Me Rosen I understand where you are coming from. By reading your book I can feel how much you loved the guy. My heart breaks for you that you didn't get to communicate the last few years. But the years you did have! Omg! How unbelievable! What an amazing journey. He will always be the best in my book. I saw them at Oakland, I believe it was 87. Thank you for your writing. I loved every page of it. Took a week but it was totally worth it. Thank you so much!
I'm thinking about buying this as a present for a relative. Does Steve cover "Like Father Like Son" in the two videos on his channel? It sounds like he skipped things Edward said about his mother (and her family). Any help would be appreciated.
Steven was Edward in GUITAR WORLD….Jas (Obrecht) was Edward in GUITAR PLAYER….I always loved them BOTH.I remember this 1984 interview Steven talks about here and how it went into extensive detail of not just what Ed was doing in 1984 but into his history revealing a lot of new information…It must have been wonderful for Steven to be able to walk into 5150 and see all Ed’s guitars and equipment he had heard about. There’s a lovely picture of Steven with Ed in 5150 studio with both of them sitting down talking while both playing red ,black and white striped Kramer guitars.
Great job as always Steve, the book was / is awesome, and it is really great how you reply to every comment. Anything and everything you have on Ed is great being how everything over the years with VH was done under cloak and secrecy. EVH was, IMHO the G.O.A.T. he set the world on fire with Eruption and continued to awe and inspire throughout his amazing career! I am so very thankful I grew up when I did. Someone posted a comment on the Castle Donington that was just released and you can clearly see how Ed was annoyed with Roth on stage in that footage. The smoking gun of how the band was near the end. Great footage but like watching the Titanic heading out to sea.

Tonechaser is a must for any Van Halen fan it is brillintly well written with a heart felt passion that cannot be eclipsed. Truly epic Steve. Have a wonderful Happy Birthday tomorrow Steve - I'll raise a mug of Java to you and a JD too.

@@LoyalOpposition Hi , whilst Steve did his best to meet and interview Edwards parents , unfortunately they both passed away before this could take place. They both are referenced and spoke about very fondly in Tonechaser. Buy the book , you will not regret it as its phenomenal .
Just viewed it….after the gig it has some wonderful footage of ED backstage after the gig signing autographs while talking to John Entwistle…So many over enthusiastic Brits rushing the stage..& Ed Anderson of security was one scary guy.

Hey Steve, I would guess that Eddie’s playing on Fair Warning was very influenced by Allan Holdsworth but he didn’t ever play like again from what I can tell that after that record. Would you agree? If so, why do you think that this was?
