The kids don't help. I saw a video about one older woman at a shelter. She seemed very nice and normal. No obvious mental problems. Someone asked her if she'd asked her grown children for help. She said she didn't want to burden them. She was homeless. Where did her children think she was? Where did they think she was living? My kids are the same way. Rarely come and have no clue. The last time I saw my daughter, she encouraged me to write a book. A book? I am on my hands and knees painting the baseboard of my spare bedroom so I can rent the space to survive. She has no idea.

I am a 67yr old woman. I was strong and powerful. I was even a firefighter and EMT in NY. I hiked and did skiing (both cross country and downhill) in my free time. At age 60 I developed Lupus and Sjgrens, then herniated discs and rheumatoid arthritis. Now I cant even walk or stand for more than two minutes due to such horrible back pain. You never know what someone is going through or going to go through. I never thought it would happen to me.

I think that this lady is paralyzed with fear and confusion and deserves many prayers and helping hands. The shock of the ill treatment toward Americans by fellow Americans is enough to cause that fear and confusion. It was a huge shock to me when I realized that a huge amount of the population of this country has no empathy, sympathy, or compassion toward the elderly and it is getting worse. Prayers for All, no matter their age or circumstances. Prayers for this lady to have the surgeries that she needs and for swift and complete healing. It is easier to move forward when you have good health. Thank you for your video.

Yes, Lee, most of us car/van dwellers are doing this lifestyle out of necessity, not for fun. We've helped our children, but due to divorce or distance, we get little to NO help from them. We are truly ISOLATED. I'm a city van dweller, due to work (61 yrs of age), in Nashville and have had snide remarks said to me, my van shot at 7 times, a 19-year-old hit my rear end. Churches that I've supported for years, in person and tv ministries, are absolutely USELESS. Samaritan's Purse helps rebuild people's homes, but what about those of us who haven't had a home since we were married?!! A 40 ft shipping container only costs $5-7k ! WE NEED to be able to put tiny homes on our own property!!!

I feel for this lady. I have tears in my eyes. I'm 68 and I'm married. My husband is 66. We are retired and have a nice home that's paid for. We have no debt. When I see what's happening to many elderly, I feel so blessed, and am so thankful for what I have. But this could happen to anyone. I hope this lady can find a good affordable place to live.😢

When I was homeless my cat and I stayed at a friend's barn with their horses. During rhat time i slept in my SUV and my cat would go out and go potty and run and do her thing then she would come into the truck at night by scratching at the door. She knew where i was, was home... The place to lay our heads. Love this cat of 18yrs.

People in America need to realize this an agenda. Private equity groups are buying up all housing and evicting everyone; especially targeting Seniors. A special focus on mobile home parks, including my own. We, however, are not taking it lying down, and scouting resources to prevent this from happening to us. At this point, where I live, all income restricted housing waiting lists are closed. What is happening is outrageous, and I wish I could help her. Quite sad.

I think the reason this is happening to elderly women is because we were raised to be helpers/ homemakers/ housewives. Not providers and self sufficient/ independent women. That never happened for me. At least for me my dad drilled it into my head to buy a home as early as I can. So I did. I feel for women like her.

I had a bunch of feelings watching this. I have lived in The Carolinas for almost 19 years. I love the Carolina's and the people here. Something horrific happened up in those mountains......nobody could have prepared for what happened there. People watched a wall of water take everything they had......their house, cars and even the land washed away......those that lived through it are traumatized. Lots of people lost many family and friends, and their bodies will never be found. Pure trauma. So the woman in this clip needs to be given some grace, she did not expect this to happen......nobody did. There are very few resources up in those mountains, and so much government red tape. The Amish came and build small houses for shelter....the government rejected them, because they don't meet code. It's frustrating. Thousands are living in tents and it's below freezing. So I have feelings and anger about it. A lot of them no longer have a car to live in, and they have small children.I hope in time this woman will see that she can live in a vehicle and she might just have a great life doing it. But right now she is devastated, and affected by this horrific event. I myself have always thought to myself......I need to prepare, because if my husband passes first I will be living in a vehicle. I watch your videos, Bob Wells, and plenty of others. I camp, etc. My mindset is different. I can poop in a vehicle, wash my hair in a vehicle, give myself a sponge bath, etc. because I am preparing for a scenario that might never happen, but if it does I will be ok. So thank you for your content. You are a very positive person. I hope the lady in the clip finds her way to Bob Wells videos, or yours. She is going to be ok.

😂😂😂 I lived in my truck for a year by taking the passenger front seats out and laying the backseat completely down flat and making my bed in the backseat.. I even heated my food. I put a little table in place of the passenger front seat that I could cook and eat from. I found some packets someone had left at a campsite, that open up and when you add water, it causes a chemical reaction when you put water and you can heat food in Them. I put in applications for all the low income apartments throughout the town and most of them had a very long waiting list. One of them was a little nicer than the others and the lady there said no there’s not gonna be anything available because we’re working off of a list from 2011 and 2012… and there is a long list before you. But I called every couple days just to see if anything has changed. The squeaky wheel gets the grease you know😄 then one day I said to the Lord, Jesus if there’s anyway I can have an apartment over there. Would you give it to me? A couple days later I got a phone call from the manager and she said… Do you still want an apartment over here? I said yes, she said come over and we’ll take care of the paperwork. Another woman that was supposed to take it backed out at the last minute and she moved me up in the line because I have disabilities… So I got into an apartment, that even has its own little backyard… Jesus gave it to me. I’ve been so thankful to have it. Talk to Jesus he will help you.❤️

I’m leaving in two months and she will be homeless again. Let’s hope by then, the hotels have been cleared out. I’m 66 also, living on a fixed income. The Government has proven it can solve homelessness…just not for Americans…only for illegals. My blood is boiling right now.

WAIT!!!! If she's already being pulled into the court system, she can use that to counter-sue the landlord not only for the black mold but also for her eviction notice. The court system can dismiss the eviction and order that the mold be fixed. I live in NYC..... judges will always side with the tenant. And I'll bet it's same for her. I'd fight this eviction all the way.... Forget being afraid ---- get angry and pushy. Make some noise! Call local tv and radio stations to get publicity ..... invite local politicians to take their microphone to a loud street protest & get this situation open to the public!

It’s time to be proactive. I saw this coming and moved into a van years ago. We need to learn to be less spoiled. Learn priorities. I have everything I need and nothing I don’t. I stopped getting manicures, $100 color and cuts, buying fancy clothes… and I love the freedom it brings!
But my fear now is that the lawmakers are changing regulations to end this lifestyle. 8 states currently are outlawing manufacturing and registering rv’s. Many other states have outlawed sleeping in a vehicle. Insurance companies are not insuring vans unless they are the $150k kind, yet insurance is required legally. How about some civil rights for the “houseless” Donald J. Trump? There’s millions of us out here and most are women!

Some women just are not tough. My mother and I were on our own since I was 5 1/2 . She died at 88, and I am your age now. So when I found out I was going to need to find a new place to live, I put my name on a list at a retirement community. It took 9 months to get my apt. I've been here 3 years now but if you live here you can't have any savings and if you get any money you have to spend it in 30 days or your rent goes up. So once you choose some place, there are repercussions from your choice. She didn't look like she had had to tough it out in the past. I'm glad she got some help. I'm glad you and I are tough, but some women have never had to be tough or adapt quickly. Thanks for the informative video.

But many said that they went from living in vehicles to being able to live in apartments with super cheap utilities and affordable groceries. Their lot in life was so improved that they say they are now happy and can't believe how their fortunes have completely turned. Please look into this!

She reached out to shelters and churches. Nothing. Fundings cut or she wasn’t abused victims. Scary what’s going on.

Please know that no third parties can have access to your retirement or disability payments, so stop paying the credit cards and all other 3rd party bills. Your SS is protected by state and federal laws. Even if there is a judgment against you, they can’t touch your money. UNLESS you have more than twice your monthly payment in your account. Do pay your car note and if it’s too much to handle, look into a financial hardship to lower your payments. If you’re able to get a modification, don’t be late on your payments because it voids out the modification contract. Use your money for your survival! They don’t give a shit about us, we need to not give a shit about them! Good luck sweetheart. There are A LOT of YOU out here. ❤❤

Oh my god. Everything you just said is so true and is hitting so close. I started van life over a year ago because I wanted to. But I have been living on a sailboat before and a tiny cabin in the Catskills before that. So basically a nomad from Germany since 1996. Last winter when I stayed in quartzsite I realized how many desperately poor people live out here. I was so shocked that I actually developed a depression and didn’t want to travel anymore. So I dugin for the summer in Belmont. I started working out in the woods and lost lots of weight and finally started feeling better mentally. I’m now back in quartzsite and viewing this whole human tragedy from a different perspective. I’m not out here anymore for fun and wanderlust but because I’m officially homeless in a van. The biggest problem I have now is that I started to love this lifestyle. With all its loneliness and desperation. I can’t judge that lady in the video. She lived in her little bubble that just popped. She will have a very, very tough time adjusting to the new reality.

At 1:10 minutes she says “The tiny studio apartment that I’ve got right now was damaged “. Details folks ! I see this in many videos for example, in the comments, where people just don’t pay enough attention to the details for proper context of the story!
It sucks but I’ve been living in a mold infested HUD apartment going on 20 years now. What is messing her up is an eviction notice…. Mold is dangerous and unpleasant. I have agoraphobia, problems leaving the house, so moving is doubly difficult. First going out, finding apartments etc. then actually moving…. I just can’t. I wash the walls, furniture and everything I can with White Vinegar. I kills mold because it’s the wrong Ph level. Bleach won’t kill mold, it only grows back. I learned the hard way. It took me 6 months researching to find out that mold grows roots into organic things, wood etc. When you use bleach, it’s like cutting the grass, it just grows back.
(I live in a Florida Senior Citizens HUD apartment. I’ve had 7 major mold incidents over 19 yrs. Examples: 1) My wall ac drip pan rusted leaking into the foundation. They ripped out the wall to fix. 2) At the same time, my coat closet was black with mold because the lady’s tub above me was leaking. 3) Due to defective Chinese products, my kitchen faucet was leaking into a bucket I stored below the sink, without me knowing. 4) My bathroom ceiling had mold and leaks from bathroom above me. The water eats copper pipes in Florida continuously, you fix it then 10 years later it happens again. 4) Ac pan gets dirty, gunk clogs the drainage hole, water leaks all over floor. This happens regularly, yearly if not twice yearly. Worst is when happens on Friday night or Saturday, your mopping floors and dumping pan you placed to catch overflow all weekend. I didn’t notice immediately, it got my book cases wet.. 5) the kitchen faucet broke again Moen faucets both times. 6) My coat closet is black with mold now again, same tub leak again 7). My bathroom ceiling was just leaking over my toilet, mold on ceiling.
Especially tragic is lazy work ethics, when office management doesn’t care or doesn’t like you. When Maintenance men avoid work as much as possible. Bad morals is killing our country same as Captain Ice Cream. It matters right down to everyday people ! You can’t just blame the big wigs !
I had 15 bookcases full of molding books. I had to throw out the “fiberboard bookcases too, anything unpainted molded ! The sides and back of shelves etc. It’s all drudge work! I bought a UVC Light bulb to kill mold, was able to save only a few books with a lot of work. Wiping down with paper towel and vinegar, using new spot on paper towel each wipe to not spread mold spores, all sides, let dry. Turn all sides under UVC light all angles, open covers etc for 5 minutes each side.
Mikaela Peterson daughter of Jordon Peterson attributes her health problems to mold in their home in Canada. The whole family had health problems there. Mikaela even said in a video earlier in 2024, when her symptoms returned, that her apt in America has mold. (It kills gut bacteria or something, you get digestive problems too.)
I’ve always had a problem with ignorant people not knowing what is happening to so many. I’m 66 the same age as the grey haired woman in apt. Actually a lot of people in my age group were homeless. The older boomers grew up with slogans such as A house and 2 cars for every family.. So generally older boomers were never homeless except for the RV lady and those she speaks of. During the 60s I saw a lot of middle class people not understanding or oblivious somehow… “I worked for mine, get a job, get it yourself.” Okay, but that doesn’t entitle you to be oblivious or hard hearted to those that can’t. I actually resented that, blue collar people that said that.
Anyway, we’re all hurting in some kinda way. We need to pull together, roll up our sleeves, get some hard work done. We need to restore morals, work ethic etc. Blessings all

I ended up losing my house 3 times before i absolutely couldn't save it again. I got food from the pantries, every dime i made had gone to survival. If you're going through tribulations percivere my friends. Everyone suffers at some point. ❤ to everyone and 🙏 for anyone else.

I know a woman that worked in her husband's office for many, many years without getting formally paid, meaning she had no social security. Then they divorced. She did work after the divorce, but didn't have much social security. She really struggled

I think sadly one thing is because the family has been so messed up. That the women who grew up raising their children that didn't work and stuff kids nowadays have forgotten the responsibility of they're supposed to take care of their parents when the parents get older. It's just like once they're out of the house doing their own thing they don't care about the parents anymore. In some cultures you are responsible for your parents. Unfortunately we have fallen away from from that. Which is really sad.

I thought that the woman said she was living in a studio apartment -- not that she is living in a home that she owns. What I heard from the clip was that her studio apartment has developed black mold due to Hurricane Helene. She probably complained to her landlord who was not prepared (or willing) to remediate the black mold. If the landlord allowed her to continue to live in the apartment she could go on to sue him for damages that she may claim to have incurred due to the black mold. Landlord is in "CMA" mode.

She's living in an apartment . I have been homeless 3 times and fear being homeless again now this winter. I'm a disabled senior and veteran. I have no car or working refrigerator in my apartment. Housing Authority and the management company refuse to do anything. I'm turning 73 in a few weeks. Right now I'm sick and have no doctor, hard of hearing and need glasses and dentures. Still have camping gear yet no way to carry them. Camping isn't allowed in my county. It's called depopulation by the present government

I had a friend in Rawlings Wyoming whose husband died of cancer she sold theIr house collected on his life insurance and she was really rich then.
She bought a beautiful manufactured home with beautiful furniture.
Her husband took care of her in life he took care of her in death .
The woman in the video didn't mention life insurance on her husband or owning a home and no life savings .
She wasn't clear enough about her situation .
Young people you better start planning now that you have plenty money when you get old to provide for yourself .

This is exactly why I left South Carolina 24 hours before Hurricane Irma. I moved to Tucson 7 years ago. I left all behind to find them cheap housing. It took me two years and 23 applications in a dozen states to successfully get a Section 8 voucher. I got very lucky to finally get it to use in a decent apartment complex. We older folks with minimal income are in a very precarious position in our country. Even $1,500 is really not enough to live in a rental even here in Tucson where rents are at an all time high. I am now trying to get a vehicle. I am well educated, well experienced, disabled, in my 70's and have no false pride for many decades. I would be homeless if I had not known how to navigate the few social services and Grant programs. It has been a long haul to position myself to have stability on a thousand a month. I need a van for transportation and to be a potential option should I need it. I have been. Fan here and Cheap RV for years to learn my options should I need to. Blessings to all.

Lee, you're the exception, not the rule. You have a tremendous sense of adventure, it shows in all your videos. But not everyone is like that. You make it look easy but it's not easy for a 60-something woman who's all alone in the world, who's lived indoors forever with a full bathroom, forced-air heating, limitless hot water, to move into a little metal box in the desert in Arizona. At the very least, it takes a while to think about it, to adjust to the idea. You see it as an adventure (and we all admire that!) but not everyone would see it that way.
Yes, Bob Wells' videos could help her as could his HOWA (Homes on Wheels Alliance). Even so it's a huge adjustment for a person that age.
It's certainly not going to get easier for retirees in the next 4 years. I think a lot more of us will be living in the desert.

I’m very sorry that this lady is alone and now faces an uncertain future at 66. All of these Mega churches sitting on hundreds of thousands of dollars need to step up and get organized, churches need to reach out to these homeless elders and help them find a safe place to live. Even if the church has to help pay part of the rent, isn’t that churches are supposed to do? Everyone needs to quit thinking the government can fix this problem, they can’t. It’s up to the Christian community to step in and make a difference.

Carolina is assisting and there are other charities that are legitimate. Government on all levels have been useless and it is only citizens mostly all volunteers which are aiding these people. Hope this woman finds the help she desperately needs. Prayers to her.

I was working full-time and living in my van because I couldn't afford the gasoline and repairs on my then 20+ year old van which was needed to drive all over my state for my job. When I couldn't work any more due to disability, I had to move in with someone I barely knew and laid flat on her bed for a year due to the pain. I didn't eat much and went into ketoacidosis to the point that I was peeing blood in excruciating pain. I had no medical care or access to medications. It took two years to finally be approved for disability, bouncing a couple of times to a couple of homes. Once on disability, I got a roommate and rented an apartment which lasted until my roommate died. I am barely getting by on $12,000 a year and foodstamps in a college town with a landlord that hasn't yet raised the rent higher than I can afford but I am doing without heat and air conditioning to keep a roof over my head. I have nothing else and I feel for this woman but I'm only an unexpected expense away from homelessness. My now 33 year old van still runs but now has 400,000 miles on it and runs on about 11 miles per gallon. I've been through it in my van, trying to sleep in 20°F to 113°F weather, neither of which is very useful for sleep and work the next day. On hot steamy nights, the mosquitoes make sure you don't sleep. If work does not provide enough to live on, what good is it?

This is the first video of yours I've run into, and you've got a new sub. I'm a 67 yo f and find myself all alone in this insane new world. I had let my drivers license go almost 20 years ago and because I wasn't in their system, it cost a fortune to get that back. But now I have an old Toyota Highlander, my very first own car. Even though I adore the freedom, I got it because, I can see how easily I could be forced into the exact same place this poor soul has been run over with. So, I've been doing what you suggest, and in my tiny apt. I've been building a bed and putting stuff together. It's too cold to world outside. Besides, I ran out of funds, so while I wait out the snow, I'm learning more about van life and getting ready to step into it. So I'm glad to run into someone like you.

Hi. I just found you...i love your blatant honesty...nothing phony...so ive liked and subbed . Homelessness IS so bad right now that i am scared. If i ever became homeless i would die in my car because i cant take the cold or exteme heat...and i need to have a surgery...a very dangerous one. My 3 Chihuahuas are my family. I wish i could help everyone, especially the elderly... because they are the worlds disposables. Their hearts break from rejection, coldness, loneliness. They are not drug addicts or alcoholics or their theives who have a record. They worked, they tried eryday, they raised their families....now they are garbage to the world.
