I'm the original owner of my 2006 TSX, and watching your video is the first time that I realized that there is an extra notch on the hood support to allow for further opening. Doh! Only took me 16 years. Thanks for that nugget of knowledge.
Couldn’t find a thorough video on my RSX power steering pump replacement but this video explained everything that everyone else didn’t. Thanks you so much!
I honestly feel like I could do this myself without my husband thanks to your video. Thank you so much! I will be coming back to your playlist if I run into any other problems!
Swapped in a new pump yesterday and your video was a big help for seeing a way to lever the tensioner pulley with the two-wrench trick! Note: when you bolt the low pressure connector on, there is a red rubber o-ring that needs to be put on the black plastic connector before you bolt it on with the single 10mm bolt.
BRO! Thank you! My alternator just went out and my power steering pump is also leaking. I'm going to replace both thanks to your clear instructions. Keep up the good content.
Great video! For any new viewers it's helpful to know that you can also apply a vacuum pump to the adjacent power steering fluid reservoir to aid in removing air from the circuit that was introduced when you removed the hoses from the old pump as well as the new pump being basically empty while you move the steering wheel from side to side with the motor off. That's much easier to do if you have the front end on jack stands first. You can keep vacuum applied as you start the engine and continue to move the steering wheel from full left to full right and repeat several times. You can buy those vacuum pumps at any retail autoparts store (i.e. Autozone, Advanced Auto, PepBoys, etc.) Also, it's not a bad idea to add some fluid to the high pressure side of the pump just before you reconnect that line.
Awesome video, using 2 wrenches was a very cool tip I didn't know about. Local import dealer wanted $1500 to replace. Cost me about $70 for the pump and $9 for a bottle of fluid. Thx!!
this man just taught how to do a 500 dollar job in just 4 minutes using 2 Wrench 🙏🏽 dude your awesome! i have the exact car and literally changed alternator twice
Thank you for this. My slow leak has made quite a mess of that area on my car, but I feel much more confident about this now. I'm going to try changing mine, and I'm now a subscriber. Thank you, mine is an '06, MT, with 245K miles. Thanks again!
I am happy to report I successfully changed my p.s. pump. Went as simply as you made it look. Aftermarket pump has a whine the OEM didn't have, but a small price to pay for no more leak
Thanx for the upload. The process was the same with my RSX. Its a good thing the K series are so much alike. This really helped. You should try to include torque specs in future DIY vids. Thanx again. Keep it up👍
Solid how-to vid. I'll probably end up replacing the high and low pressure lines when I do this. Way easier than an alternator on this car. Do you have a how-to for rack and pinion replacement by lowering the subframe method? ;) Thanks for the how-to, you've helped many people!
U da man!!! I pulled pump out with the pulley on it and dint know how to get the pulley off. I reinstall the old pump and did it your way and bingo!!!!!
Gotta do this and the rack and pinion when they come in the next few days. I contacted my Acura dealership just curious to see prices. That little bitty power steering pump he’s holding in hand is $1,100 at Acura! The rack and pinion is $1,400!! I paid $110 for the pump and about $300 for the rack from Rockauto.
Serpentine belt came off the lady’s Acura tsx, really hoping it’s not a seized power steering that launched the belt right off, Checking it out tomorrow wish me luck. Nice video
I would GREATLY aporeciate a reply if possible. We followed your amazing video and replaced the pump- no problem! However when we refilled the reservoir, left the cap off & turned on the car so any air bubbles could come out- all the fluid immediately started draining out from SOMEWHERE but we can't determind where. Do you have any ideas/suggestions please?
Just bought my wife an artic blue one with 205k on original tranny and motor, first start always here a small winey noise then as it warms up it goes away, other than that seems like only basic problem that the k24 had. Love the car best 3k I ever spent!
Is this Car Mechanic Simulator? Lol. I have to do this on my 06 TSX this weekend and replace the serpentine belt that has power steering fluid all over it. Thank for the great vid, nice music!
Hey, thanks for the helpful video! I was wondering if you knew whether the bolts on the pump needed threadlocker before reinstalling? I can't find any info on this.
Very good video. Unfortunately, my TSX PS pulley just did not want to come off. I tried your technique but the nut had seized so tightly that the inner edges of the pulley were getting dented instead of the nut breaking. I used PB blast penetrating oil too. But just couldn't get it out with risking further damage to the pulley. In such cases it's worth noting that an impact gun may be necessary. Otherwise the rest of the project was exactly as described.
While parked with engine in, rotate steering wheel fully clockwise and counterclockwise repetitively and fill up power steering fluid as necessary until air pockets are removed.
Any idea where the transmission clutch pressure switch is located and how to replace them on ‘05 TSX? Acura dealer recommended I change the 3rd AT clutch pressure switch. Thank you for this video.
this was a great step by step video. i’m trying to learn about this stuff myself and this helped a lot! i have an 2008 acura tsx and the steering has always felt stiff and hard to turn. the fluid was replaced, but could replacing the power steering system like you just did overall be a fix for that? appreciate your feedback!
This video is for the usdm tsx correct so if I were to do this for a jdm k24a I would start with changing the water pump housing right? And what would be everything I may need to know for my power steering
Thank you for that video. Just a stupid question you’re referring it as a power steering unit and that means the same thing as a power steering pump is that correct? Also, I was wondering if you have a video on how to replace rear and front motor mounts on the same type of vehicle Acura TSX 2004 would you let me know thank you🙏
Great Video. Very helpful for my 07 TSX Power Steering Pump Replacement. I know this video is over 2 years old but thought I would take a shot at a Hail Mary for some advice or support. After I completed my install it felt as if my power steering was completely disabled and I was spilling power steering fluid when rotating the steering wheel. Any suggestions?
@@GTContent Thanks so much for the response. Will see what I can do about the air and send you and update. Thanks again for all the help and the great videos.Stay Safe!
Soooooo do you still have this car cuz I know you to make more videos lol where dose the pump leak from mines leaking n I wanna delete the power steering is that possible? (2024 here )
Man thank you for this! I have a tendency to strip the bolt head on the tensioner using two wrenches like you did. I'm tempted to grab a tensioner/serpentine belt toolkit since my breaker bar is too large to use in that tight area. Is that advisable?
Some wrenches are worn or have low tolerances which tend to strip the bolt. If the bolt is stripped, I'd try using a decent sized vice grip to clamp it down really good and bang it with a hammer. Spray with lube and let it sit over night first.
Great video I replaced the power steering pump But I'm afraid the squealing noise on my acura is still there. It sounds like it got worse any ideas what it could be?
Getting the belt off and on was a little tricky. Make sure the belt is properly seated on ALL pulleys before starting the car. Took me 45 minutes to do this. Such as easy job compared to replacing the power steering pump on my 2001 Olds Silhouette.
Hey GT Content, I got a TSX exactly like yours, but just in white. Is it normal when turning the steering wheel at a stop the engine idle increases by about 200 rpm? I already flushed the system out and replaced the belt/tensioner and it still revs up when I slightly turn the wheel. The PSP is original and the car has 107K miles. Is this normal or is my pump going out? It isn't making any other strange noises.

Need some help with my ‘05 TSX. I have a very slow power steering fluid leak somewhere, and very sporadically I’ve been adding fluid back, but even at proper level the power steering cuts out occasionally, and I’ve even experienced what actually feels like power “resistance” to turning the steering wheel. (Admittedly I think I added fluid a bit over the top line last time.) Does this seem like a pump issue? (Someone is telling me it is, but I think they’re saying it because it was their problem and a new pump fixed it for them.)
I’ve replaced the PSP before successfully but this one is giving me a real hard time. I’ve replaced the pump with OEM o rings, Honda fluid, & a new reservoir, STILL WHINES along with foamy fluid & sometimes/randomly is hard to turn. I think my power steering rack is bad, lots of residue around the boots & one boot is completely ripped open. Do you think air is getting in the system through the PSR?
Just replaced our power steering pump last night. Because of this video I was able to knock it out in about an hour (including the 2nd trip to the auto parts store to get a new socket for my impact wrench to get off a stripped bold). Super easy.
