I live in western Pennsylvania, and what strikes me so vividly about Hunters in the Snow is that this could almost be a contemporary scene from western PA in the present on a snowy winter day. I'm actually blown away that ice hockey and curling existed in 1565. I always thought ice hockey was a Canadian invention and was maybe 100 years old or so. This painting tells me that not really much has changed in 500 years. Life goes on. Or as the Talking Heads once sang, "Same as it ever was...".
I just saw this beautiful work in Vienna. And I loved it! All the details are delightful. I have one question, what’s the deal with that man at the bottom right corner who seems to be fighting a tree? I’ve been trying to find some explanation.
I'm sorry for my bad english. It was a very good review. May I know the name of the song playing at 07:15? PS: I saw this picture in the movie Solaris. It piqued my interest.
It’s not all peace. There is a house burning in the background ( to the left of the church) - there’s fire coming out of the chimney. Also, the guys are close to torching the inn- the flames are just at the door and the side wind is not helping.
Thanks for watching! Comment below your thoughts or questions about Hunters in the Snow.
You begin talking religious symbols, even focus on a male and female face But where is those symbols .? ?
This video gave me goose bumps. Extremely well done! Thank you!
