It's 2am in Japan right now, but I'm so excited to announce what I have been working on!! This project is so dear to my heart - it's a course that I wish I had when I was studying Japanese. There's too much to say here!! I'll need to talk to you guys in a Q&A, so if you have any questions related to this language school drop a comment down below!
Will this be a temporary thing, or are you planning on continuing it for a long time? Because right now i wouldn't be able to do it but i definitely would in a few years!
It's amazing course that I really wanted to enroll.., hope you'll have 2weeks course in the future. Can't get away from home too long since I'm married... But great to know about your project 😍
Angela, huge congratulations! It takes guts and perseverance to start a new venture and I'm so happy you get to realize it. Best of luck with everything!!
What a great idea Angela! From your videos we know that you have a passion for the Japanese countryside and it’s great to see that you are actively going to share this passion with others and add an educational part to it. I would love to join in the future if I manage to take the time off. I wish you all the best and a lot of success and I hope we will be able to get a taste from it via social media. Have a great one!
Congratulations Angela! This idea is truly amazing! I've always dreamed to have a chance to both study and experience the full Japanese culture (with locals.) I was lucky to travel to Japan couple times and had chance to learn Japanese for 2 years in U.S.; but I was never brave enough to step out of urban/tourist area to experience Japan in whole. Seeing you doing this just encouraged me so much about continuing learning Japanese and pursuing my interests. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the first August-September class this year but I'm hyped to see you doing this and huge props to everyone who made this come true. I'll keep my eyes on this project and BEST of luck to you all! 頑張ってください!
I think this is a great idea and wish you all the success in the world. My sons (twins) have watched a lot of your videos when they were planning a trip with friends from the US (we live in Canada). When that trip fell thru because one couldn't make it. They were so excited when they saw you mention about this school that they just had to apply right away. Then they were blown away when they learned that they were accepted and will see you in August. They always wanted to go to Japan and now that will become a reality because of you. Thank you. ありがとうございました
Congrats on bringing this vision to light and finding a way to highlight a gem of visiting Japan, the countryside. Can't wait to see how this first class enjoys the experience!
Wow! Congratulations Angela! So wonderful. I hope to figure out time to come and take your wonderful Japanese course! You give so much to the community and to your viewers. I feel very lucky to have someone who cares so much.
Congratulations and continued success. My son Majored in International Studies and did study abroad in Japan for about a year, also living with host family. 😎🙏✌
Hello! After this first session/event between Aug-Sept, are you planning to do more opportunities like this? Unfortunately, I am unable to partake in this awesome project, but I would love to join in the next upcoming sessions! 🤗
This is so amazing congratulations!!! I studied abroad in Akita and it made me fall in love with japan more than I thought was possible. The beautiful inaka is such an amazing place to live and study and I think it’s so important for people to study Japanese language and culture outside of the big cities. Good luck!!
This is so nice of you! Also a very noble labour by contributing back to the community giving them a purpose in spreading the culture and what they do. Wishing you every success! Xoxo from Mexico ♡♡♡♡
Congratulations! My heart certainly lies with the countryside in Japan. Whenever I travel there it seems my best memories are made in the smaller towns. I love have conversations with the older generation especially who seem very patient with my Japanese level. If any courses ever fall in Australian school holidays - I’d be there!
Congratulations Angela & your friend Sayaka for starting the wonderful Japanese language learning school. Best wishes all the way from California. May your vision bring you & your students endless excitement about learning. Fight on Angela!!!!
This is amazing! My first experience in Japan was also in the inaka, in Saga-ken! In a small town called Shiroishi. It was totally unexpected and I loved it. I was an intermediate student but my host family, most of my classmates and community members did not speak English. It was tough at times but overall a rewarding experience I wish I could do over and over again. It's truly a different journey when you are immersed, pushed out of your comfort zone and forced to just dive into the language. It doesn't matter if you're saying things wrong or making mistakes, you're making memories! Congrats! Would love to maybe experience your course someday :)
Good luck and all the best! Learning a language while immerse in the culture is the best way to learn new things. Looking at the course guideline from the website seems like it’s more to cultural things 😊. Hope it will gain ground on promoting/growing the area too.
We’ll done Angela. Myself, my wife, sister in law and niece visited Akita and other prefectures in Tohoku lost year partially due to seeing your videos. It was an amazing 1,700 km drive through Akita to Yamagata over five weeks. Tohoku is amazing.
Angela you are always making a difference in the world no matter how big or small but always for the better. I always admire you, we need more people like you in today's world.
Congratulations!! I’ve been planing a trip for a language course for a while now and i’m defiantly adding your school on top of my list! I would live to learn and experience the local side of japan💕
Glad to see you so happy with this new project of yours! I always found super interesting the life in the japanese countryside. Congrats for pursuing and achieving your life goals. I wish you the best!
Early this year, I came across this video about an Akita bank program ran in support of re-occupying abandoned homes in Japan. On a separate note, I've been occasionally active on Hellotalk app sharing tips with the Japanese there on learning and using English, from teens into their 40-50s. Aside learning Japanese, their culture and being able to interact with them, one of my goals is to live and work with them, besides creating a creative community based in Japan, if at all possible. This video is such an encouragement to know that the locals there also wish to revitalize the places dear to them anyway that they can, and I'd love to be part of that endeavor any way that I can.
Fantastic work, Best way to learn Japanese, in the countryside where you aren't given the opportunity to escape the challenge of procuring the language. We are like rivers, we tend to take the route of least resistance. I hope people really take this opportunity. 頑張れ〜!
Omg this is so amazing. I wish I could apply, but sadly don’t have the funds to maintain myself for 6 months without working. This is exactly what I wanted when coming to Japan and learn the language! I hope you have great success and make that town even better than it is already. 😊
That's awesome. My dream has been to move to the countryside in Japan so I've loved seeing your videos focusing on those areas. As much as I love Tokyo, my time in Kinosaki was the happiest time of my life. I can't wait to be back, and for longer this time! 4 months wasn't enough!
Congratulations on opening a Japanese language school! Your talents and passions are paying off! Hopefully I can learn Japanese at your school someday!
This is a wonderful idea! My boyfriend told me that the elementary school where he grew up in Osaka also shut down recently due to lack of students, it’s really sad!
This is such an amazing idea and such a fantastic way to bring something new to Japan's countryside! I would love to be a part of this! Unfortunately I wouldnt be able to this year, but if you have something for next year I would really love to do something like this!
I'm really happy to know that you are going to open a Japanese Language School. I've been following your videos for a long time Angela and I can see how passionate you are about the countryside of Japan. :)
This is so awesome! Congratulations for making your dream come to fruition! I'm so jealous of everybody who gets to do this. It looks like it will be well worth it!
Hi Angela, congratulations!!! My family have been watching your posts since more than 2 yrs ago. It has always delighted us to watch your posts. You have been a very effective ambassador for Japan. Blogging seems to be a lot of fun but it's different when you start engaging yourself to change things from the ground. Something there is pulling you back. I think you found yourself where you want to be or at least where to start. Here's to more success in your endeavors and hope that when we visit Japan again, we can also get a chance to visit Akita and your school. 👏👏👏🍷🍷🍷
OMG! WHAT A /GENIUS/ IDEA!!! I WISH I COULD GO THIS INSTANT!!!!!!!!! I'm going to look at the application and talk to my mom tomorrow!! AHHHH THIS IS SUCH A BRILLIANT IDEA FOR A SCHOOL :D Even if I can't end up going this year/term, maybe next one?! I HOPE THIS SCHOOL STAYS OPEN FOREVER!
Congrats on opening your school!! When I studied abroad in Japan, it was through a language and culture program with university. I definitely see that this will have such a positive impact on students learning about Japan!! Way to go :)
I hope this takes off so maybe an early summer session could be added. I'm planning to return to japan after med school and this would be a wonderful way to spend time there.
This is such a great idea and just the thing I am looking to do. I've always wanted to visit the Japanese countryside. Next year I would like to try your new school! I'll see if I can take 4 weeks off from work! - Kubo
Congrats Angela. Hopefully one day in the future I get to attend there to learn the language. I've been praying about learning a language and thanks to you I may have found a spot to learn. I like being in a classroom learning but I'm a hands on person and this could be perfect for me. Thank you
Amazing project! I wish I could afford it now! I’ve studied Japanese in the past and I would love to get back at it. I’m in Australia right now and jobless even though I’m a teacher...it would be a dream to have a language school myself so it is so inspiring to see a fellow teacher doing that! Good luck with everything!
Good luck on your project! My friends and I so amaze with what you do there, so inspiring. What a great progress, restoring a local school and giving life to it. Superb! 👏🏼🥳😄🤓
i love it! i'm tearing up thinking of how great this is to help rebuild and revive the countryside after hearing so much sad news about declining rural populations and abandoned homes. i wish i could take the course :(
If I wasn’t coming to Japan in November of this year I’d so do this. It sounds amazing. Hopefully you have more courses in the future because I’d definitely do this.
Immediately subscribed! You are amazing. I wish I had the chance to do something like this before. I studied in two Japanese language schools for a total of a year and a half but my Japanese is still so bad. That's because living in Osaka, where it's more foreign, I barely had any chances to use Japanese. I love that it's a short course so that for people living in Japan, it will be easier. Definitely will look into it!
Omg, i really hope there are more courses later this year! I'm moving across country in august, but would love to join later this year or even early next year! I hope this is very successful!
Hi, Angela. I hope your new school is a tremendous success. I can't imagine a more perfect situation and what a beautiful locale. Always great to see you and I wish you all the best.
Congratulations, Angela! I have been about 12 times to Japan and Akita is on my to-visit-list. Unfortunately this year is not possible - It could be next year. You are definately right about learning Japanese in the big cities like Tokyo - I usually went to Kanazawa, Ishikawa, to school...
Oh if only I could, this would be exactly what I have been looking for. Unfortunately I would need to save for at least a year to have enough money to pull this off. But I hope you get a full class this year and that someday I can join the program at a later time. What a fantastic idea.
This would make me very happy. Getting the time to do it (away from work) would be tough. This is so incredibly awesome, Angela.
Will this be a temporary thing, or are you planning on continuing it for a long time? Because right now i wouldn't be able to do it but i definitely would in a few years!
It's amazing course that I really wanted to enroll.., hope you'll have 2weeks course in the future.

What a Dream come true, not only for you but future students as well! Brava and congratulations!
Omg that's so amazing! I want to go learn japanese at your school!!!
Same here! Looks so fun. If I were to come japan for like stayin I’d really wanna join there.

That's determination. Giving is same as receiving
