- In this video, I’m going to show you how I removed the locking mechanism on the 2021 Lollapalooza wristband. They’ve made a couple of changes to the wristband this year, making it slightly more difficult to tamper with.
When you twist the blue plastic piece, the teeth inside don't rotate. Also, there are now two sets of teeth instead of one.
If you have relatively small wrists, you could just avoid tightening the wristband and you should still be able to slide the wristband off.

I love this! I like keeping festival bands as souvenirs and what a save this video is, I just went to Aftershock Festival and Area 15 and they both gave me these hand cuff style sinchers.
I couldn’t get it to work. I think the teeth punctured the scotch tape. Maybe use packing plastic tape instead? My workaround was to use a screwdriver to pop out the two interior wheels with the pins. Then I slid it in but it’s loose so you can tape the end or glue it. My background story: Brought a girl back to my place. I thought she liked me. I always manage to take off the wristband at night. She was gone in the morning with the band. Plus, no action for me. Luckily a friend was leaving and gave me her band. Way too tight. Hence the need to take the steps above. If anyone sees a 30ish blond named Anna at Bonnaroo, don’t let her into your room. Yes, I’m an imbecile.

Help! My ex tightened it all the way and I can't even get tape or a straw around the upper part of it because there is no space left. D: idk what to do.
I know this is an old post but I wanted to add my fix for anyone that may see this in the future, seems this is a common problem. I was ignorant to this design, so i messed with the wristband not knowing it won't loosen back up. I tried the straw trick but no luck as it was almost as tight as it would go down and a straw wouldn't fit. So I ended up clamping it down in my vice in my garage and twisting the wristband as much as it would go. I then used some channel lock pliers to pinch the locking piece to get the teeth to let go a little bit and at the same time work it down the wristband. It chewed up the cloth a little bit but it's fine.
If this doesnt work try using s small pear of pliers that can fit between the plastic and the cloth so that it crunches down on the teeth and covers them up. Works best when pliers go all the way through the plastic piece providing a smooth surface for the band to slide out on
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks! This definitely works if the band is off your wrist and you've cinched it down too small to put it on. If it's on your wrist too tight to take it off then I think you'll have to cut it

@@likepie222 That's probably true for some types of bands. The one I had was just a fabric band that ran through the two slots on the actual hard plastic ticket. Seems as long as the plastic ticket isn't damaged then it would still be able to be scanned regardless of the fabric being cut. The part with the teeth accidentally got cinched too tight while I had it off and I couldn't put it back on. The tape trick worked perfectly. I was just pointing out that if it got cinched down too tight while I was wearing it, then there would not be room to put the tape on like in the first part of the trick. I can't think of any other way to loosen it other than cutting the band in that case.

2022: my wrist band from Lolla Paris was tight. I lay the plastic piece on wood, took a heavy hammer and hit it two three times from the narrow and the flat side (oval shape); the plastic peace broke of (I didn't want to keep that part); I can keep my lolla wrist band without cutting it ;)
Any tips fpr us idiots that have allready put the wrist band on prior to doing this?

Put a plástica bag between the wristband and your skin and then pull out the wrist from your wrist and it will slide through your hand doesn’t matter how tight it is I had the same problem

know what's funny about this video? I worked the vip at governors ball and needed tape for a quick fix behind the bar and it took and hour to get someone to give me clear tape and they wanted to watch what I was going to do with it, it all makes sense now

Ima be honest, I tried the method in the video with moderate sucess (was able to get the teeth around the taped portion of the band pretty well, but was struggling to tape the rest of the band in a way where the teeth wouldn't catch the edge of the tape)....before seeing this comment and getting my dremel. 10/10 comment, lol
I made a mistake with playing with my wrist band but I’m glad I didn’t have mine on. But I tried his method and it didn’t work so I made it even smaller. So I was worried but (I came with an idea, I could put a thin but thick plastic bag in front of the wrist band BUT with tape then pull on the teeth downward) and it [worked] but I didn’t have that tool. (So I thought let me use the front of a pen) and it worked!!

Anyone know how to deal with those fasteners that have teeth inside that spin separately from the outer casing??? I accidentally tightened my ezoo band for Saturday before opening the app jus to find out I shouldn’t put it on till the day of

My kid found my wristband for a festival in 2 weeks, I was able to push her thumb out and get it off that way. But now the band won't fit on my wrist, have kids they say... it'll be fun they said... who tf is they?! They need their butt kicked.
confirmed this DOES work for Outside Lands 2021- use straw on the LOOP side of the teeth lock
did you use tape and a straw? or was just the straw enough?
@@JumpyGiraffehey man so after you cut the straw, then AGAIN in half, the straw closes enough on its own around the cloth so you dont rly need the tape. I should note that I tried using the clear packaging tape first before the straw technique.

I just used my molers, bit, rotated and repeated until all the inside teeth broke (not my teeth 😅) inside the plastic, and had it off in 3 minutes.

Can anyone confirm from past years if the security at check-in inspects for tampering of the wristbands?
I’m wondering this too. This method would totally work, but I heard they tighten wristbands at the gates. Wouldn’t they feel it sliding around too easily / loosely and see it’s obviously been messed with? Ooor ... do they just move right along 😬 hmmm at this point there may only be one way to find out
It depends on what time of day you go, when it’s quite busy they don’t bother checking, but if it’s not busy, they often do check. The years I’ve gone, they’ve never checked if it was tampered with but every time they made me flip my wrist to scan in, and they look while doing this. I think this year with COVID, they might limit touching people.

I spent like 400 for mine and I'm definitely not going to tamper with it like this. I would hate to screw something up and then just not be able to enter because it doesn't work idk . Besides I baught it for me to use I don't plan on taking it off. But interesting video
The card that came with it usually has a link to buy a replacement band (around 20 bucks)

I put my wristband on too early. I bought it resale so it didn’t come with any warnings about it being a non removable wristband. I wanna remove it so I don’t have to wear it for a week straight before the festival. Im having trouble removing this🥺

My sister tightened hers for no reason when we were gonna pass it back n forth 😩🥺🙄 Theoretically, after you do this, and now the blue slider piece is loose ... can you just put the 2 concentric sets of teeth back into the blue piece? This would mean you could “lock” and “unlock” it onto your wrist as a sort of reset button, which would help all of us lol 😭
(Also, anyone know if they even tighten wristbands at the gate or check them beyond scanning??)
