people who just draw and expect the viewer to know what's going on. So subscribed!
Very good illustration. I'm a returning artist who had not done any drawings or paintings over the last 25 years or so and to say I'm rusty is an understatement. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.
I used to be geat at drawing but then stopped to focus on my studies. as a returning artist your vids are amazing for both beginners and experienced artists you've inspired me to draw again and then taught me how, keep up the good work bro
Thank you .I AM just beginning to draw again, after taking time off to work with the military and other groups, which took me far away from just enjoying art. I have found great er peace in art than I have in years.... takes the memories away for a bit. I am sure my heads will look much better after the video on that topic. KEEP UP the great work.
+Scott Ridgway Thanks Scott. Art is wonderful because it's all about self exploration. You're always looking inwards to reach for that expression. It's a wonderful thing. Thank you for your service. I can only imagine what you and other service men has to go through. Makes me feel like a free-loader when I think of it.
Best tutorial ever. I drew my own hand from the side, and using the techniques you taught, I got a decent looking result in the end. It's not Picasso status, but it's good enough for what I want to do :)
Man, you're the best! really, I don't speak english but I know a bit so I don't understand all the video but one picture talk more that one thousand of words... thanks!
I am from an Arab country and I follow you and I became able to try to draw after my sense of failure now I am thanks to your clear education of easy steps and detail I can despite not understanding the language well
Youre doing it again, Master Wei! I've been hiding hands for far to long and just decided to try to learn, and here you are with another AWESOME tutorial. Thanks so much for all of your help, bro. Again, right on time.
Nucu Yeah, I get that a lot in the comments. It depends on where you go to school I guess. Most regular art classes are too general, you know, like drawing still lifes=). Nothing wrong with that but these kinds of lessons you can more easily find in specialized courses or workshops.
This blew my mind brain. I sketch for fun, I gave up the ghost years ago bc it wasn't "cool" but this guy does better hands than I EVER imagined, on a computer no less. Mind...blown.
Ive watched several of your videos now and have learned quite a bit for my very limited skill set. Thanks for laying it out simple with out trying to turn it into a math program like some other instructors.
hey this was great thanks so much! do you have any tips on how to draw a clenched fist? and also the hand from the side but with the pinky finger being closest?
superb.. learnt a lot about knucklw positions. Just one observation.. @ 14:14 when you started drawing the little finger, from the angle probably the back of the finger should appear from right side or in other words, the finger should point inwards rather than outwards may be...
Did you ever go to an art school? I'm 16 and I want to learn how to draw realistic people but I don't know which books to get to teach me and I'm teaching myself....what sources did you use to start drawing?
This was extremely helpful, but unfortunately, it isn't clear how to use this method when hands are in odd positions such as when the palm curves like when you touch your pinky to your thumb, or when your thumb is in a different position such when you show the number 4 with your fingers. Clutching a ball or holding a pencil are also difficult with this method. It's there a way you can make a tutorial about drawing hands in different common positions?
You always think hands are easy to draw: Until you draw them. Nice video, it helped me to get the size of all the structures perfectly. But they still don't look like I want them, looks like I need a lot of practice :D Anyway thanks.
WeiWorks Well, I would like see one about color values. It's been very hard to me to pick colors that work well together. Another about airbrush would be damn good as well ... thanks pal!
I am not bad ad drawing generally, but I kinda sucked at few times I tried drawing hands. So I followed this tutorial and was drawing in parallel to watching and it went very good. Almost perfect just in the first try. This is amazing tutorial and you are great teacher by explaining the baseic geometry and steps. Thanks very much!
This video was very useful thanks for sharing! ^__^ Also do you think that you can do a tutorial on how to draw clothing folds, particularly when applied to the human figure. I find it pretty difficult to create convincing folds on the human figure ^
I do have a video on drawing cloth in general. Please check out my other videos. It's not clothing on a figure but it is about cloth. That's a great suggestion though. I will put that on my list of things to do. Thanks.
If you're having issues, it might be because of your perspective? You can break anything down to basic geometric forms, then it'll be easier to manage.
Haha, thanks Melissa, yeah, I'm guilty of hidings hands as well. It was only when I was learning animation as to how important the hands were. I don't skip them anymore=).
Very well done. I've always struggled with hands started out as binding them. Pockets or behind the back then making them very undefined but they always look very strange. This video ways very helpful thank posting it.
Wei I just started watching some of your tutorials , pretty good, I have to take in context what your saying and my instructor and put them together with some fun of my own sketches
Best tutorial I've ever seen, you explain what you're doing, and you do step by step. Instead of some people who just draw and expect the viewer to know what's going on. So subscribed!
Thanks so much Wei! You're guidance is helping me through some creative fumbles. Much appreciated!
Thanks you Holly.
Very good illustration. I'm a returning artist who had not done any drawings or paintings over the last 25 years or so and to say I'm rusty is an understatement. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.
Carmelo Crespo That's great Carmelo, I'm glad you've decided to pick it up again. Good luck.
I used to be geat at drawing but then stopped to focus on my studies. as a returning artist your vids are amazing for both beginners and experienced artists you've inspired me to draw again and then taught me how, keep up the good work bro
Alpha Cube Great, I'm glad it helps you. Actually I'm a returning artist as well as most of my career has been with 3D computer graphics.
Art of Wei Wow, as someone currently going for the 3d biz, what made you change your careers?
Art of Wei I would also like to know what made you change careers as well, unless there is a private reason behind it or just don't want to say it.
Thank you .I AM just beginning to draw again, after taking time off to work with the military and other groups, which took me far away from just enjoying art. Best tutorial ever. I drew my own hand from the side, and using the techniques you taught, I got a decent looking result in the end. It's not Picasso status, but it's good enough for what I want to do :)
Kacy Espinoza =). Thanks Kacy. Yeah, it's amazing how well it works considering how simple the guidelines are.
your doing the art world a favor!! thank you, and many more fabulous works of art your way.
+Morgan Goble Thank you Morgan.
Man, you're the best! really, I don't speak english but I know a bit so I don't understand all the video but one picture talk more that one thousand of words... thanks!

Youre doing it again, Master Wei! I've been hiding hands for far to long and just decided to try to learn, and here you are with another AWESOME tutorial. Thanks so much for all of your help, bro. Again, right on time.
Thank you Anthony. We're all guilty of hiding the hands at one point or another=).
~Things they dont teach you in art class~
Great video! Very insightful
Nucu Yeah, I get that a lot in the comments. It depends on where you go to school I guess. Most regular art classes are too general, you know, like drawing still lifes=). Nothing wrong with that but these kinds of lessons you can more easily find in specialized courses or workshops.
Legit the teacher made us watch this during zoom XD
This blew my mind brain. I sketch for fun, I gave up the ghost years ago bc it wasn't "cool" but this guy does better hands than I EVER imagined, on a computer no less. Mind...blown.
+Dustin Gosser Thanks.

Thank you allan, I'm gad you like it.
Just knowing a few rules about how joints and finger lengths are spaced helps a lot.
Very well explained! I just started digital art and this tutorial helped me a lot with hand construction aspect. Thank you
Right now I am doing hand studies in my sketch book and this will help me refine the proportions. Thanks!
Hands are such a challenge, but after watching your video, I am anxious to get out my sketch book. Thanks!

Finally, somewhere where I can learn how to draw hands. This should help me man.
AFK man ?
Art of Wei Oh sorry. I just realised what I wrote. Just let me fix it quickly.
AFK man There we go, done. What do you think?
this was really cool!! I actually did better on the second hand example
on the first example. the thumb size was the hardest part. this is great
December Soul Yeah, the thumb tends to mess up the hands for a lot of artist.
he just flipped us off
Great instruction video, thanks for sharing this!
+Anders Grusell Thanks for watching Anders.

+KhorneOnTheCob Thanks.
hey this was great thanks so much! do you have any tips on how to draw a clenched fist? and also the hand from the side but with the pinky finger being closest?
papayafrost I might do that later on. Thanks for the suggestion.
it'd be super helpful if you could also do a video on how to draw palm facing up (pinky finger closest to the viewer)
Thanks! Love your videos.
+Countess K8 Thank you
this video was so helpful thank you so much for making this
+Rachael Mccaughey Thanks for watching Rachael.
superb.. learnt a lot about knucklw positions. Just one observation.. @ 14:14 when you started drawing the little finger, from the angle probably the back of the finger should appear from right side or in other words, the finger should point inwards rather than outwards may be...
Sandipan Chakraborty Yeah, you're right, they should point inwards a bit, as all the fingers have that slight tilt.
Very helpful. Thank you!
Grant Rodrigue Great. Thanks for watching.
Did you ever go to an art school? I'm 16 and I want to learn how to draw realistic people but I don't know which books to get to teach me and I'm teaching myself....what sources did you use to start drawing?
Thank you very much. Very helpful!

Very well laid out video. Thank you.

Clutching a ball or holding a pencil are also difficult with this method. It's there a way you can make a tutorial about drawing hands in different common positions?
+Robert Davis Yeah, the hand is very complex. What I like to do is to just draw your own hand. You have the perfect reference there=).
You always think hands are easy to draw: Until you draw them. Nice video, it helped me to get the size of all the structures perfectly. But they still don't look like I want them, looks like I need a lot of practice :D
Anyway thanks.
+xeesn Thanks xeesn. Have fun drawing.

Joshua Hoper Yeah, if you have a stylus with your tablet like the Galaxy Note 10.1. I have that too but found it too small to draw on. Anyhow...
Amazing video
So easy to understand your explanation
(P.S. I subscribed)
Great, I'm glad it's clear.

+miyukipg Thanks miyukpg
I like the "wei" you explained proportions. I thought, at first, hands were "wei" too complicated.
After watching many tutorials about drawing hands, I thought I had a basic idea of the structure of hands, until I watched this one.
Thank you jieyi.
Looks real easy when you do it.
If you're having issues, it might be because of your perspective? You can break anything down to basic geometric forms, then it'll be easier to manage.
Thank you! that's so helping!
Yael Futerwhait Thanks for watchin Yael.
thanks so much! you really showed me the Wei.
What I needed thank you , im guilty of hiding hands lol very good video! :)

Very well done. I've always struggled with hands started out as binding them. Pockets or behind the back then making them very undefined but they always look very strange. This video ways very helpful thank posting it.
+Rina Weber Thanks Rina. Yeah, the hand is not hard once you get the basic structure down.
