I loved all his books so much and admired him, but really never had heard him speak. I was a tad bit afraid that I would be disillusioned if I watched this. But in fact, I am more of a fan than ever. His honesty, his humility, his humor. Best author ever, and that comes from many many years of being an avid reader. Fredrik Backman is outstanding in my opinion.
I agree 100%!!! I’ve never been the type to look into authors as people with that same fear of it throwing my view of them off but he exceeds it extraordinary, so refreshing for someone to be so authentic and honest and funny. Without a doubt my favorite author for every possible reason:)
Your writing makes me feel less alone and consoled. Thank you soso much Fredrik Backman. It is life aid.
I read anxious people in June of last year and I loved it so much that I began to read the rest of his books and finished everything he’s published this June with the winners. Not only my favorite author but such a clearly incredible human being. His interviews inspire me to start writing more regularly!
My book club read A Man Called Ove and Bear Town and we really liked both. I saw both the Swedish and American versions of the movie. Both were good, the Swedish version a little better. I just ordered The Winners from my library, can’t wait to read it. What an entertaining, funny man. As he was talking about his family, I could see his characters forming.
I loved hearing his thoughts. An insightful human and a wonderful writer.
me toooooo
This interview helps me understand Mr. Backman and how he writes. I picked up his novel in Oregon (Ove) and fell in love with his style of writing. So much so, that I bought all of his other books. The interview sheds light on his struggles; however, it enlightens us as to why he writes with such emotion and passion, since it emerges from the struggles within himself. I'm so glad I came across this today.
I LOVE all his books! ❤
As a writer, this interview inspired me a lot
A Most enjoyable interview listening to an author I admire. He knows himself so well.
Love his simple, emotive writing style. His humanity is admirable.
The Only bothersome issue was the interviewer who seemed impatient, and his wanting to interrupt the author. He didn't seem to connect or listen at times but had his own agenda which interfered with the flow. He seemed restless and impatient. The most enjoyable part was just listening to the author "get off track" and just talk; so just allow him to talk.
Just Wonderful! The best and finest of the Swedish sense of humour
What an amazing interview. "The minor chord and the major chord." Wow - his writing perfectly described. I've read everything Backman - he's my favorite. All of his books make me cry - even the funny ones. Thank you so much for this. Please tell Fredrik I'm so glad his wife is a lunatic - she's obviously a great influence on him. And keep coming with those stories. They could not be more human or more brilliant.
"my grandmother sends her regards and apologises" seems a bit autobiographical? In fact I just recommended this book after a discussion we had on our weekly walk today. It seemed fitting.
I attended this and it was great.
I'm so glad I found this interview - I'd read "Ove" some time ago, but had no idea it would stay with me as long as it has - will certainly immerse myself now in his writing and I'm sorry it's taken me so long, it's my loss ... every other sentence he speaks is quotable , remarkable ...
Fredrik Backman and Terry Pratchett, are my two favourite authors in the world. I am so happy to hear Fredrik say what he did about the singing, I tell people that all the time about art, about music. Technical perfection is not what moves a person, the artist's own heart (I call it seeing the hand of the artist) must come through to have an effect on the person experiencing the art. I have read every book that Fredrik Bakman has out there and they all moved me deeply. He writes with heart and you can feel it.
can you recommend me any book of terry Pratchett?
I love this interview. Frederik is hilarious and so insightful. Just like his books.
