    Often over looked water parameter is the pH. But it's quite significant parameter for higher end caridina shrimp. In this video we'll discuss many aspects of pH in caridina (crystal and taiwan bee) tanks.
    Do you monitor the pH in your caridina shrimp tanks?

    Do you have plan to do a shrimp room tour? Your room seems intresting. Would love to see your tank one by one and explain how you do stuff around the roon in general

      It sounds like magical for him. Not much maintainence needed. I have 3 small tanks and I play with the water too much. Bad idea. 😂

    I desperately need some advice from someone that knows! I’ve been told my water parameters may be better for caridina shrimp but I’ve been planning on getting neocaridinas. I’ve been cycling for 3 weeks, only have a snail in there for now and here are my parameters.
    PH 6.6
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrate 0
    Nitrite 0
    GH 3 or 4
    KH 3
    It’s a planted tank with a couple plants and some moss, fluval substrate and temp is 70.
    Any advice is so appreciated!

      Stable water parameters and quality shrimp is key. Your kh is a bit high for caridina shrimp. I'd go with cherry or neocaridina shrimp. The fluval is causing the ph to go lower. Tank parameters is looking like a hood start. What size is the aquarium? Do you have any live plants like moss or stem plants in there

      @KaylainKY 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@RWAquariumPages thanks so much for your reply! I was also worried about the kh. It’s a 10 gallon, I currently have a fern, a taller type plant, java moss and duckweed. Then I also have a log that has some kind of live growth on it as well but it hasn’t sprouted out yet.

      @KaylainKY thx for your comments and support. In your case, I'd fine some quality home bred neos and go from there. Ph 6.6 is great for caridina because of the substrate but the kh, yeah I wouldn't risk it

      @@RWAquariumPages I agree! Do you think I should try to bring my GH up a bit, or my ammonia? I got some comments on Reddit about that.

      @RWAquariumPages  6 месяцев назад

      @KaylainKY I don't feel you should chase water parameters numbers, just keep it stable and within range and it'll be honestly be fine. But make sure you get some quality shrimp, not some cheapie sick ones

    When i see when something is not right, first i check PH and go from there. When cycleing im not cheking it, i already know wich soil will give me what...using ada gold, ada v2 and glasgarten, i got new chihiros soil, will test it for next tank, should be good for crystals

      You can use buffering substrate like Afa amazonia, you can use dark or peat extract or you can use co2

    RO water with zero tds does not have a neutral PH. That is my experience. It is much lower . My holding tub of 300 liter goes well below 5 ph . I have over the past year never seen it go beyond 5.8ph.

      great comment, my rodi water with 0tds is about ph 7.2, but this is interesting to know, i'll have to investigate this further
