I think after them having a conversation about Iskall being the kind of guy to punch you off the platform for laughs it becomes pretty clear what he is about to do, when you see his nametag below you and hear block breaking sounds. Doc was already standing on two platforms then and there. One of the two was his bed though which acts as his spawn point, so moving to the roof is the better option incase any falling off happens.
