- Welcome to episode one of my solo journey through "The Walking Dead Universe RPG" by Free League Publishing, a gripping role-playing game set in the harrowing and iconic world of The Walking Dead. In this game, players face the horrors of a zombie apocalypse, navigating a landscape filled with walkers and fraught with the challenges of survival.

In this episode, we will develop our character, haven and the area of Sydney we will be exploring. The road ahead is uncertain and perilous, but with careful planning and a bit of luck, we might just survive another day in The Walking Dead Universe.

I cannot thank you enough.
Back in Easter 2022 I had x2 strokes leaving me with no movement in my right arm/hand.
After much rehabilitation I can happily say that I've got full movement back,
However I still have problems with fiddly things ie opening bottles of pop,using button's and writing.
As a hobby I used to enjoy writing short star wars stories,
But after my strokes I stopped...until now.
Thanks to you and this game which I'm getting next Friday (payday).
I've started writing again n got my juices flowing once more.
I've been doing the back stories for my characters,who likes/dislikes etc and our enemy
"Crimson Clowns"
I cannot wait till I can start playing

Excellent setup session! You've got plenty of possible story threads, both internally and externally. When you asked about an alternative name, for some reason I thought of The Crimson Brotherhood, with the leader calling himself King Crimson. As for the National Park rumour, perhaps the dangerous NPC is an ex-soldier survivalist who has set himself (or herself) up in some form of tree-top observation station and is rumoured to have a hidden cache of provisions and other supplies. Just some idle thoughts 😊

Thank you. I’m looking forward to getting into the game play. I like the abstracted nature of the game. Setting it in places I know will be different too. Sad thing is I’ve been here 22 years and still can’t pull off a good Australian accent LOL
Adjusting the 5 km gridded map should be easy enough, just double the possible per sector travel distances, or just get out a marker and "customize" your map. 😊
To make my custom map, I just used a screenshot from Google Maps, imported it into a virtual tabletop (I used Owlbear Rodeo), and used that to set a grid to the size I wanted, then took another screenshot.
Thank you for the advice. My end solution ended up being even easier. Wait till the next episode you will see how stupid I can be 🤣
To make the map more interesting, you could use post its with information of what is there. That sayd, it covers the map… so may not be a good idea at all 😅
Btw I like the use of real map, even if you don’t use the real things, having the top view as a map is an easy and realistic way to have random houses and easy way to make up stuff.
As far the object… could be big countainers to retain rain water, so it was less of a problem to look at or to use it to cultivate stuff?
That might also work... great idea :D
Have you thought about using a 'Sydway' street diretory map/book to help with your map?
Nice idea. What I think I need to do a bit more is embrace the abstraction of details with TWD.
Thank you for an excellent set up for your campaign. I’ve held off watching because I’ve ordered my own copy of the rules and like to go through them as you play. It’s good to see the old Urban Dead logo. I enjoyed playing that game too. I’m really looking forward to the rest of this video series.
