      @@Privil3g3d Honestly depends on what you like and what example you have. If you like Earl and notice any names above give all the dudes I listed a listen. Listen to Billy Woods new project with Kenny Segal as it is the best hip hop album this year to me. If you like more weird soundcloud characters who do weirdo trap music or pop music maybe you'd like Spidergang, Eric North, JOSH MAISON, and others. A non Hip hop recommendation for weird alternative shit would be 6ix Impala with his new project that came out or Toro Y Moi with Soul Trash. You may like some of what I mentioned or non at all lol. That's the beauty of art.

  • @ChristalJ
    @ChristalJ 5 лет назад +21

    I’m loving the comments.
    Ever since SRS and When I Get Home dropped I’ve been on this wave of collage rap / jazz rap and the overall production and style of this camp that is Earl, MIKE, STOC, Mavi, Medhane etc. Words can’t explain how it’s influenced me and affirmed my artistry and just discovering this wave overall. I feel every bar and I fw the delivery. And the style is simplistic yet also complex.
    I fw this project. It’s what I expected. It seeming like some SRS throwaways is perfectly fine with me. Artist don’t have to drop projects that are extravagant. Some niggas just want some catharsis, to rap over some beats, and put it out. It’s not about the consumption and capitalizing and what’s gone “bump in the whip”

    • @Outliers4Life
      @Outliers4Life 5 лет назад

      It sucks there's a whole group of people who aren't on that wave then they hear Earl and it's the first time they are ever hearing a rap song with just a sample no drums. Sad really.

      Ryan Melton bro u realize other artist been making music with the same minimalist production before Earl was making SRS and FOC right, MIKE, Navy Blue, Mach Hommy, and plenty more. The style really getting popping on the east coast especially and niggas was on this before Earl was. That doesn’t mean anybody’s a wannabe it just means that more people are pushing that sound forward with minimalist production and mystic sometimes depressed lyricism. Mavi is cold.

    Yooooo, I'm so scared to watch this review, I feel like I'm the only person who loves this EP sometimes, loll. It took listening to it on repeat for a few hours, but COT DAMN if Earl ain't one of the better MCs out right now. His whole shit is brevity, and I hope people see it. He's actually murdering the shit with some of the shortest sentences out. That combined with the dizzying beats, and like that, he's gone. You've barely caught a glimpse of the kid, just like the cover art of Some Rap Songs. Also, watch recent live footage of him, like Camp Flog Gnaw. Dude's got craaaazy skill, and the songs hit waaay harder. He's in the pocket, just not the one's we're used to.

    I continually revisit this album. It’s ridiculously conceptual. Earl has said before, he’s been on a “brevity kick” for awhile. In fact, the more I replay it, the more it contextually makes sense both in Earl’s discography and Earl’s overall progression. The crazy pockets and rhyme patterns, along with flow on top of these beats (most he produced, and if not-frequent collaborators from Earl’s camp). It’s similar to SRS, but only to the point that you read the lyricism. I challenge all to do so.

  • @GRIFTYRODRIGUEZ
    @GRIFTYRODRIGUEZ 5 лет назад +9

    Earl, the young savior of lyric-starved rap fans everywhere, the golden boy of multisyllabic rhyme structures and double entendres, puts out an album that appears on the surface to be extremely low effort, marred by depression and drug use, off beat, and strange. Some previously unseen flaws in the golden artist begin to show their face. Hmm head of gold, chest of silver, arms of brass, legs of iron, feet of clay. Earl's still on point AF he just needs to work some shit out. I pray for the young man

    The biblical stuff is kinda right there in front plus he didn’t just randomly put a goat like animal on his cover art for no reason. I did like some rap songs better tho. But I like the direction he going in seems like it will manifest into something very special

    I fw this project a lot, to me it has a lot of replay value, but it's not like amazing or anything. EAST was kinda aight to me but I liked everything else. Tisk Tisk, OD, MTOMB, and El Toro Combo Meal were fire, and I fw 4N too but I felt like the beat drew on too long given how stripped back it was and how much longer it was than anything else on there

    Damn,nobody seems to like OD huh? I think that track he really comes out rapping and flowing so well. 4N just has a vibe and i love it, i think thats why its got an instrumental intro and outro. COMBO MEAL tho was Mavi GOING OFF and Earls verse sounded like an interesting take on a hook, I can't remember the last time he sounded that melodic.
