SPOILERS AHEAD As soon as Voldemort takes over, the Security guards at Gringotts & the ministry wear uniforms that look a whole lot like the SA uniforms in the 3rd Reich, Albert Runcorn (the guy whose identity Harry assumes with the polyjuice potion in the seventh movie) rocks what resembles an SS-Officers coat. Monuments like the one in the ministry could be seen in Berlin (with Jews instead of muggles) and the flyers that the ministry prints have a layout & look similar to anti-jewish propaganda flyers

The wizarding world is just as dark as the real world. They can fix problems we could never do but they can also create problems we can’t. Harry tries to escape to this world that he thinks is safe, but it isn’t.
All Voldemort cared about was power and dominion - I think he used muggles as a way of galvanizing support on his behalf, much like how Hitler used Jews as a way of drawing upon the rampant antisemitism in Germany at the time. He had no love for muggles, but I always thought he cared much more about controlling everyone and everything, muggles and wizards alike.
Julian Belkin he wanted the wizards to rule over the muggles and use their powers against them. I don’t think he wanted to rule both of them. I think he just wanted to rule the wizards and kill most of if not all muggles. Like in the 6th and 7th book more and more muggles are getting killed by the deatheaters. So if he would have killed Harry I think it would just get way worse.

In the books it was actually hermione who didn’t understand what the term mudblood meant, being muggleborn, and actually Ron who explains it to them. That’s also the same with the whole parsletongue stuff and hearing voices, it’s actually Ron who explains it all. I’m just being picky 😂

Phoenix tears are an antidote to basilisk venom but it's not immune to the basilisk's gaze. If it looked a basilisk in the eye it would simply burst into flames and be reborn from the ashes just like every other time it dies.

It's entirely possible that he is able to firm the Basilisk's gaze as well. But I think, from what we do know about phoenixes in Harry Potter, that something would have to happen -- like the Basilisk's stare would have to kill Fawkes and Fawkes would have to regenerate. Personally, because Fawkes is never a Phoenix chick in the Chamber of Secrets, even after encountering the Basilisk, I think he never directly made eye contact with the Basilisk and, therefore, was never at risk for death or regeneration
Andrew Wright I was talking about parents in general. But I think Muggle parents could get to Hogwarts by crossing the magical barrier at Platform 9 3/4. Loving your reactions! You can see how much you love the movies. There's no confirmed answer as to how Nearly Headless Nick was revived but the most logical answer is that it is through boiling and vapours using the potion. When he was petrified, it states in the books that Professor McGonagall conjured up a fan and ordered one of the pupils to fan Nick up to the hospital wing. Ghosts can't consume liquids or solids but because the fan worked vapours probably do too. And yeah, I believe others have already answered that parents of muggleborns can enter the wizarding world. Also, there is logic to everything really. The car scene. It doesn't happen in the books. It was just added in for the movie to make things more dramatic. The book has them nearly hit by the train but Harry doesn't fall out of the car. The sword of Godrick Gryffindor appears to 'true Gryffindors' (basically brave worthy members of the house in times of crises). The hat was the sorting hat (also formerly Godrick Gryffindor's hat). They didn't show it but there's a really funny scene where when Harry and Ron arrive at the school they look through the window of the Great Hall during the feast and notice that Snape is missing. They're wondering where Snape is, discussing if he was sacked or something else horrible happened to him only for a voice to reply "or maybe he's standing behind you" and it's Snape. Harry and Ron definitely had the moment 'this is the moment we realised we fucked up' Something that I don't like that isn't mentioned in the movies is that the reason Salazar Slytherin didn't want Muggleborns attending Hogwarts was because during that time in the world (the Middle Ages) Muggles were attacking wizards and witches and burning them alive. This was the reason and time magic was also made a secret. To protect wizards. (Of course, the wizards would not actually burn because they would use magic to prevent that. They would just pretend to scream and die and then use magic to disappear and reappear somewhere else. There was one witch who loved getting 'burnt alive' that she would purposely allow herself to be captured. She was burnt 47 times or something. She was called Wendelin the Weirdo). Slytherin therefore distrusted Muggles and did not want the wizarding children to be in danger. It was later on that Voldemort and other's twisted Slytherin's beliefs and made it that 'he hated muggleborns and thought they were unworthy.' Burning 'witches' was something that happened in real life during the Middle Ages. Men would often accuse women they didn't like of being witches and they were burnt. Typical really.

Oh and Dobby has to punish himself because that’s basically part of the house-elf magic. House-elves are really powerful (sometimes even more powerful than wizards) but part of their magic is their slavery to one magic family. They basically can’t use their magic against them or if they are not allowed to. They must do what their master tells them to and if they disobey or talk bad about them, like dobby did, they have to punish themselves. In fact there are also House-elves in Hogwarts who make the food, Dumbledore lets appear when they eat and clean the rooms but they are treated way better and even get payed or free days, if they ask Dumbledore.

The Spider scene scared the crap out of me when i first saw it, it was in Cinema O-O I was terrify, hide my face with my arms and got shivers; it was that good! This part could been perfect in a horor movie; the tension was huge, the visuals and the music were creepy; it's amazing! Harry was so lucky to find the sword and been helped by the Phenix. If they weren't there, the Basilic would killed him! He couldn't use defensive spells, guess the kid didn't know any or else he'll use them. Protecto is a good one, always works :)

True. While places like the Ministry and Hogwarts have Muggle repelling charms on them I don’t believe that’s the case with Diagon Alley. Muggles can’t see the pub (Leaky Cauldron) and wouldn’t be able to open the brick wall entrance even if they were standing in front of it. A Muggle would need someone magical, like their child (Hermione), to lead them to it. There are also charms that hide it from the air and such.
You really should watch these movies with the AirPods on both ears because the soundtracks are just amazing and get better and better each movie and you can really get into the atmosphere of the movie. Just a technical advise lol 😆
About your question in 33:37, I'm under the impression that Nearly-headless Nick didn't get really petrified. He is already dead, so he couldn't die from looking the basilisk in the eyes, he just went into some sort of shock for a time.

Btw for anyone who was wondering the same thing Phoenixs have been stated to be the only known magical creature in the Harry Potter books to be immune to the deadly gaze of a Basilisk. Also because the spell to breed basilisk involves hatching a chicken egg underneath a toad a rooster's crow can be fatal to a basilisk.

My understanding was that muggle parents of witches/wizards are sometimes allowed into otherwise witch/wizard only areas (usually they need a witch/wizard to escort them through magical barriers and the like though) so that they can shop for school supplies with their kid(s) or in some cases attend school events and such. And i dont really recall why fawkes wasnt effected by the basilisk but im guessing it has something to do with pheonix being basically immortal and very powerful creatures. Thanks for sharing this video, it was a lot of fun to watch. I love watching these movies with people who havent seen them before and with people who love them so its great to watch the two of you. This series has helped me through some rough times in my life and its always nice to see other people enjoy it also.

When I was about 4 this movie came out in theaters, and when I was 5 I begged my parents to buy the VHS, it's one of my earliest memories. Needless to say, I wasn't expecting the giant spiders :') I'm fine with most bugs, I also really like reptiles, snakes and rodents, so I used to joke that all of my evolutionary fear simply got directed at spiders, but it actually took me a few years to realize that this movie was honestly the most probable cause of that phobia xD I still watched and rewatched this movie more than any of the others, simply because it was the only HP VHS I had, so even though it's not my favorite, it still feels the most nostalgic ^^

The thing about Muggles being allowed into the magic world is as following: Hermoine is a witch so her parents know about the magical world after she got invited to Hogwarts. At that point they can interact with the magical world because they are allowed to know about it as they are close family to a witch/wizard. That's why Petunia was allowed to know about magic as well since her sister was a witch.

Youre completely correct as some things when they have magic don't my require logic and they won't tell you the whole physics of a flying car and being an aerospace engineer I'll solve some of your doubts actually at the particular angle the wind crossing us not only gives the drag that acts aa resistance but also gives lift and performing a roll increases that lift . Ron just held the hand lifter with all the force he could and the speed at which they were moving had a high angle of attack to the wind direction which enabled for Harry to have a wind lift and the car roll increases it without any increased drag against the wind .

I think how Sir Nicolas got unpetrified, either it wore off because technically he wasnt petrified because he got the full effect of seeing the eyes OR the potion was more of a spray on instead of ingestion.
The way Dumbledore looks directly at Harry and Ron at 19:35 gives me chills every time. The first two movies are my favorites becuase of Richard Harris and Christopher Columbus. Michael Gambon did a great work besides the fourth movie, but I will always love Harris version much better. I've also learn to love the third movie due to the camerawork. The first three are those which is the closest to the books which is not the case at all in the fourth movie. The rest are good but I still wanted a different battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort, in the books Dumbledore hasen't have any problems with Voldemort's spells, in the movies it feels like Voldemort had the upper hand all the time. And for the sixth movie I had wished they could skip all the romantic drama and film the first battle of hogwarts after Dumbledore's death insteed. After all, the Harry Potter series has infected me in my childhood becuase I grewed up seeing and reeding them. I must say that I like your reactions, I'm almost jealous that you have such a beautiful partner in Monica. I hope you will live happy and lovely together!
Yeah the first two films, although solid and do a good job of introducing you to the world of Harry Potter, they aren't the best and are aimed more towards the younger audience. Prisoner of Azkaban is where it starts getting serious and become much better films.

As soon as Voldemort takes over, the Security guards at Gringotts & the ministry wear uniforms that look a whole lot like the SA uniforms in the 3rd Reich, Albert Runcorn (the guy whose identity Harry assumes with the polyjuice potion in the seventh movie) rocks what resembles an SS-Officers coat. Monuments like the one in the ministry could be seen in Berlin (with Jews instead of muggles) and the flyers that the ministry prints have a layout & look similar to anti-jewish propaganda flyers

The wizarding world is just as dark as the real world. They can fix problems we could never do but they can also create problems we can’t. Harry tries to escape to this world that he thinks is safe, but it isn’t.
All Voldemort cared about was power and dominion - I think he used muggles as a way of galvanizing support on his behalf, much like how Hitler used Jews as a way of drawing upon the rampant antisemitism in Germany at the time. He had no love for muggles, but I always thought he cared much more about controlling everyone and everything, muggles and wizards alike.
Julian Belkin he wanted the wizards to rule over the muggles and use their powers against them. I don’t think he wanted to rule both of them. I think he just wanted to rule the wizards and kill most of if not all muggles. Like in the 6th and 7th book more and more muggles are getting killed by the deatheaters. So if he would have killed Harry I think it would just get way worse.

It's entirely possible that he is able to firm the Basilisk's gaze as well. But I think, from what we do know about phoenixes in Harry Potter, that something would have to happen -- like the Basilisk's stare would have to kill Fawkes and Fawkes would have to regenerate. Personally, because Fawkes is never a Phoenix chick in the Chamber of Secrets, even after encountering the Basilisk, I think he never directly made eye contact with the Basilisk and, therefore, was never at risk for death or regeneration

There's no confirmed answer as to how Nearly Headless Nick was revived but the most logical answer is that it is through boiling and vapours using the potion. When he was petrified, it states in the books that Professor McGonagall conjured up a fan and ordered one of the pupils to fan Nick up to the hospital wing. Ghosts can't consume liquids or solids but because the fan worked vapours probably do too.
And yeah, I believe others have already answered that parents of muggleborns can enter the wizarding world.
Also, there is logic to everything really. The car scene. It doesn't happen in the books. It was just added in for the movie to make things more dramatic. The book has them nearly hit by the train but Harry doesn't fall out of the car.
The sword of Godrick Gryffindor appears to 'true Gryffindors' (basically brave worthy members of the house in times of crises). The hat was the sorting hat (also formerly Godrick Gryffindor's hat).
They didn't show it but there's a really funny scene where when Harry and Ron arrive at the school they look through the window of the Great Hall during the feast and notice that Snape is missing. They're wondering where Snape is, discussing if he was sacked or something else horrible happened to him only for a voice to reply "or maybe he's standing behind you" and it's Snape. Harry and Ron definitely had the moment 'this is the moment we realised we fucked up'
Something that I don't like that isn't mentioned in the movies is that the reason Salazar Slytherin didn't want Muggleborns attending Hogwarts was because during that time in the world (the Middle Ages) Muggles were attacking wizards and witches and burning them alive. This was the reason and time magic was also made a secret. To protect wizards. (Of course, the wizards would not actually burn because they would use magic to prevent that. They would just pretend to scream and die and then use magic to disappear and reappear somewhere else. There was one witch who loved getting 'burnt alive' that she would purposely allow herself to be captured. She was burnt 47 times or something. She was called Wendelin the Weirdo). Slytherin therefore distrusted Muggles and did not want the wizarding children to be in danger. It was later on that Voldemort and other's twisted Slytherin's beliefs and made it that 'he hated muggleborns and thought they were unworthy.' Burning 'witches' was something that happened in real life during the Middle Ages. Men would often accuse women they didn't like of being witches and they were burnt. Typical really.

House-elves are really powerful (sometimes even more powerful than wizards) but part of their magic is their slavery to one magic family. They basically can’t use their magic against them or if they are not allowed to. They must do what their master tells them to and if they disobey or talk bad about them, like dobby did, they have to punish themselves. In fact there are also House-elves in Hogwarts who make the food, Dumbledore lets appear when they eat and clean the rooms but they are treated way better and even get payed or free days, if they ask Dumbledore.

Muggles are allowed to go only to Diagon Alley to help their children buy and prepare for Hogwarts.
True. While places like the Ministry and Hogwarts have Muggle repelling charms on them I don’t believe that’s the case with Diagon Alley. Muggles can’t see the pub (Leaky Cauldron) and wouldn’t be able to open the brick wall entrance even if they were standing in front of it. A Muggle would need someone magical, like their child (Hermione), to lead them to it. There are also charms that hide it from the air and such.
You really should watch these movies with the AirPods on both ears because the soundtracks are just amazing and get better and better each movie and you can really get into the atmosphere of the movie. Just a technical advise lol 😆
About your question in 33:37, I'm under the impression that Nearly-headless Nick didn't get really petrified. He is already dead, so he couldn't die from looking the basilisk in the eyes, he just went into some sort of shock for a time.

Btw for anyone who was wondering the same thing Phoenixs have been stated to be the only known magical creature in the Harry Potter books to be immune to the deadly gaze of a Basilisk.
Also because the spell to breed basilisk involves hatching a chicken egg underneath a toad a rooster's crow can be fatal to a basilisk.

My understanding was that muggle parents of witches/wizards are sometimes allowed into otherwise witch/wizard only areas (usually they need a witch/wizard to escort them through magical barriers and the like though) so that they can shop for school supplies with their kid(s) or in some cases attend school events and such.
And i dont really recall why fawkes wasnt effected by the basilisk but im guessing it has something to do with pheonix being basically immortal and very powerful creatures.

When I was about 4 this movie came out in theaters, and when I was 5 I begged my parents to buy the VHS, it's one of my earliest memories. Needless to say, I wasn't expecting the giant spiders :') I'm fine with most bugs, I also really like reptiles, snakes and rodents, so I used to joke that all of my evolutionary fear simply got directed at spiders, but it actually took me a few years to realize that this movie was honestly the most probable cause of that phobia xD I still watched and rewatched this movie more than any of the others, simply because it was the only HP VHS I had, so even though it's not my favorite, it still feels the most nostalgic ^^

The thing about Muggles being allowed into the magic world is as following: Hermoine is a witch so her parents know about the magical world after she got invited to Hogwarts. At that point they can interact with the magical world because they are allowed to know about it as they are close family to a witch/wizard. That's why Petunia was allowed to know about magic as well since her sister was a witch.

So he found that old car and did magic on it to use. Thats why the muggle car has little personality😅
2nd movie: Hands down, Lockheart is my least favorite character in Harry Potter.
5th movie: Okay. Lockheart's now my second least favorite character in Harry Potter.
Great video once again from you two! Slowly but surely your girlfriend will become a potterhead lol. I think next film is where she'll get hooked. The performances from the actors for Sirius, Remus, and Snape really elevate it as much as the new direction the movies took. Not to mention the final third of Prisoner of Azkaban is probably one of the top moments of the entire franchise. I appreciate how you explain things and yet know when to say you aren't sure of something instead of trying to make something up to save face or other. Youre completely correct as some things when they have magic don't my require logic and they won't tell you the whole physics of a flying car and being an aerospace engineer I'll solve some of your doubts actually at the particular angle the wind crossing us not only gives the drag that acts aa resistance but also gives lift and performing a roll increases that lift . Ron just held the hand lifter with all the force he could and the speed at which they were moving had a high angle of attack to the wind direction which enabled for Harry to have a wind lift and the car roll increases it without any increased drag against the wind .

I don’t understand why Chamber of Secrets is one of the least liked movie and book. It’s one of my favorites.

I think how Sir Nicolas got unpetrified, either it wore off because technically he wasnt petrified because he got the full effect of seeing the eyes OR the potion was more of a spray on instead of ingestion.
The way Dumbledore looks directly at Harry and Ron at 19:35 gives me chills every time. The first two movies are my favorites becuase of Richard Harris and Christopher Columbus. Michael Gambon did a great work besides the fourth movie, but I will always love Harris version much better.
I've also learn to love the third movie due to the camerawork.
The first three are those which is the closest to the books which is not the case at all in the fourth movie.
The rest are good but I still wanted a different battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort, in the books Dumbledore hasen't have any problems with Voldemort's spells, in the movies it feels like Voldemort had the upper hand all the time.
And for the sixth movie I had wished they could skip all the romantic drama and film the first battle of hogwarts after Dumbledore's death insteed.
After all, the Harry Potter series has infected me in my childhood becuase I grewed up seeing and reeding them.

Yeah the first two films, although solid and do a good job of introducing you to the world of Harry Potter, they aren't the best and are aimed more towards the younger audience. Prisoner of Azkaban is where it starts getting serious and become much better films.
That is funny. For me personally they are the best, with Chamber being top 1. I have never liked the rest. They... Just didn't do it for me. And some of them were really poor adaptations.
