    ISKALL THIS FEELS LIKE WALKING INTO THE MIDDLE OF A 3 HOUR LONG PODCAST WITH NO CONTEXT.
    Also if you are genuinely curious, you and your brother could do a 23 and me and through related family he will show up as a half brother if that is correct!

      23 and me is a terrible idea at least in the us where it looks like insurance companies will start denying coverage if someone in your family did one and is at higher risk for problems

      Yes, his third brother could do a DNA relatedness test with one (or more) of his brothers to determine whether they are full or half siblings. Many companies/organisations provide this service (so no need to use 23 And Me if worried about their privacy policy).
      Also many countries outside the USA (particularly EU or Commonwealth) have laws that prohibit insurance companies from using/acting on data from DNA testing organisations.

    • @archecadett
      @archecadett Месяц назад

      In some euro countries i know that DNA testing is illegal and to get one you must go through a judge at least in France and Switzerland due to the large amount of cheating and the gov not wanting families being broken up over it.

    my grandmother was the daughter of a literal portuguese peasant in central portugal. Somehow she bougth sea front 4 bedroom apartment with priviledged view of the Tagus, while being an hairdresser. She retired at 40 because, and I quote, "a storm removed my sign and I just did not care and retired". She spent the rest of her life enjoying herself and is, technically, a millionaire in real estate.

    Parents OFTEN choose to not remember things that they may perceive as a negative on their image.
    I was on a ladder, drilling a hole with a cordless. I was like 8, and my weak little noodle arms dropped the drill right on his face. So he gets kinda frustrated and instead of just reacting in pain, he slaps me backhanded in the Nethers. I'm 35 now and any time I've brought it up in the past he has vehemently denied that this ever happened. He is a man who can recall things perfectly (most of the time) that he ENJOYS recalling. But say something he did that was bad? Never. Ever. Happened. EVER. But doesn't just deny it happened, gets MAD if I bring it up, saying he could never have been so mean over an accident.
    It is a proven phenomenon with older people (50+ years). So I 1000% believe Iskall's mom did this thing and is either choosing to, or unable to believe it happened. So, depending on which it is, that's a very interesting, if annoyingly frustrating, mental disorder called Dissociative Amnesia. Your body is constantly changing. You may stop "growing" but your body is always replacing cells, and your biology alters (which is why some people can eat shrimp for years and years and years, and then SUDDENLY develop an allergy to shellfish) and we also know that as you grow older your mind starts to fail more often. So to wrap up this ramble, yeah very likely it probably happened. I just don't understand the bit where old people get ANGRY that they forgot something BAD happening and have to get defensive about it. Ok? It happened dude, accept that you mucked up in the past, no one is perfect. But defending yourself and saying it NEVER happened really says to me anyways that you do remember and you're just denying it. So _Why_. *WHY*.
    Anyways, not trying to bring any negativity, this is just an observation I've had many times over the years and thought it was interesting that this seems to be yet another shared experience I have with people around my age! I can't wait for MY mind to start falling apart lol 😬

    I started balding when I was 16,shaved it all off when I was 18. I couldn't even imagine having hair now. Also, in over 30 yrs of shaving my head I've saved a lot of money on haircuts, shampoos and whatever other crap people put on their heads, lol.

    • @Shako_Lamb
      @Shako_Lamb 27 дней назад

      I started balding at 18. One of my grandfathers, according to my mother (because he died when she was a teenager), had no hair left when he was 30. And otherwise I look almost identical to my other grandfather, who lived his entire life with a full head of hair. I tried some products to keep my hair for a while, then said screw it and now I shave my entire head every morning.
      I love being bald, but the thing that still frustrates me is that my hair was GORGEOUS. Very tight curls, that when done up right, would look like the hair on a Greek statue. I still feel like I lost something really special, even though I like what I have now.

    Regarding aging, I know that as you age your body takes longer to recover and it becomes easier to get certain injuries, but I am looking forward to getting older. I have relatively recently entered my 30s and am looking forward to turning 40, 50 etc. Part of this may be that a lot of my friends didn't think they would live past their early 20s, but I am thankful that they are still with us and are thriving in ways they never could have predicted.
    Something we all have in common is that we age and at some point we will die, may as well enjoy what we can while we can.

    time feeling faster as you get older is a very much real and explainable thing, its just perspective. as a kid the first 20 years felt like forever, its all the only reference you have for experiencing time, the more years go by the less % of time in your overall life that year is. 1 year for a 10yr is a whole 10% of that kids life, 1 yr for a 40yo is 2.5% of that person's life.

    The buying of pensioner homes is an interesting idea. The buyer would need to take out a loan/mortgage, but rent would pay for that month to month. Definitely not a get rich quick scheme.
    However, I think for the pensioner it would make more sense to get a reverse mortgage or line of credit (take out a mortgage on a fully owned property). This would let them continue to own while getting cash in hand. If they have kids to inherit after they die, they can either take on the loan payments, or sell for the presumably even higher market value, pay off the loan, and still make some money from it.

    In Belgium the minimum pension you get is about 100 or 200 (like a pretty substantial amount) euros less than what retirement homes ask. So if you are older and perhaps in need of some aid in living, you have to find 200 euros a month at least. And that gets you the most basic stuff.

    That talk about not feeling your age is so real. I am now 32. Do you think I feel a day older than 20? Hell nah. I genuinly do not.
    When you are younger you can feel it, see it, experiene it. Things change so much. Once you hit 20 its all the same stuff every single day.
    I feel back in the day it was very different to how it was now which is why older folk may not experience it the same way. Cause back then things were on the rise, stuff was discovered, the world largely unknown. Nowadays its all just interconnected, global, we see everything everywhere at the same time as the rest of the world.

    Now if it was to physically be 17 again but retain my "knowledge and wisdom" and adult freedoms then hell yeah sign me up! My back didnt hurt nearly as bad back then as it does now after some physical labor. XD

    From a 24 year old who saves money every month its sometimes a combo of anxiety, luck, and a good deal of gaslighting employers

    Generational wealth is real. Most people that are crushing it didn't start in the same place as the general or low income public. It's not a knock, it's just real. My grandmother has a reverse mortgage, she got help when she needed it most and when she dies, her house is already owned by a company. She's not rich, she doesn't have anything to inherit anyway, but now she was able to use her equity before death. It can be a good thing.

      Sure that might be true, but you will never be satisfied. There will always be some higher place you could get to, I think that's what they really mean by that saying is that it won’t satisfy you. You could have all the money in the world and, sure, you might not have to worry about things like bills, but you'll always have that craving for social validation, however little, it's human nature. And what you will end up realizing is that there is no earthly thing that can satisfy us completely, you could always have a bigger house, or a newer car, or a better degree, but those things will never make you forever happy. Why do you think there are so many celebrities that just go downhill after becoming famous? Think of all the depressing songs by popular artist about how they thought that once they became famous, it would be fulfilling only to realize it was never enough? It happens over and over again until people become bitter and start blaming money. it's where the saying 'money is the root of all evil' comes from, but that's actually not true it's the LOVE of money that is the root of the problem. The paper itself is not evil, but the lines people will cross to get it are.

      @@theBumblingBudgieyeah but I will be free to search for whatever satisfies me mentally and spiritually, rather than searching for food in my stomach or heat in the house or putting every penny I earn in a landlord's pocket. If I don't have to worry about those things I can focus on what actually makes me happy. Rather than risk deteriorating mental and physical health due to stress over food and homelessness.

      @Flanneryschickens yes and that is a huge blessing for the people who can afford to live whithout that worry, but most people will always be struggling financially, and the hard part is, alot live their whole lives like that, and so that's why we need to give thanks for what we have now, even if it would be so much easier if we didn't have that stress, but the truth is we do, so we still have to make the most of the little things or we will end up living our whole lives wanting more and not being thankful for what we already have

    I think being 16 years old would've been a good time for me if i didn't live in a tiny village where none of my friends live and being dependent on eighter sleeping over at my friends house to do stupid stuff with them or always being driven around by my parents to get anywhere out of the village.
    Yeah, 16 could've been great

    Also. I’m 46 and can relate to this feeling of how did this happen?!
    At the end of the day, you’re an adult, you are paying your bills, independent and enjoying your life. That should be the goal of every parent when it comes to their kids x

    Never do equity release in your home. A lady across the street did it and they can demand you to pay for things in your home like a new heating system. By the time she died she had nothing left because they’d had her spending it on the house. Haha. It’s a common joke in nothern England to say about a kid being fathered by the post man or the milk man. My grandma says “it’s a rare child in our village that knows its father”. Ancestry/23andme is your friend.
