Anyone complaining in the comments section saying you shouldn't fingerpick a Martin dread have no idea what the hell they're talkin about. It's refreshing to hear actual music played on one for once. FS bracing, scalloped in a GE or authentic fashion on a dread is literally perfect for finger picking. So was any other type of music, finger picked or not. I love finger picking my Martin. You ant to hear blue grass, go listen to one of the hundred boring other videos out there of it So annoying reading some of this nonsense. Dreads are the most versatile guitars out there. Including finger picking
In my life I've loved you all .this gem has been used and abused.....but Martin builds em tough.good repairs and new frets. This gentleman loves the Beatles he's alright with me.
That's some brilliant insight... It was a demo for a guitar that was for sale. I would think that someone considering buying a 10K guitar would like to hear it played in as many genres as possible. How about you show us how a pre-war D-18 is "supposed to" be played?
@borrowmeadolla oh yeah that's why a lot of professional musicians and great gutarists used Yairi right? Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Neil Young, Willie Nelson and Kurt Cobain to name a few.
@pacwacwac No just Jerry Garcia, John Mellencamp, Monty Montgomery, Crosby Stills and Nash, Peter Frampton, Aaron Lewis Ani DiFranco, Bob Weir Waylon Jennings, Carly Simon YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, Warren Haynes Jeff Cook and Roy Clark...Just to name a few.
Nice guitar. 1939?? According to Martin serial numbers chard the serial numbers show your guitar as being made in 1938. That means the price just went up!!!
Mike I actually included Aaron Lewis, but as to the notion all other guitars are measured by Martin standards, this is true as well. Takamine, sells more guitars than Martin, because they still build them like the OLD Martins. Martin is great if you are willing to shell out thousands for a name. I could eclipse the sound of todays Martins for a fraction. And yes, my $400 box smokes Martins Gibbys you name it, don't knock it till you own one. I have several high dollar custom shop pcs. Yairi=Win
borrowmeadolla i have a few Yairis one Brazilian rosewood and they play as nice as Martins or Taylor's do for half the price. i never played a Tak that i liked honestly but country players like them.
Yngwie is Just about as good as any amazing guitarist out there. I hardly found anyone on Mr. WacWacs' list an "amazing" guitarist. Save- Clapton and MAYBE Mayer. Neil Young is a very good player also. But the rest only play Martin for the check. Lets face it, martin has sucked since the end of WWII. Chinese makers like Eastman and even a few very special Blueridges are blowing away our American blow hard brands anymore. Get over yourselves Nazareth, lets build the best again.
That makes absolutely no sense dreads are amazing for finger-picking. Especially pre wars or amy FS scalloped braced Martins. I literally buy them for that
First off my friend, I wasn't thumping on my chest about value, if I were, please point this out and I will gladly apologize. However, in terms of sound quality, a Yairi, just like A Honda or Toyota is a much better value than the shit we americans pump out such as Chrysler, Ford, GM. Take your pick, We as Americans may cherish our American made instruments, they tend to be well made, as are our vehicles, but true to history the Japanese are just doing it better...for less. Thank you.

Amazing sound and playing! One of the best sounding demos ive heard. But the guitar is something else,im sure whoever bought it is happy!
Wow this guitar sounds really phenomenal!
what a treat to hear a demo by someone that can actually play real songs well ...thank you very nice picking to say the least
sounds better then the d35 you hear from them today
Let's hear it!
Lol, i love how he pulls out Black Bird! I learned that in middle school!
The chords for Heart Of Gold verses are Em C D G .
You are correct!
Tone to the damn bone...d18 low end is so rich....
In my life I've loved you all .this gem has been used and abused.....but Martin builds em tough.good repairs and new frets. This gentleman loves the Beatles he's alright with me.
Really cool guitar!!!
I would like to hear Phil X play this awesome axe.
Outstanding guitar.

I have to agree with you. I'd be willing to bet most people interested in a prewar Martin dreads are flatpickers not fingerpickers.
Beautiful sounding guitar. Great player too, the part that nobody can seem to build into a guitar.
Superb tone and balance.when you play one of these,it"s hard to play newer guitars.I love old M
artins!
@haggardjf i meant, i cant tell whether hes stoned or just with his eyes closed. but sure, let's go with that.
@pacwacwac No just Jerry Garcia, John Mellencamp, Monty Montgomery, Crosby Stills and Nash, Peter Frampton, Aaron Lewis Ani DiFranco, Bob Weir Waylon Jennings, Carly Simon YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, Warren Haynes Jeff Cook and Roy Clark...Just to name a few.

Neil young?
@BornAgainBabyJesus
O'l dudes a crafty veteran, with his sort of experience, it's all muscle memory. No need to see.
I have one.
sure
his playing doesn't do that guitar justice.
First thing I thought as well.
Actually the first time I've heard someone dudes Martin Justice in a long time
this is what is known as a "troll checkmate!" :-)
Something going on with string 6.Low E is rumbling.
Why are you screaming Yngwie Malmsteen? What did he ever do to you????
What is this song @ 6' 30 ? I would like to play it !
Blackbird.
Guitar guy just tore down the frets. Great playing, though!

Not a good demo. Sad.

borrowmeadolla Neil Young plays sloppy imo but i like his songs.
Since ww2 sucks? Nooo. There are some great d28s d18, 41 45s since 1945....I will say that anything with the model number under D 18 is usually crap
does the guy playing it have his eyes closed?
is this guy blind?
Shemp gave him a double eye poke.
Mike Brady Ouch!
i third that. fingerpicking a martin dread..... might as well go wrap it around a pole when you're done. that or give it to me, whatevs.
