I'm also Puerto Rican and a huge Matias fan. Your vid made me feel better by recapping at what happened at the fight. Paro did his thing, congrats to him, but something did feel off about Subriel before the fight. I was too anxious at the moment to realize, but coming out with the two rappers and dancing his way to the ring felt very out of character for him. He was like Apollo in Rocky 4 (without the brutal knockout/death). I'm not ready to watch the fight again, not until Matias starts winning and fights like his old self. Which I believe he will!
The Ergashev fight, Matias was catching punches with his glove, using defense, negating the clinch. Matias had a different pace. Against Paro, Matias was human. Too friendly. Matias has a different aura in previous fights where he has no regard for his opponent's well-being. Paro landed over 20 rabbit punches. He was warned, but Matias should of set the tone of the fight and fight back dirty to show whos the alpha male in the ring. Letting Paro get away with rabbit punches and excessive holding was on Matias. Matias has tools to negate the clinch and he did not use them. There's something up with Matias mentally. He just gave the fight away. Rounds 8-12 Matias had no urgency and seem like he just wanted to go home. Paro was trying to survive a Matias who came to light spar. Matias is still dangerous, and he can beat Lopez, Haney, and Cruz. Matias needs to take his next fight seriously. He needs to stop giving away rounds and read his opponents, control the pace. Matias vs Prograis should be next. Or Matias vs the Dominicans or Hitchins.
Facts! Matias didn't do nothing at all. He wasn't throwing punches, didn't listen to the corner didn't follow the combos after hurting Paro. Matias could've won easy just the little bit of punches that he throw Paro was almost giving up but then Matias would let him recover it was all weird. I'm just disappointed that Matias didn't care about wining.
paro fought smart with strategic holding to interrupt subriel's rhythm. it still does not explain why subriel did not let his hands go. he is a lawnmower. puerto rican boxing is among the very best. the loss doesn't mean much and usually makes the fighter better. panda is a cool dude and will get on subriel's ass about the details. we all aren't our best on any one day. just one of those things.
It was rhe same Matias. Only difference is his opponent didnt capitulate as the fight went on. Subriel himself said there was no issue with preparation. He was the best hes been, But Paro was the better man. I respect Subriel for not having excuses, which is why i give him a chance in a rematch.. this was inevitable. Matias gives up too many rounds and fights in spurts too often, he did it again in this fight, the only difference was he was in there against somebody who had the ability to put it all together
You're 100% right, Matias didn't show up that night. He only threw half as much and stood there with a high guard, doing nothing and letting Paro throw more and then hug. Many people even say that he intentionally lost because of the huge profit from betting on Paro. To some this was a fraud, and something went on under the table. But regardless, when I look closely, I also do see lots of mistakes that would contribute to a loss for any fighter. One example is that he was brought only 1 weeks before the fight from high elevation. I've read that it's a mistake and should be at least 2 weeks. The second thing is all the fanfare and drinking and other detrimental partying going on days before the fight, including the night before. Also, all this focus on nationalism and on Trinidad. I didn't even like the 10-minutes' walk to the ring. That was too narcissistic for my taste. He may have also overtrained, and they changed him into a defensive fighter like so many people were asking instead of letting him be. That's why the excessive high guard. And some are saying that his ego got too bloated, which is always bad. Others say that he lost some of the drive due to being sexually active. There are many other problems that certainly contributed to the Matias we know not showing up.
Matias was not focus and he was enjoying his people cheering him on. Stamina was missing, and better foot work. The killer instinct was missing as well. Perhaps, he partied too much the night before and he lost the edge, if that was the case then this was a lesson not to party the night before a fight ever again! Better get it together or your days are numbered! Good luck 🍀
Reading these comments is funny. Like dudes come on here as if they know what they are talking about and all they flex is being in they feelings about a guy and not liking what he's done for personal Reasons. Ya lack the ability to assess a fighter without not feeling like the credit you may give discredits other fighters.... no one in boxing has been stomping out their opponents like Matias. And all your so-called elites have fought different level competition and still ain't stop fighters like he has. That shit ain't normal.

The last fight he showed softness was with Petros in the rematch when the bell would ring he would touch Petros gloves like good round of action and then get back to kicking his ass lol but normally Matias doesn’t give a damn about you he’s there to do his job beat the day lights out of you and go home but against Paro we didn’t see that. Every Matias fight you start to get concerned for his opponents because there outgunned, discouraged and your hoping they pull the plug to prevent another Dadashev but with Paro that feeling wasn’t there either all because of Matías performance.

Another note Paro ended up going to the hospital to drain some blood out of his ear because it was busted up from Matías left hooks

Matias will come stonger now🔥🔥🇵🇷
I do take away from Paro that he head butt, rabbit punched, hugged every moment, pushed …. All illegal …
The PR Crowd Was Yelling Let Him Go To Paro 😂😂
Agree 💯
In a moment Paro was limping and everything

The real Matias showed up and he lost.
If Matias loses again in the way that he did then I’ll be convinced
@@miracleboyboxing he lost against a C/B level opponent...if he fights any elite boxer he'll get flattened.

He will never be a champ again
Well we will see about that
