Would have been nice if it shipped with an internal HDD that was larger than the size of 5 games. We paid a premium for the console, and still have to buy extra hardware. Great.
Lol I remember the Xbox 360 where you could literally just buy a cheap flash drive and plug it right into your console and it would actually work as a hard drive.
FYI. I actually timed the loading of about 8 games between internal and external storage and external storage won every time. Max Curse of Brotherhood actually had 15 sec improvement. Definitely loading all my games on external hard drive.
I have 6 games a bunch of apps and I have 72% done. Plus I like this better since you can take this to a friends house and have all your data in one place without having to take your Xbox or download your info from the cloud. And 1 TB or 1000 GB cost like 40 bucks.
This is awesome. Now all we need is the ability to be able to play our own music in the background without snapping (like on the 360), and this game will be complete :)
This is where the digital games idea really works, no longer do you have to squeeze game disc into your bag for a game night with friends. Just take one external drive and your done, its a shame you need the disc if you have the disc not digital version but this is why I liked the original idea they had with games before launch.
I have the Xbox One 500GB model and after installing 4 games I only have about 58GB left, 4 games ate up almost 90% of all my storage. If you're a normal gamer, then yeah you should get a 500GB model or a 1TB model, but if you're a hardcore gamer and you're planning on buying several large games and tons of DLCs, then get a 2TB model.
A good option to have. I can't complain because on the Xbox One you can have about 15 games on the HDD at a time. I can't remember the last time I needed to play more than 15 games at a time.
So you will have drives plugged in everywhere. Doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I like a clean look around my consoles. Why not just make it so games don't have to be installed. Problem solved
now they just need us to be able to preorder digital games and download the games before release. this might actually help the developers see that people are interested in their game on the X1 before a sudden surge the day of release. oh and allow the east cost to actually start playing at midnight, not at 3am in the morning.
Got 2 Seagate 5tb HDD's... lol that'll take a while to fill up :) of course, if you have the money to throw down then get it. You're gonna need the extra space when you're getting 2 free games a month and all the games you want coming this fall.
This is great and all but the internal drive should be 1TB. 500GB is nothing these days and a 1TB drive is only slightly more expensive than a 1TB these days as well.
I still run a HD dvd drive on my 360. Too bad they don't make new release movies in that format. I almost finished my complete collection of DVDs released on that format. F**k BluRay.
Yeah ill be getting the S on black Friday I want to get into the Xbox live game deals but the game files are way to big now I feel like 500 gb wouldn't be enough. I guess I'll have to spend more money and do this
i wish i wasnt forced to buy the connect at the start.. i would have loved to spend the extra hundred on an external instead cause id actually use that
My internal 250GB Samsung Evo, 2TB Seagate, 3 additional internal drive bays, 2 hot swap bays, 3 eSATA ports, and 14 USB ports are laughing at you. My old rig's SCSI ports are laughing at you too.
i think this is great, if it's as flexible as it seems. just get a 4 or 5 TB drive on sale and your set. can you use any external hard drive or do you have to use xbox products?
why can't we use the cloud storage like we could with the 360? why do we have to install every game even with the disc? is it for the graphics? that I can understand but still
And instead of finding ways to bleed us for more money, you could atleast do one good thing and fix all the bugs we have to deal with all the time, like broken party chat, not being able to join people, and not even getting invites sent to you
MS doesn't get any money from external hard drives. Western Digital, Toshiba and Seagate does, because you can use any external and there is no MS hard drive for XO.
Do you always have to have it plugged in? Why cant the external just add in the memory in the HDD and not have to plug it in again. Im sorry but im just confused
If someone already has a HD that's already been formatted for the 360 can they just plug that in and use it right away?? Or will they have to reformat it again anyway?
I miss the old days when I could just pop the disc in a play the game instead of waiting an entire day for it to download
khi coolblast Same.
khi coolblast get faster internet
Same.
ThatGuyKhi 2 years late but you can download them offline much faster.
HOT BOLOGNA was could you explain
"Bigger is better"
That's what she said.

Lol
heheh im a 5 year old
6 years later how u doin
She did say that tho
Would have been nice if it shipped with an internal HDD that was larger than the size of 5 games. We paid a premium for the console, and still have to buy extra hardware. Great.
+Bacon not all. Both Tomb raider games are just over 20gbs.
+Robert Oortwijn why would anyone do that when the better option is to upgrade?
my xb1 had 750 gbs when I got it
Can u use external hhd on a 500 gb hdd
yes
Lol I remember the Xbox 360 where you could literally just buy a cheap flash drive and plug it right into your console and it would actually work as a hard drive.
The glory days
Gary Pickrell IV yes Xbox 360 is still my favorite
Gary Pickrell IV 😂😂😂😂 me too
Lol, she said bigger is better :D
she been black's lol
where's the humor in that?
Thats epic my guy!
Oh God
Lol, she's a bot.
I'm so glad that the Xbox has this feature. Thanks Microsoft.
Wow, you can connect a hard drive to your machine. The future is now! What a time to be alive! /s
Hi I’m from the year 2022
FYI. I actually timed the loading of about 8 games between internal and external storage and external storage won every time. Max Curse of Brotherhood actually had 15 sec improvement. Definitely loading all my games on external hard drive.
internal would have been nice but i ain't even mad
You can connect external storage to your machine? Wow, what revolutionary technology. I'm so glad that I can relive being in 2003 again.
oh "bigger is better" she knows it!
I have 6 games a bunch of apps and I have 72% done. Plus I like this better since you can take this to a friends house and have all your data in one place without having to take your Xbox or download your info from the cloud. And 1 TB or 1000 GB cost like 40 bucks.

I am from the future, they need to add Cortana, The Storage Update and Store Reviews and Accurate Ratings
from the future and yes u can play music in the background now :)

MS are very clear about how it works and it's limitations in this video. Well done MS
I completely appreciate this from Xbox
Wow. You can connect a hard drive to your machine. The future is now! What a live to be alive!
I'm loving these monthly updates, keep up the great work Microsoft!
This video has prevented me from having a heart attack
I'm glad we can do this. Life is a bit easier. I ordered a 4TB Seagate HDD, I should be set.
I would like usb support for mp3 just like in the xbox 360
You can
I'm just glad we didn't need to buy a "Xbox" Hard drive and could use any kind.
I added a 2TB hard drive for $90 and it works great. Love my Xbox One!
I have the Xbox One 500GB model and after installing 4 games I only have about 58GB left, 4 games ate up almost 90% of all my storage. I've been waiting for this like forever
I guess Microsoft's getting people ready for installing the beast Halo The Master Chief Collection is.
haha reading this comment must be before it came out. master flop collection
Glad they uploaded a video about this, people always ask me how
Does it have to be specifically for x box or can it be any 3.0 drive
Nice feature. The option to go internal would've been a welcome entry into the xbone saga tho.
Yes! thank you! I can play battle front and black ops 3 now with out deleting anything!!!
I have a 2tb G drive 7200RPM.... 7200 RPm is key if indeed you want even quicker loading times and no lag as well
loving my xbox one right now , cant wait for final fantasy 15 , and halo master chief collection
This is a huge step for Microsoft (Xbox specifically)
I already got a 1TB USB 3,0 drive. Can't wait to try it soon!
A good option to have. I can't complain because on the Xbox One you can have about 15 games on the HDD at a time. I can't remember the last time I needed to play more than 15 games at a time.
"Bigger is better"
Huehuehuehue ...
Can I still say "Xbox go to Titanfall" If the game is in the external hard drive?
So you will have drives plugged in everywhere. Doesn't seem like a good idea to me. I like a clean look around my consoles. Why not just make it so games don't have to be installed. Problem solved
Probably have to buy one this fall with all the good games coming out that time. plus the games with gold every month.
Let the SSD console competition begin!
now they just need us to be able to preorder digital games and download the games before release. this might actually help the developers see that people are interested in their game on the X1 before a sudden surge the day of release.
oh and allow the east cost to actually start playing at midnight, not at 3am in the morning.
Thanks Xbox, this helped me out a lot.
Really wish they would have linked some recommended devices to use.
Got 2 Seagate 5tb HDD's... lol that'll take a while to fill up :) of course, if you have the money to throw down then get it. You're gonna need the extra space when you're getting 2 free games a month and all the games you want coming this fall.
After 4 years of owning it, have you ever noticed any issues?
I have 5 games installed plus 20+ apps on the stock hd, idk what you all are complaining about...
Is there a limit to how much external storage the Xbox one can support?
Like the xbox 360 only supports up to 2TB of external storage.
It can go up to like 10 tb no joke i hav a 10 tb hard drive and it wrks 😀
+Awkward Turtle Thank you very much.
+Awkward Turtle do you really need that 10 tb?
+Riley Caton No
no, as there is a 5tb external hardrive but there really is no limit and that's what makes it so sweet
This is great and all but the internal drive should be 1TB. 500GB is nothing these days and a 1TB drive is only slightly more expensive than a 1TB these days as well.
2023 long life xbox❤
I still run a HD dvd drive on my 360. Too bad they don't make new release movies in that format. I almost finished my complete collection of DVDs released on that format. F**k BluRay.
This is a really awesome feature!
Faster ports, larger drives, no hassle changes, etc. Not really a big deal for me.
Yeah ill be getting the S on black Friday I want to get into the Xbox live game deals but the game files are way to big now I feel like 500 gb wouldn't be enough. I guess I'll have to spend more money and do this
This Helped soooooo much thanks Xbox! I will always go to u guys If i have a problem
i wish i wasnt forced to buy the connect at the start.. i would have loved to spend the extra hundred on an external instead cause id actually use that
Thx, this is helpful since Xbox one isn't like Xbox 360
My internal 250GB Samsung Evo, 2TB Seagate, 3 additional internal drive bays, 2 hot swap bays, 3 eSATA ports, and 14 USB ports are laughing at you.
My old rig's SCSI ports are laughing at you too.
I have 500 GB only have 5 games able to play. looks like I have no choice but to buy one
WHEN CAN I USE A EXTERNAL DRIVE TO WATCH MOVIES OR LISTEN TO MUSIC THROUGH XBOX?
Shot I have 8 games and my hdd is only at 66gb can still play about one or two more games.
That actually helped me
i think this is great, if it's as flexible as it seems. just get a 4 or 5 TB drive on sale and your set. can you use any external hard drive or do you have to use xbox products?
Can you use smaller storage things because I’m not spending $40-$80 just for storage
Its worth it
Sweet wish it was more convenient like the original 360 though
33 people disliked something that's a great feature? Mmmkay then
I love it! Thank you, Microsoft Xbox Team!
You're welcome!
Xbox remember....bigger is better ;)
So..i plugged in my new 2tb hard drive and nothing popped up or anything won't let me transfer...what do I do?
@ChesnoidGaming I have plenty more than 5 games and only have used 250 GB...
Cortana on xbox one NEEDS to happen!!
This is amazing
WOW, nearly as good as a PC
no
no. as much as i live xbox pc is far superior
0.26 that's what she said
"You can use a USB 3.0 hub"? I don't get it
@@cameronsz6830 0:20*
why can't we use the cloud storage like we could with the 360? why do we have to install every game even with the disc? is it for the graphics? that I can understand but still
Can I leave this harddrive plugged in at all times or do I need to unplug this when I’m not using it?
You can keep it plugged in.
I left it plugged in during an XBL update. Now my XB1 doesn't detect it.
And instead of finding ways to bleed us for more money, you could atleast do one good thing and fix all the bugs we have to deal with all the time, like broken party chat, not being able to join people, and not even getting invites sent to you
Not only bugs I sent my kinect off as it stopped working in November they replaced it and it's stopped working again so gotta send it off again
MS doesn't get any money from external hard drives. Western Digital, Toshiba and Seagate does, because you can use any external and there is no MS hard drive for XO.
Do any of you know any good, cheap, external storage? Thanks
at least 256 gb's to use? thats crazy
This was nice help thank you
Thank you Microsoft for making this!
I love you xbox one
Any good drives I could buy?
Bigger is better. Nice ;)
Great. I have HDD External Storage 16TB supporting port USB 3.0 that work or not?
My game clip storage is full does this mean I will be able to save game clips on the hard drive?
I just a external hardrive and it says you can only use it for music and stuff not apps and games
now all we need is Backwards compatible
Any recommend recommendations for an external storage unit(hard drives, etc)?
Get a external 500gb sdd or 1tb ssd is better than hdd
Welp I better then buy myself another Toshiba 1TB hard drive for this with a 3.0 twin headed USB just in case.
does the drive need to have its own power source? or can it be powered by usb 3.0?
"bigger is better"
Now I can finally mod xbox one games, thanks Microsoft.
Can you use every usb or does it be a special brand
What causes the xbox to have to delete evertything that is on the drive before you can use it?
Awesome!
I'm getting a 5TB for good measure
This will be great
How about just make the internal hard drive swappable
does the console power settings matter on the USB powered ones?
I love it !!
Dem 4Tb HDDs. Also what about SSDs?
