A good friend of mine used to demand we play this at the office whenever he made a sale, and used to say he wanted it played at his funeral, so we did, very loud. R.I.P Dean.
to turn a string song into trance like this can only be done by a God. If you have heard the original and was told to turn it into a dance tune you would still be scratching your head now. pure talent
I remember this song when I was very, very young. Toddler ages, around 5 or 6. On my mother's music track, still on the hunt for those songs. I've been finding them more, and more! But, i will hopefully succeed!
I turned this as loud as it could go. Put it on full screen on my 32 inch in a darkened room with the sky grey outside then had tears rolling down my face with the goose pimples up my back making the hair on the back of my neck stand on edge. PURE BRILLIANCE! Well done to Will and Ferry. Awesome. Trance and classical merge so well.
much like you this was the track that introduced me to trance music. I remember there was a Sky channel called classical or similar and this fantastic tune kept coming on. Eventually I found its the shortened version of Ferry Corstens 1999 classic. It's worth hunting out trance music back to 1999 (the year of trance), and it would be remiss of me not to recommend my favourites channel here which is filled with anthemic trance.! Enjoy & Good Luck !
966 days ago - I lost my little brother suddenly - this was his ringtone for about 18 years and I only ever heard the intro - only after I lost him did I have the pleasure of listening to it in its entirety ............ now I understand why he never changed it - ASTOUNDING!!!!
This tune is Excellent. An incredible beat. My favourite tune from 1999. I remember first hearing this in December 1999. Such fond memories of this great tune and that Time period. I loved the year 1999, A lot of cool things happened that year. It was a nice end of an era and the beginning of a new Age in the year 2000.
To be honest this was one of the first formerly technosongs I listened to, wen i was back in 6th or 7th grade. By then I alreade liked most of the tunes my parents had on tape, about late disco- early hi nrg traks on tape or on vinyl, but no one at school cared abot them or about electro at all! Every single dude would listen to those ephimeral mainstream pop artists back then. Now I can still follow the same line, theese songs are classics and there are still quite some good tecno artists. a
Absolute Weltklasse der Song. Seit ich ihn das erste Mal gehört hab, bin ich danach verrückt und verbinde so viel damit aus meiner Vergangenheit. Einfach unbeschreiblich!
The work is the slow movement, "Adagio" in Italian, from American Composer Samuel Barber's String Quartet No. 2. (1936). Even in an altered form, this work being admired by you younger peeps, makes me smile. Barber scored the work for a.full.body of Strings including Basses. If you like synthesized works, check out William Orbit's complete reading. Your comment was awesome.
I like that W Orbit's version opens up this extraordinary work to an entirely new generation and audience. It was written in 1936 by Samuel Barber and conducted by giantslike Toscannini and Eugene Ormandy on live radio broadcasts. While mainstream listeners recognize, it's usually only classical fans who know what it is. Thank you William Orbit!
As a Symphony musician, I back up your facts. The even and equality of tones in Orbit's synthesized full version is a!axing to hear. Barber rather detested the fame of his "Adagio". Toscannini described Barber's work as " Bella" Semplice"...Beautiful and simple.
This tune is a true legend - big props to Orbit and of course to Barber for the amazing original - can't have a great remix without a great tune ! ... \oo/o Rock on!
Boah ich hab so lange gesucht nach diesem lied.... 1000 jahre in meinem kopf und wusste nicht mehr den Interpreten und den Titel... krass man endlich gefunden ♡ ich liebte diese melodie ...
Maybe one ofthe best trance tracks ever made. This piece has so much power in it. Plus, this video is genius and timeless. Maybe the best trance video ever made.
@marcos.........It's all subjective, personally for me this version is miles better. Probably because I was around in the club's when it come out and it has some nostalgia.
@@BlitzedIT I don't think in this case it is that subjective, this version is musically superior, the build up, the drop, the flow. To like the tiesto version more is to be the kind of person who goes to ibiza to be seen and not for the music
This video made me love and cherish the natural world as a child, and I still carry it with me to this day. It's beyond despairing what we've done to our planet...
I remember when i heard this track by this uploader on youtube about 5/6 years ago.. it had 175 likes and 0 unlikes... sinces then... its amazing to see how many people have viewed this track... just a nostalgic moment.. lol... thought i'd share it with u. lol

This never fails to take you to a different place..just a classic. You think you never made it to Ibiza and then realise you know all the great trance tunes...
Agreed. I think that William Orbit makes this (rather very sad) song very powerful since he amplified the important parts. I miss that if I hear the Tiesto version, some parts get a bit lost in Tiesto's version. So I also think that William Orbit's version is much better.
I know. Barber did, therefore it's called Barber's Adagio For Strings. Btw, have I somewhere mentioned that Orbit has composed it? I just said that he made this sad song powerful. Have I passed the IQ test now? :P
I think it`s good to slow down sometimes. Thank so much to mr orbit for creating this song. I can`t find words to describe what this song makes me feel like... georgeus, outstanding and sad, love it

That sucks man! I'm actually from Perth, Western Australia, so I know exactly what you're talking about. Yeah, it totally sucks that they have to cut down the trees that produce the oxygen we breathe in order to make man made buildings and structures. But you wouldn't be living in the house you are today if they hadn't. I just think, if they need to cut down one tree, they should plant two more.
