This video is so good! I have the same problem with procrastinating on solo play. This inspired me to get my ass off my shoulders. I rolled up a character and am ready to enter the breach. I'm really impressed with the solo stuff they baked in as well as the custom mission options. I'm an older gamer and very introverted, so being able to play solo is perfect for me. I almost don't even want to play with a party because I love solo so much. Anyway, this video was great and inspiring, and so I too will be entering the breach right after I finish work this afternoon! Thanks for doing what you do!
Another good video. Its nice to you recognize that Dragonbane is a very deadly game and keep that in mind going forward. I myself have forgotten about the lethality of certain games Ive ran solo in the past and well, die within the first couple of hours.
*Surprisingly* deadly, in fact at first I thought giving the solo player additional Heroic Ability at start was a bit much and then I put 2 and 2 together and I said: "even with this army of one ability this is going to be an uphill battle." As I type, I'm mulling rolling up a second character and trying to do both at once. Like perhaps a sidekick with more even leveling.
I'm really interested in this game. I too have seen some of the zillion or so "how to play Dragonbane" videos, and I'm getting really pumped. Christmas is coming, and if somebody in my family comes across with a gift card . . .
Let me call your family and put me on speaker phone, I'll tell them "if you really love Neil you will cough up a gift card please and thank you and Merry Christmas."
Hello, Man Alone, I just found your channel today, and great channel. I really would like to see more about Forbidden Psalm, maybe the gameplay will be great. Great job.
Only a few minutes into it, but I'm already thrilled about the potential direction this campaign could take! :•) Regarding your game development, I'm contemplating whether creating video playthroughs of games like "The Quiet Year" and "The Ground Itself" could be beneficial. It might not directly contribute to development though, and might be rooted in a selfish video request. It's genuinely fascinating to witness the imaginative way you've approached games like "1000 Year Old Vampire" in the past! Anyways, happy to see any content you produce!
This was s such a nice comment to read, and it is SO INTERESTING the suggestions you gave. My gf and I were *SO CLOSE* to buying the Quiet Year the other day at our FLGS, we had it IN OUR HANDS but decided to read a few reviews first. Definitely a different approach than my game but I think a great system that I will have a lot of fun with. Next time I go back I do believe I'm going to pick it up, I think it can be solo'd. So happy to have you here @gagawagawa !!
Great video! Glad you liked Dragonbane. I did back it, even though I prefer the old version. For me Forbidden Psalm is the least interesting of the other games, because it’s the one I know the most about. But I think you should always make videos about what you want, because those will always be the best. Looking forward to more Dragonbane and the next TWDU update 👍💪😁
Well said my friend, and wow - you have the original version? How old is your copy? I'd love to hear about other major differences or things that you like about the old one (or maybe it's just the general vibe). And YES - TWDU update is coming, with a bit of a change...it might actually be called IWDU...try to guess what that means lol
@@amanisaloneThe original came out in 82, I have the 3rd edition from 85. But I actually prefer the “Expert” version that came out in 85. It turned the d100 system of the original into a d20 system and added a bunch of new features. Maybe I’ll make a video some day and I can show you.
Looking forward to watching all of these! The only reason I didn't back the KS was the lack of a hardcover option. Now that it is available, I might pick it up.
I am late to it too, have just ordered a copy the day before this video. I am trying to break myself from FOMO. Let others filter out the best for me. Let others show me the things I really need to play.
I am happy to wade through trash sometimes, as I am happy to let others wade through the trash for me other times. We are all each other's trash pandas sometimes, it's the way of the world. This one, though - dragon bane - def one of the "not trash" ones
I too, I forced myself to let the FOMO blow away before looking at game systems and supplements and such. There seems to be a trend where each new system goes through a phase where everyone's yelling about you have to get and play this and it's the best thing ever, then 6 months later, nothing, because they're on to the next new thing. I have swords and Wizardry and a D&D on my shelf and that's about all the osr stuff I think I need.
100% agree, and it's so funny because I think about gaming as a kid and starving for new content whereas now I am flooded with it to the point that 75% of my RPGs go unplayed. I think I'm better off staying focused on one and getting the most out of it then fraying in too many directions (not that I can't do a side quest here and there everyone once in a blue moon).
Regarding Ironsworn complications, first of all you can just take a momentum hit, for myself at least that's the "IDK" consequence. But if you do want an in-story consequence, there actually is a table for that in Starforged! You can use Story Complication or Combat Action.
@@amanisalone This playlist seems to be backwards, meaning it plays from newest to oldest. Would you mind swapping that so I can just let it play in the background instead of having to continually come back to YT to play them in the correct order, please?
You are really refreshing to listen to and watch. Love that you aren’t using vtt. Please keep it going! ❤🎉
Back at it next week when I get back to the states!!
Just bought the game, but stalling to get started 😅Getting hyped by watching people play it 😂 Thanks 🙏🏻
My absolute favorite solo rpg system. I hope you enjoy it as well, well into the future. Also, the Bestiary book is coming out.
I got paid 51 minutes ago and pre-ordered it 50 minutes ago 😂
They give you so much more than the new D&D starter set does its crazy

Just the video I needed to make me dust off that unopened box of Dragonbane on my shelf and make it happen!

Absolutely fantastic video! Got me thoroughly excited for your (and mine) future solo adventures, thank you!
Hell yeah! Keep it coming. This is my favorite type of RUclips content.
The boxed set (core rules not starter set) is the best value RPG you will find. Great game. Great video.
Wrote many RPGs too, I also become obcessed and write all the way through the night and think about it all day. I Completely understand
you had me at "mages on the border".
I'm so excited that you'll be playing this, as I'm a big fan of Dragonbane, I like your stuff 😁.
I'm so excited you're here for the ride friend! This game is so cool...glad I finally took the plunge. Working on the second video now.
That’s a good point, make stuff because you love it… no other reason needed

Wouldent say that dragon was a force off good more law and order and demon was a force off kaos
You're right, well said - two opposite poles of chaos and order.
Dead Belt queued for research. Cute miniatures will become less cute with that much of metal and horns though...

I picked up the QuickStart today…full set on the way. Whether I should or not, I’m feeling confident that this TTRPG noobie can tackle this solo. 😅
What a great choice! It is just a box where everything inside feels SO special to have. You’re gonna love it adub!!! Oh I’m so excited for you (:
So did you ever start? I can’t find you ever playing the first mission.
Nevermind, I found it. I was looking for a Playlist.
I'm going to clean up my playlists soon, sorry about that
