I really think they could have been together, but the timing was never right. Beautiful on screen chemistry though, I'm glad we got to see that. I'm fully convinced that a lot of their acting together, in the emotional scenes, really wasnt acting, and it was just raw emotion.
To me the sad bit is this: in the show they seem a perfect match, similarly good looking, matching personalities... but irl John is much less introverted than Jim and more charismaric. I mean, no offence to Jenna, but Emily Blunt is kinda in another league to her, and the fact she is married with John just goes to show that he's probably a rizz god. It's kind of sad for Jenna if she really did feel John's natural charme through Jim at some point, but knew things could never work offscreen and that she couldn't compete with Emily.
