Lanzerath Ridge Playthrough - Final Wave | DVG Dan Verssen Games | Wargame Historical Game | David Thompson & Nils Johansson
Thanks!
Thanks so much, Thomas, for the kind contribution! It's very much appreciated! I'm saving up for a new light and this will go towards that, thanks!
Congrats. Enjoyed that.
Thanks, Kirk! Glad you liked it. :)
Does it randomise at all, or are the waves always the same decks? Do you think it has much replay ability value it its always the same?
I'm not sure I can answer the question fully yet. I feel like there is some randomness in waves, but in many of the important ways they are pretty static, and the gameplay changes to more of a puzzler once you know what the cards are.
But there is an entire deck of Tactics Cards that are the next level of the game. And looking through those, they add a good bit of variety to gameplay. So while I don't feel like I'd play this level of the game a ton once I know what the cards are, I want to check out playing with the Tactics Cards to see how they change things.
Make sense?
@@ZillaBlitz Tactic Cards next time?
Professional video as usual. I like the non-judge mental presentation of the various games. As the old tune goes, “accentuate the positive.”
Thanks Thomas, I'm glad you enjoyed it. This series was a lot of fun to make. :)
Congratulations! What a riveting finale.
Thanks, David! It was fun to play and make too. I’m looking forward to starting the next series.
Amazing series. So much tension throughout!
Thanks, Custard! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
Great ending and play through !!
Thanks, Jon! It was great fun to make and play. :) I'm happy you liked it. :)
Splendid victory, Zilla! I was hoping to go Mano a Mano with a Fallschirmjager in the last round, but I’ll take my 10 kills and two Purple Hearts and have an exciting story to tell the grandkids around the fire back States Side! You got very lucky with your dice rolls. If I had been the one handling the dice we’d be getting nothing but ones, twos and threes. Obviously, card order is supremely important in this game, as it really wasn’t until the last round that the Germans were able to mount concentrated attacks on any of the positions and threaten a breakthrough.
Overall a very fine game. I thoroughly enjoyed my participation and look forward to being included in your next series, whatever it may be!
You did awesome, a rock out on the North Flank! I do feel like on the whole we had good fortune, especially in Wave 3, where the German MGs and Mortars really went in a lot of ways that were favorable to us. I also feel like we should have missed more of our rifle shots. The Inspire trait is so powerful, and it upped our chances to hit on many of our rifle shots from 62% to about 85%, but still, I feel like we shot at better than an 85% rate over the battle. In any case, it was a fun series to make, and I enjoyed playing it a lot. Thanks for volunteering! :)
Really enjoyed the playthrough, thanks for showing this game, my copy arrives tomorrow 😀
Thanks for the kind words, Keith, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you enjoy the game!
A very enjoyable game win or lose. First two time's around for me killed by the dice rolls, finally made it at the third attempt. Very enjoyable play through and a victory as well. Congratulations.
Congrats on winning! And thanks! Yeah, there are certain critical shots, and if you string together some misses at the wrong time it can be really tricky.
Congrats for the victory. My copy arrived yesterday, but I am going to wait until my cube4me arrives from Poland to punch the counters. Knowing roughly where the attacks are going to come from seems a bit 'gamey' so hopefully the Tactics cards can add some more 'fog of war' and replayability.
Yes, I think the gameplay shifts quite a bit once you've played through the game and know the cards. I'm curious to see how the Tactics Cards influence things.
Great videos! However, it was frustrating watching your incredible dice rolls. I NEVER, EVER, NEVER roll dice like that. Hence, I have yet to survive the final round.
Ha! I think we were quite lucky overall here. If you watch the submarine series, though, you’ll see the opposite. Silent Victory was so bad. :)
mate that was just awesome, carnt believe i survived lol, fantastic series more plz
That worked out better than I expected, you all did marvelous! :)
I am now playing my first game of Lanzerath Ridge. My 12 year old son is the commander, and I'm the logistics. We are having a blast as we have defended through two waves so far (I also provide the sound effects). My son loves to put the defeated germans in the chit container he calls the "graveyard". He told me this game is so much fun and he is asking me to start another german wave! Great way to get my son involved outside of screens. Great game!
Oh, that's great to hear! I added this game to the "Introductory Wargames" video I did over the weekend and while I felt like it could be used to introduce newcomers to the hobby, I wasn't 100% sure. It's great to hear stories like this! So happy to hear that your son is enjoying the game with you! Thanks for sharing. :)
Glad to be on the team with Lile! I guess my foxhole was deep enough for both of usSince we didn't get hit. If a leader appears when you have Germans stacked up behind the wire how does the stack move? do they spread out or is it a stack of guys on one space?
Nice work, Dento! As many as 3 enemies can stack up behind the wire, and when the leader enters the line those enemies move in one big blob. And you have to take them out individually. I felt like in general it makes sense to shoot any German at the wire as soon as possible, especially if you have the Inspire trait going. That gives you about an 85% chance to hit, assuming you're shooting from the same zone with D8 dice.
Another top notch gameplay and also storytelling with this series, really enjoyed this mate, it was so engaging! Me and my inspirational pom poms thank you.
Haha! Thanks much, Parkera! I’m glad you enjoyed it! It was great fun to make too.
Excellent playthrough. Really enjoyed it. “Super P” must have been eating his packed lunch during wave 4, but still a crack shot. 😀
Thanks for volunteering. You did great, and just missed that shot. The paratrooper ducked at the last second!
A very entertaining series. Congrats to Lile for topping the kill chart. Hoping to get in on one of these. Thank you ZB
Zilla great with keeping a list or something so he knows whose turn it is to join in.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I generally run sign ups a few days before one starts. Not all games work well for volunteers, but some do. :)
Fantastic! Thanks so much for taking the time to film and share this amazing series!
I've very much enjoyed exploring the game and creating the series. It was great fun to do, and thank you for the opportunity. :)
That was a fun series, if all goes well today I will have some time later to play some "The Hunted"
Thanks! And happy hunting with the Hunted! You will need all your mojo!
A thorough and absolutely enjoyable playthrough. Bravo! 🙌
Thanks, Nils! And thanks for stopping in! :)
I'M A MONSTAAAAAAH!!! That was so fun, thank you so much for this series! It's not every day I get to be a super cool machine gunner :D That was so much fun to watch and we got quite lucky at points but I loved the drama of it all! Can't wait for what's coming next ☺
Great shootin kid
@@duncanrae466 thank you, Sir 🫡
You were god mode on that M2! Saved the whole interior defense from loads of stress with your crack shooting. I'm looking forward to the next thing, too! :)
Hi zilla how are you great video
Thanks! I hope you are well too! :)
@@ZillaBlitz I'm good thanks
Please do a playthrough of Castle Itter?
That would be fun, yes. At some point, I hope to do all the Valiant Defense games. :)
Thank you from Italy! Very useful playthrough, well done! But why you changed the names of US soldiers?
Thanks! I’m glad you liked the video. I changed the names to viewers on the channel who volunteered. :)
To be honest, I have never been a fan of low level tactical games.
This one seems to be too pat. Like I said before the Germans just seem to be targets.
If they historically ran into a brick wall then the situation does not seem the best to base a game on. Play balance, even in solo games should be there to make it a tense experience.
I think if you've never been a fan of tactical games, this is most likely not a game you'd enjoy, for sure. It's most definitely a tactical game. :)
