The Takeover is returning to his South Florida roots.
Teofimo Lopez will defend his WBO and Ring Magazine junior welterweight world titles against Canadian contender Steve Claggett on Saturday, June 29, at James L. Knight Center in Downtown Miami, Florida.
In the 10-round featherweight co-feature, Cuban former WBO world champion Robeisy Ramirez returns against Mexico’s Brandon Leon Benitez.
The six-round televised opener sees middleweight prospect Nico Ali Walsh attempt to avenge his only pro defeat in a rematch against Sona Akale.
#TeofimoClaggett Ramirez-Benitez & Ali Walsh-Akale II will be broadcast LIVE on ESPN, ESPN Deportes & ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Sky Sports will broadcast the event in the UK & Ireland.

I think Ryan wants the BIG name fighters. Not to say that Teo isn’t a big name to boxing fans. But I think he wants the money fights where he can fight the household name fighters.

Clagget actually has a solid background and got positive feedback from Roger Mayweather back in the day. Perhaps Clagget is washed by now, but you never know. Ultimately, these are free fights; so I don't get why some people keep complaining about these consistent Top Rank events.

I’ve followed claggett’s career for years. This guy can surprise. He has a great jab and is tough as nails. He’s the busiest 140 fighter out there with 5 fights in just the past 15 months and won them all. Won 9 straight. This guy’s record doesn’t reflect how tough he is. He has more knockout wins than Teo has wins. He trained at the mayweather gym when he was a youngster and was Danny garcias sparring partner for some of his fights. Lots of casuals here.

He’s collected belts and he still has a lot of areas of his game he can improve on. The only way we’ll see the best is once his dad lets him go to let him grow. If that happens, nobody touching him.
