im in a sounds & lights service industry for 5 yrs every event has a band or vocalist guest and they are absolotely amazing. thats why i enjoy my work here in manila. weddings transformed into a concert..lol
Your statement didn’t make sense. You say Filipinos are hard to please. Then you say as long as they sing well they’ll appreciate it. Kaya wag na mag English kung Di mo Kaya.
When you are exposed to the caliber of artists like the ones you have seen or heard from the Philippines, your standards for music appreciation is already set so high. I do appreciate music from all over the world as well as different genres, however, I always go back to listening to OPM artists. They stand in a different class of artists. Love your reactions to karaoke singers. 😜
Being a standout artist here in Philippines means you have to be a triple threat plus with an outstanding charisma on stage. A standout singer/artist cant be good enough without these trait.
There's a lot of great singers in the Philippines that's why if you're a professional singer or a big artist in the country, you should always be do all your best in every single performance cause they could criticize you easily if they want. That's the reason why we have a lot of great singers cause the competition never ends. .its mind blowing honestly
Been to the Philippines a few times...singing echoes in the air no matter if in Malls, streets, bar/restaurants (which are so fun). New Year's Eve, with a bit much Red Horse beer, I actually joined in on a family videoke fest. I never sounded better! 🤣🤣
Lol every festive time in the Philippines means karaoke time and I am not a great singer myself but the atmosphere just make you wanna sing specially with confidence brought by beers lol
Being a standout artist here in Philippines means you have to be a triple threat plus with an outstanding charisma on stage. A standout singer/artist cant be good enough without these traits.
Totally expressed that both of you are getting better at singing Filipino songs. Bravo! Keep up your great work and more power to your channel. I am surely going to continue to watch your channel.
16:17 to answer your question (well from my own perspective), those well known singers here are the ones who put dedication and sacrifice into performing and creating music. yes, there's a lot of people who can sing but a lot of them too just enjoy it as their hobby or some kind of talent that they only showcase to their family and friends. To become a famous singer, it's either they got popular through joining a contest (broadcasted on TV), got viral but are able to maintain that popularity (coz many don't), a really famous celebrity/influencer that releases his/her own song/s, or through years of continuously creating music and performing (on different places) until someday they gained numerous fans. I mean to really become a recognized singer and stand out from a lot of Filipinos who can sing, you'll have to focus on that goal. It's supposed to be your passion in life. And sometimes it's "luck" because surely, a lot of amazing singers didn't make it even though they sacrificed so much.
Would love to see your reaction to VIRAL SINGER SA INUMAN...this is a coompilation of men drinking and doing karaoke...classic example of what you will see in a regular filipino neighborhood especially during weekends LOL
the fact that ur singing a filipino song, im really amazed guys and really appreciated as a filipino! i enjoyed lots of ur video reactions to pinoy singers. thank you and love u guys.❤️❤️❤️
12:03 the name of this person is Mariane Osabel, Tawag ng Tanghalan Semi Finalist and The Clash Season 4 winner. You should check her out!!! she's a freaking beast!
I really love when you sing along with the vids, you are really loving opm songs! Plus the ideas and questions that comes up from Efra's mind. No wonder he's smart, he's very observant and willing to learn
Your TWO of my BEST song covers REACTIONS, sibling love is soooooo PALPABLE, the give and take iui s always there, but growing up back home in the PHILIPPINES, they always say, everyone learn how to sing before you spit and we do live shows, even the older singers are not allowed to LIP SYNC, they shoot them, not a joke, from MANHATTAN NEW YORK
For Ezra's comment about Bands having a hard gigs in bars in PH, its actually quite the contrary. Bands in bars and fiestas often involve the crowd or a participant when they're doing sets. It kept the audience or just the bar patrons entertained, and at the same time help the main vocals take a break from singing. Even as a filipino who often goes to bars finds it fascinating how much of a life hack was that. Its entertaining.
the first one was so funny when she did that long high note and then went "ang taas nakakakainis!" ("so high, it's so annoying!") hahaha. she's so annoyed by it but she knows the song like the back of her hand so she's obviously sang it on karaoke a LOT. so even though it's hard, she persists and continues to practice it and that's awesome... now, the thing that amazes me with people who are so good at singing karaoke anywhere is that those machines sound really bad by themselves haha the speakers are in front of you and so very bad and you can't hear yourself, but they manage to make concerts out of it.
It is amazing to know that you have memorized a part of "Pangarap ko Ang Ibigin Ka"! 😱🤯😁❤️ About your thoughts on being a professional singer, you both got it right, it is really hard to excel.
I remembered 3 yrs ago when we were in the beach resort in Indonesia there's a live band there who intertained the guest the lead singer sings so nice and I ask her where she came from she said she's from the PHILLIPINES and only the Filipino who work there as a singer I'm so shocked and feeling proud of her
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Music makes people bind together. Songs are great and music creates happiness for all of us. Songs are form of an intertainment that touches our hearts and cleanse our souls of nasty feelings. Thanks for sharing your channel.
The charisma and attitude of the singers what sets them apart from others that is why we have lots of singing competitions to see who has the talent which is given, the charisma and if they have the right attitude to become a star.
A karaoke machine is always present at home parties (wedding, baptism, graduation, birthday celebrations, etc.), fiestas, all resorts (private pools and even in beach resorts). It would be weird not to have a karaoke machine during events here in PH.
Actually, each houses here in the Philippines had own a karaoke machine or videoke. You're not a Filipino without karaoke machine or videoke. It's tradition to us anyway. And everywhere you are here in the Philippines you can found a karaoke machine
The "people are the entertainment " part is actually true. I was in this mini bar besides the beach next town and there's a karaoke in the middle. And I tell you each table has their own singer, it was like a singing contest of each group from each table it was really really fun! From classic pop rock to Air supply to modern opm, it was really such a jam!
In the distant past, Filipinos were cited as great imitators, but were said of them not in a complimenting way. What you guys have said and realized about Filipinos in a complimenting way, have given this a positive perspective on how Filipinos have gotten to this point of excellence.
5:28 that is why, before pandemic, the show bands fly to other countries to make a living. majority of whom, find work in japan and in cruise ships. 7:47 the lady in the group singing inside the bathroom is musica cristobal. she was once sarah geronimo's competition in a singing contest where sarah won.
I feel like that the Filipino audience are quite hard to impress when it comes to power vocals because we grew up listening to great power vocals and that is not only by the artists we see and hear in the radios or tv but also to our families and friends or even neighbors! Lol And sometimes I was watching like singing competition like American Idol or AGT and hear a vocalist in grand finals and whatnot, and I was like "huh that's it?" Lol
Would you even believe efra and waleska that even in a ""funeral wake""" there is a karaoke machine that you can sing your hearts out that's how Filipinos are mad about karaoke 🎤🎤🎤🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
you guys are right about the industry here. singers need to give something more. w/c is why i think singer-artist-composers have an edge here. you don't only have to be a singer coz a lot can sing; you need to find an edge over everyone else to succeed.
Hopefully old gen OPM will take a rest to give way to new gen OPM. For 30 years, I’ve been hearing the same old OPM songs, sang by different singers from different singing competitions year after year, which is why it is not easy for new artists with original songs to break into mainstream OPM because many Filipinos wanted to see the next best version of an old song. Our only hope for new gen OPM are spotify, youtube, and live concerts.
you buy a karaoke set or a karaoke dvd for a much lower price then you set up your mics and your speakers. it comes with a songbook where songs are listed with their code number and you type it in the karaoke and it plays a lyrics video but with a minus one. if you grew up with a karaoke, you would end up memorizing the song codes/number of your favorite songs haha. usually, you can also change the tempo and pitch of the songs
You guys are awesome. Hearing you sing along with Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka is just epic. Your pronounciation of every word is so soooooo good. Luv it❤
Karaoke is everywhere in the Philippines. Even in the middle of department stores. Just type in mall singers and you will get Filipinos singing every time. Some are ready for the stage
in philippines singing is a normal bonding with friends and family either you have the voice or not. thats the reason why karaoke was invented bcoz people loves to sing and its fun 😊😊🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
There was a time when singers made their distinction by belting the highest, longest note they could execute. It stripped away the artistry and soul of the songs. And I believe that's why for a long time alternative OPM was the most popular local genre because they were keeping true to the expression of the songs instead of engaging in Vocal Olympics.
True, what Efra said. "Offer something different for a performer to be notice" example; Sb19 blew up in September 2, 2019 due to their perfectly synchronized dance practice video on Twitter. On the other side, of Filipinos are very demanding and very discriminating audience. Nobody would take notice of you if you're a mediocre performer by Filipino standard.
This is one of my FAVE reaction videos from you guys. You know why, I get to see yoi both actually singing "Pangarap ko ang iibigin ka" or any tagalog opm song for that matter.
OMG, I am enjoying the two of you singing Tagalog song and great comments to the singers. You guys are awesome reactors when analyzing talents coming from Philippines. God bless and stay humble

You always made my day complete everytime I've watch your ginuine reaction many times thank you both of you are so good .hope both of you collaborate one pilipino song
In the Philippines pre-pandemic, people go out on videoke parties where the microphone goes around and everyone sings their favorite songs from all genres and all eras of music. There are videoke rooms for hire for 3-6 hours and people attend and cram in from 1-2 dozen people just to sing or listen while eating and drinking. You can buy a Bluetooth microphone that connects to your smartphone. Then select a karaoke video on RUclips with the song title and version you want to sing. The music and your voice will play from the videoke microphone's speakers and you read the lyrics from your smart phone. There are also apps that can record your voice and face as the music plays and the lyrics are displayed on your phone's touchscreen.

Efra just to give you can idea, a man with long hair preferably straight black hair, playing a guitar singing a Bohemian rhapsody, Lady by Kenny Roger or any songs of Martin Nievera, Marco Sison or Nonoy Soñiga and so many ballader in the country is like a magnet to a woman. Will this is during my time (I am in my 50's) and I am not sure for the new gen. they are more into kpop.
This is popular in the Philippines, Magic sing karaoke system. Just connect it to your TV then you're ready to sing. You can buy this on Amazon as well.
I remember there are also restaurants that have waitresses and waiters who will sing to you while dining. They will sing to birthday celebrants - it's fun!
Used to be cd or dvds karaoke. Nowadays they are built in songs saved on memory chips though same experience. You choose the song you want to sing and voila you sing with it. Depends on the karaoke, most likely you have the basic controls I.e. pitch, tempo..echo,reverb etc. Some are just the machine you need to connect to speakers some are whole system where all you need to do is plug the power on and that’s it.
Just like what you have notice, our singing and imitations of original singers are far from average that it becomes too common that mass majority of Filipinos can sing. So you wonder how can a singer here in the Philippines can be above among the rest? All you need to do is close your eyes, of you can recognized the singer's voice, style and uniqueness without looking at them, then that's your answer why that singer is famous here in the Philippines. Even if you are a great singer in our country but just sounded too common. It's not gonna be impressive for us. You can use Morissette, KZ, Regine, Jaya, Kyla, Yeng, Ben&Ben, Moira and a lot more. It's given that they are all amazing singers just like many Filipinos, but even without looking at them you'll know that they are the one singing.
😂🤣😂 Efra you found your ring? 😂😂 I thought something broke in my room but it was the sound of your ring hitting something else. Hahaha It has been 4 hrs watching you guys. So fun….take care guys ❤️💛🥰😘
