Fantastic. I have a white model with alpha spec which doesn’t work so the second gen mint bar. But my white white alpha does seem to fire though I haven’t done a film test. Would you say the white alpha is the better model to invest in than the white model 2 considering all the parameters one should consider?
I mean, they will perform basically the same If tripod socket, strap lugs and the ability to brag about relative obscurity are selling points, then go for the "alpha" spec
Great restoration as always. Very interesting with the PCB flash issue. Did they ever put that version in any black model 2’s or is white bodies only ? You never stop learning. Test and test and test again
This PCB variant was put into other cameras released around 1976. I've seen it in chrome and black cameras But this PCB is pretty much always found on these white alphas
Interesting. Thanks for that info. So utterly Polaroid crazy. The Mark 2 in Black I have just sent you was dated by serial number as 1976. I wonder …….
Jake, what is your Bluetooth range you normally get on your SX-70R boards? I’m only getting about 8-10 feet, my black pcb is from a batch earlier this year.
Seems to depend on the environment I was accidentally able to waste film in the next room by accidentally leaving the remote in my pocket and sitting in it lol
Hey Jake! Super quick question about one of these. I got a white one, like in the video, and 50% of my viewfinder is tinted yellow, or kinda sepia. That'd be fine, except it's the bottom half so making out the ranging guide is hard. I'm assuming this is the fault of something going wrong with the viewfinder mirror internally, as I can't spot it externally. Any ideas what it may be?
@@theinstantcameraguy makes sense. I'm in New Zealand, so one day when I get round to properly servicing one of the 5 cameras I've got, they'll be going straight to you. Your content has been super helpful for me, too, so thank you!
The white ones are so cool but seemingly all beat to crap in listings I've seen. My Black M2 isn't exactly "pristine", but I love the murdered out look it has.
@@theinstantcameraguy if the price is right, it could make a cool episode. Very satisfying to see the before and after. I posted on Reddit a picture of the Sonar that needs an i-Type mod and some fresh black leather skin. I'm asking if anyone knows the most true-to-original black leather and/or one that smells really good. It's the main hurdle before I send it off to you
@@seanconnors9912 Aki Asahi does do a flat black that looks pretty original But I much prefer his black crinkle emboss It's just... Better... Also you can't pay me enough to retrobrite an sx70 lol. Would take so damn long. So much would need to be taken apart from it

I wonder if the metallic body coating is acting like a faraday cage for the antenna.

that's hard to know for sure without seeing the camera in person
likely some aspect of it is dirty and needs a good clean

You can also use a hard plastic scraper on the crusty bits ^^
this is another valid technique

It's because the white gets dirty easily and the leatherette always crumbles to dust
Pls do about Polatronic's capacitor change
Mine is a yellow whale... Are you comfortable with retrobriting it? There is the submersion method, then there is the saran wrap goo massaging method.
I can retrobrite... But doing so on an sx70 would be a massive time consuming pain in the butt
So many metal parts would need removing
