Caught a Galjoen in the middle of nowhere Blaauberg side, casted as far as i could and half my bait flew off in the air.
Something about casting close irritates me like the side wash so i cast far. Was also middle of the day and low tide guy next to me caught one as well. Used a grinder setup and braid was a huge learning curve for me. Not used to leaders and stuff but its a must. I'm use to Daiwa slosh. Grinder setups are more expensive with the multiplier you chuck on any line it just works

Yes, no fancy talk etc. This year however been ill badly so not much Galjoen outings in the cold, but what I have done is found out this year in particular the fish are very few and far between in my spots, As if the Galjoen died of the virus and should have worn masks.... lol

My last fish of the past season I used a chunk of bait I left under the sand for a week, it stank badly and I caught one of my nicest fish with it, hey no problem, thanks for the reply, no big secret really, its all a fun thing, great to be in the outdoors, so maybe next year we can go mask free and catch.....we all look like gringos now with masks lol

Go to Camps Bay, on the left of the beach is another rocky outcrop and another small beach, called GLEN BEACH, I grew up here, know it very well, on the right is on low tide masses of coral worm and the structure they live in, it is ever changing as the rough water washes it away and more holes form in other places, so its always active, it creates many holes, and Galjoen are plenty in that area.

Get a grinder setup with 20lb braid. You'll enjoy fishing for galjoen 10x more.

@@garylaubscher4487 its easier to cast a grinder than a jigmaster. Jigmaster is one of the hardest reels to master. Grinder is complicated? How?

@@elzharwp1wp123 Penn Jigmaster isnt hard mate, you have to just tune the reel correctly so you dont get overwinds, I started using them at the age of 12, easy peezy reels to cast once tuned so the spool isnt totally free.

@@saltaholic5235 May be old school, but at the end of the day its not the reel or fancy expensive rod that makes you catch fish its all knowledge is power, that's what catches fish not a fancy modern reel ......Yes I use an old timer Jigmaster 500 reel, and I am mighty proud of it, it an awesome reel, and I wont ever change. I collect them, last count I think I had 23, love them stukkend.

I was very lucky end of last season got a beautiful small juvenile in lovely condition was the most lovely fish I have ever caught, was stunning, almost to good to put back lol, and a nice big one for the coals. I hardly ever keep them, but that small one was beautiful, if you want a pic I can mail you for fun. Good luck in catching, its an awesome feeling that tug tug and pull, wham on!!!!!
